Flower Moon Flashback
The sun had begun to set while the flower moon was rising, waking the night sky.
Buzz from the celebration at the pack house still audible in the distance as I pushed further through the aspens while gliding my hands over the chalky ash. We had a celebration every month for each full moon as they represented something different, the flower moon represented blooming and growth for the month of May.
I heard a rustle to left and froze, examining the surroundings closely. Realizing it was clear and only the wind picking up and moving through the brush and grass. I continued forward looking for the perfect spot to hide, however that quickly ended when he jumped out screaming boo. I screamed and slapped him on the shoulder while running to the right toward the stream while laughter followed behind me. I stoped at the stream turned around as he barreled through beaming with the biggest grin.
“Fine, you win…..again”, folding my arms and pouting. While continuing to grin he says “you know with each moon celebration you get easier and easier to track”. As my breathing steadies I smirk at him and turn away, walking back toward the celebration, he calls after me but I ignore him until he barrels in front of me forcing me to stop. “Come on you can’t hate me that much, I gave you extra time this time”, I continue to glare at him as he appears to become frustrated.
I decide to end my silence not wanting to make him mad “I know but you’re two years older, your wolf senses are stronger”. No longer frustrated he says “come on lets head back” while he reached out for my hand and started to pull me. I freeze pulling my hand away in confusion “what are you doing”, his cheeks start to flush as he turns forward and continues walking.
Following I yell after him “come on what is wrong with you, you are acting weird”, he stops inches from my face and says “maybe I just wanted to hold your hand”. My cheeks also flush as he grabs my hand again and we keep walking while the moon and stars light our way. His hand feels so warm its overwhelming but I can’t let go, its the most comforting feeling.
The moon celebration gets louder as we move out of the aspens, just before we reach the clearing he stops, turns around, and holds my jawline staring into my eyes. It felt as though he was staring into my soul and then he kissed me. I gasped as he continued to lean into me, my back pressed against a tree as I gave in. He was gentle and loving until he released and my breathing labored with his, then he kissed my hand before continuing to walk out into the clearing.
Everything changed that night but not all for the best.
