Unbound: The Call of Power

This War is only the beginning, he thought to himself, even as the fight to end the reign of evil on Earth once and for all raged on. All around him, sounds of battle filled the air as swords clanged and cries of pain and triumph were heard. The SuperNaturals were winning in this part of the world, as they pushed the demons back towards the Portal. The lower - level Angel leaned against a pillar, trying to catch his breathe. He watched as Werewolves, Witches, Angels, Vampires and even Demons fought fiercely on the same side. The War had wiped out many SuperNaturals around the world until they had figured out a way to lock the demons back into the underworld, as was intended. He heard a screech to his left and he barely ducked as a deformed claw swung at the pillar. Crouching, he struck his sword upwards and straight into the heart of his opponent. The demon fell in a pool of black blood; writhing from the strike of his blade. He sighed deeply as he beheaded the vile creature, ending its pain once and for all.   He had no love for the evil forces that be, but he certainly did not derive any satisfaction from watching a being suffer. He turned around just in time to see that the SuperNaturals had gained the higher ground and the remaining demons had been forced behind the impenetrable force fields of the Witches. They began chanting and as the spell started to take effect, the Portal started to envelope the demons and close. The screeches got louder as the Portal started closing rapidly, until finally it closed into a rune onto the ground with a majestic boom. Suddenly, there was only silence. A high - level Angel walked to the middle of the rune and stuck his sword through the slit in the centre. As everyone watched with bated breathes, he turned the sword on its hilt, effectively locking the Portal. As the lock clicked in place, a collective release of relief could be heard. Even from a distance, he could feel the immense power of the magic containing Portal.   The War was finally over, or so it would seem. The Angel pulled the sword out of the rune and handed it to the SuperNaturals. The sword was the key and the Portal, the lock. It was now the SuperNaturals' for protecting. The Angels started taking flight, knowing that this would be the last battle they will fight, and as they returned home; they were to never be seen or heard from again. As the lower - level Angel took his flight along with the rest, he looked down at the SuperNaturals and their tired forms. If only they knew that this War was only the beginning.
