Knock, knock.
Camilla rose from the bed, where she had been watching Aiden read children's books on his tablet, and made her way to the door. The maids had all left to attend to other tasks in the grand mansion, so she didn't expect anyone to be looking for her. She peeked through the peephole and was surprised to see Alessio on the other side. Opening the door promptly, she welcomed him inside as he scanned the room.
"It seems you've settled in nicely," Alessio remarked.
"Yes, thank you. And do I sense someone behind you?" Camilla asked.
Alessio nodded and motioned for some men to bring in parts of a shelf, which they promptly assembled in the room. Playfully, Camilla teased Alessio about the slow progress of the shelf getting to her and how she was going to assemble it while inspecting it to ensure its safety.
“I bought the most expensive baby shelf I could find Camilla. It's definitely safe.”
Camila glared at him as if he had made a bad joke. “Expensive doesn't guarantee safe when it comes to babies Al. Remember that next time.”
"Choosing shelves is more time-consuming than picking jewelry randomly. And why are you srill checking it again? This is like, the third time." Alessio questioned.
"Coming from someone who has never shopped for a child before. And I need to make sure it's sturdy, has no sharp edges. In fact, safe all round." Camilla replied and went to a part of the room. Dragging a huge bag and opened it. Revealing that it filled with books rather than toys. Which Axel found strange.
"You keep a lot of books. I thought that bag had your shoes or toys."Alessio exclaimed.
Camilla gave him an incredulous look. "Shoes or toys? Where would I wear them all to? And who needs toys here? "
“Alessio and you used to buy a lot of shoes then.”
“That was 'then' and you basically pleaded I buy em. Also, Aiden doesn't play with toys even if I get them.”
“Why?”
“He's like his mama. Too sophisticated for his age. Obviously.”
Alessio shrugged turned his attention to Aiden, who was engrossed in his book, fascinated by his intense focus.
"Does he always get this engrossed in his reading? I've never heard him speak properly," Alessio mentioned.
Camilla defended Aiden, questioning whether all two-year-olds needed to talk a lot.
“How many two year olds do you know and must children scream their heads off?” She said with a glare.
Alessio tried to get Aiden's attention, but to no avail. Camilla barely held her laughter while Riri made a suggestion.
“Ma--master. Try calling the young master by the name Madam calls him. Aiden.”
Alessio then remembered that he responded when Camilla called him by his name.
"Aiden," Alessio called out.
Aiden glanced up from his book and raised his head to meet Alessio's eyes. He shyly remarked about Alessio's height.
“Papa ish twall.”
Confused, Alessio sought clarification from Camilla, who translated Aiden's observation and he burst into laughter. The servants in the room were shocked at this and stared as if they had been petrified.
Aiden pointed to the book he had been reading and Riri broke of her reverie handed it to him. He thanked her affectionately, referring to her as "Wiwi."
“Awwn! The Young Master is so cute! You're welcome.” Riri commented.
Alessio couldn't help but feel a surge of affection as he gazed down at the adorable child sitting comfortably in his arms, engrossed in a book that took him by surprise. He looked over at Camilla with wide eyes, astonished at the sight before him.
"How...how is he reading this?" Alessio stammered, pointing to the book in the child's hands, which happened to be a book on poetry.
"What do you mean?" Camilla asked, clearly puzzled.
"This book, it's not exactly child-friendly. It's poetry," Alessio explained, still amazed.
Camilla chuckled softly. "Oh, that's his favorite book. He knows what he's doing. And speaking of which, when will the speech therapist will get here? ."
Setting Aiden down gently, Alessio observed as the child briefly glanced at him before diving back into his book. " She'll be here on the afternoon and I should probably get going. Looks like you've met your old maids already."
"I thought you had fired them," Camilla remarked with a relieved smile. "I'm glad they're here to help me settle in quickly."
"I'll have someone prepare something for you to eat," Alessio offered.
Camilla got up and straightened out the rumples on her dress. "No thanks, I've got it. And you must have work to attend to."
"Indeed. The speech therapist is on their way. By the way, what did you say to Olivia?" Alessio inquired, a grin playing on his lips.
Camilla lifted Aiden into her arms, her expression serious as she motioned for Alessio to follow her out of the room. As they walked towards the grand entrance of the mansion, she confessed, "I simply told her to be quiet and by that, I mean 'shut up'. "
Alessio raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Well, well."
"Her behavior in First Class was unacceptable. I may consider you an asshole, but you wouldn't act like that," Camilla explained, her tone firm.
Alessio chuckled. "What perception do you have of me, Camilla?"
"That of a monster. Her behavior could have caused a scandal. Aren't your fiancées meant to embody grace and kindness? Where did you find her?" Camilla retorted, her gaze piercing.
"Aren't you just a paragon of virtue?" Alessio teased.
Camilla frowned. "Forget that. She needs to be more mindful. Such behavior reflects badly on you, especially now that you're connected to my son. I don't want any issues arising, especially due to her conduct."
"Well, her family's wealth can cover up any mess she creates. And now, it's time for me to depart. Farewell," Alessio said, preparing to leave.
"Mm-hmm," Camilla responded, her expression unreadable.
As Alessio turned to go, Aiden's sweet voice stopped him in his tracks. "Goodbye, papa. See you later."
