Chapter 1. Amnesia
The sunlight was coming through the window in a beautiful sunset, a soft smell of alcohol surrounded the room, a motionless body lay on a hospital bed, slowly Anelix opened his eyelids, reflecting the sun through his beautiful light brown eyes. Slowly Anelix opens her eyelids, reflecting the sun through her beautiful light brown eyes, in her awakening there is only uncertainty, what's going on, where am I, were her first thoughts, a pain in her head made her force her eyes closed, how did I get here if a moment ago I was in my apartment reading? Anelix, a hard working woman, worked in a well known company after a lot of effort and lived alone in a small apartment near her work, it was all she could afford, her life was hell sometimes, but she earned enough to support herself, so she couldn't leave it. She was reading a book in her room and ...... is all she remembers. How I ended up in a hospital?. Her ribs hurt too much and she had bruises all over, it seemed like she was here for that reason. As she struggled to try to remember someone opened the door to the room. A tall, handsome man dressed in a blue suit and carrying a basket of flowers enters without warning. Seeing her conscious, his eyes widen, he instantly drops the basket of flowers and runs to hug her tightly, “You finally wake up, I missed you too much.” Anelix: “...????” Anelix didn't know what was happening and with what little strength she had she pushes the man away from her, “Who are you?” The man is shocked, he says: “Love, it's me, your husband, why are you acting like that?” “A...a..a..mor.... What are you talking about, you're confusing me with someone else, I'm not married.” Man dressed in blue: “!!!!!. What?” The man makes a serious face, frowns and asks her, “can't you remember me, don't joke about it love, you're scaring me.” She answers, “I told you I don't know what you're talking about, I....yo.....was in my apartment, I don't know how I got here, but I'm sure I don't know you”. That man makes a somber face, to the point that it would make anyone's skin crawl, with a deep voice he calls: “Erick”. Another man answers from outside the door, “say my lord.” “Call the doctor immediately” The man outside strides away from the door. In a short time the doctor arrives with a nurse to check Anelix's vital signs, standing guard at the door is the man who went to call him, he is tall, stocky, dressed in black, he gave off a somewhat somber aura and a scar could be seen on the left side of his forehead. Anelix asks the doctor about his situation and how he came to be there, clearly everything is too real to be in a dream, so he gave up that idea. The doctor starts talking: “You were in a car accident, you broke 3 ribs, but other than that you only suffered minor injuries, nothing to worry about. Apparently the security system of your car is very good, do you remember anything about what happened?”, Anelix shakes her head, the doctor continues: ”Maybe the trauma made you forget some things, but you have no head injuries, maybe this is only temporary, can you tell me how much you remember about yourself?” To which she replies, “my name is Anelix, I am 25 years old, I live alone in an apartment in the center of the city, I work as an administrator, I don't know how I got here.” The man in a suit replies, “25 years old, you're 33, you work in my company and live with me, Doctor what's going on?” With his hand on his chin the doctor says: “It seems to be a case of Dissociative Amnesia, we will do more tests to be sure, but for the moment it doesn't suppose anything serious, she should recover soon, luckily the girl is completely fine, she only has external scratches but there was no serious damage, she can be discharged today.” Anelix was stunned with everything she heard, nothing made sense. “I'm already 33 years old, that's not possible, you're telling me I don't remember 8 years of my life, and what little girl are you talking about?” “Love, I'm Antony, I'm your husband of 5 years and we have a 3 year old daughter.” “No.....”, Anelix goes into a steric state, ‘a daughter?......are you crazy, I don't even know you, I don't know what's going on here!!! aaaahhhggg’, she puts her hands on her head and starts screaming. Antony goes over to calm her down but the doctor stops him, “sir you can't force her now, you must let her rest, once she calms down you can patiently try to talk to her”. Antony reluctantly walks away, the nurse gives Anelix a painkiller and they all leave the room. Anelix was very confused, is this real?, she couldn't stop doubting in her head, this succession of events was very unreal, if she never remembered those 8 years.... how could she ever go back to the normalcy of her life. Anelix closed her eyes trying to search for some memory that would help her understand the situation, but all she found was emptiness. It was as if a part of her life had been erased without a trace. The doctor's words echoed in her head, “Dissociative amnesia.” How was it possible that his mind had blocked out eight whole years of his life? And most disturbing of all: a daughter? Anelix couldn't even imagine herself as a mother. She felt overwhelmed and lost in an abyss of uncertainty. After a while, the effect of the painkiller made her body relax, although her mind was still navigating in a tangle of confused thoughts. He tried to focus on what little he could remember: his apartment, his job, the hours he spent reading, his solitary but quiet routine. That was all he knew. Her life had never been extraordinary, but it was hers, and now, suddenly, everything seemed to have changed without her consent. Could she trust those people who claimed to know her? That man who claimed to be her husband, and that “girl” they were talking about?
