Ominous Skies

Dahlia Things between Gregor and I have been strained. He hasn’t contacted me since he left my office that day and my phone has been blowing up with messages from Sebastian and people trying to find Sebastian. I shudder thinking that he is out and no one has a collar on him. When I woke up this morning, I knew I should have just stayed in bed and cancelled today’s appointments. I was allowed to take a day off now and then. I also didn’t want to be left alone with my own thoughts as well, which is why I dragged myself out of bed and then promptly slammed my shin against the door of the nightstand. Tears stung my eyes as I fell back on the bed with a cry. Staring at the open door, I tried slamming it closed but then it fell off the hinges bent and broken. When the heck did that happen. Rubbing my head I was nursing a hangover from last night as well, my subscribers have been dropping drastically and I was almost banned from my channel. The rate of subscribers leaving worried me but that was how the world of internet stardom went. The claim that I was doing lewd things on my channel and I was almost banned, that was a downright lie. I never performed fellatio or even hinted at it when I was doing a show. The sky was dark with rain clouds and I groaned as I crawled out of bed. I didn’t want to run but a few people have commented about my weight. I glanced down and scowled, sure I had a slight pudge, I wasn’t fat though. Maybe that is what they wanted, one of those obese girls. I heard some of them were doing very well with followers and money. My phone chimed and I looked at the number. Sending it to voicemail I glanced around again and finally dragged on my shoes and some warmer clothes. Thunder rumbled in the distance as I closed my door behind me and I took off down the street. It was just the sound of the weather and my feet on the pavement. I was worried about Gregor; he has been acting strange lately and has been hinting around that he would rather I not work on my channel. He forgets that was how we met, he was browsing through profiles and clicked on mine and we chatted about his issues. He was one of my top subscribers. We clicked and it seemed we had a lot in common. Then I asked him out for coffee after I started going to grief counseling meetings. I knew he was going and I may have lied slightly about why I was there. Soon I was running some of the meetings and we started hanging out. It was perfect, until it wasn’t. Which is where we are right now. It is just a small rocky patch I keep telling myself but I can’t help the ominous feeling in my gut. Thunder crashed and then a flash of lightening struck a tree in front of me. I screamed and fell backwards onto the pavement. The tree was smoldering and sparks were flying from the leaves. Rain started pouring down and I let out a sob as I picked myself up and limped home. When I got there the door to my flat was open and that cold trickle of fear tingled down my spine. I grabbed the heavy candlestick by the doorway and crept further into the flat. “Hello? I’m armed if you’re in here stealing anything I am going to call the police.” There was a crash and cursing from the kitchen followed by giggling. Sighing I hurried toward the kitchen and stopped dead in my tracks. “What are you doing here?” I stared at Sebastian’s back as he wiggled and danced for some woman in my favorite dress. “Ah cousin, is that any way to greet me and my guest.” His voice was hoarse and I glared at the woman. She looked like one of the strippers at the lower end. “You get out of my dress and you get the hell out of my house.” Sebastian slammed down the glass and it shattered causing the woman to jump. “NOW THAT IS JUST PLAIN RUDE!” “I DON’T CARE SEBASTIAN YOU AREN’T ALLOWED IN HERE!” “I CAN GO WHERE I PLEASE COUSIN BESIDES, WE WOULDN’T WANT YOUR NEW BOYFRIEND FINDING OUT ABOUT YOUR DARK SECRETS.” I stopped dead in my tracks and let the candlestick drop to the floor. “That is better, see we can be civilized here cousin. Now let us have some breakfast and talk about things like adults.” I knew when that lightning struck the tree things were going to be bad. I just didn’t know how bad they were. Seems like my past might finally come back to bite me in the butt.
