Chapter 4

/Samantha/ "Hey, Samantha. How are you doing? "I'm looking forward to next period," one of the boys added, a cheeky grin in my direction. As I glanced at him, I nibbled on the inside of my lower lip with my teeth. He was smoking hot once more, his brown hair flowing across his forehead and beautiful blue eyes glistening in the sunlight. Is it possible that someone tampered with the water supply at this school? And why the heck hadn't I seen any of these individuals when I was out and about? Oh, and it's probably because my mother insisted that I attend a crappy private school three towns away. But it didn't matter since I was content at that school, where I had many friends and was well-known. But, alas, Brian had persuaded my mother that sending me to private school would be a waste of her resources. As a result, I was now enrolled in the local public school, and the money that would have been spent on my education was instead put into a savings account in preparation for my twenty-first birthday. The situation wasn't too horrible; at the very least, I would have more opportunities to visit Henry, which was obviously a positive thing. "Can you tell me what you've got for next period?" Susan was the one who inquired. I made a sour face. "Gym," I murmured, a sneer forming on my face. As he began to eat his french fries, Henry laughed maliciously in his heart. I was a complete failure in sports. Running was the one thing I like doing; I went for a run with Henry every morning before we went to school to get some exercise. "Let's look over your schedule again," Susan replied, reaching out her palm in anticipation of receiving it. The item was pulled out of my purse and placed into the woman's extended palm. She took a quick look at it. "Hey, I've got French and English literature with me as well!" "Oh, and I have gym the next time as well. With a sneer on his face as his eyebrows wiggled, another youngster remarked that we may be good business partners. “Enough! Please leave her alone. "I've previously informed you of my plans!" Henry yelled, his anger expression spreading over his face as he looked at each of them. I turned around to face Henry. Was he serious when he said that? He'd issued a warning to others to keep away from me? "Henry, what are you talking about? "I'm capable of looking after myself, you understand," I said, a frown on my face. When he gazed at me, his features softened. In all seriousness, Samantha Bear, I'm only watching out for you." With a wave of his hand around the table to his buddies, he indicated that they didn't want anything to do with them. 'These jackoffs are your pals, Henry,' I pointed out, a sneering grin on my face. "I understand exactly how they think. So keep your distance," he added venomously. I kicked him under the table before I could stop myself, my foot making contact with his shin as I did so. “Ouch! "What was that for?" he said, reaching down and stroking his leg, a snarling expression on his face. "For the fact that you're an ass." I have the freedom to speak with anyone I choose, okay? "Please don't start this entire thing over again," I pleaded, making him look at me with my puppy dog expression that I knew he couldn't resist. He made a snorting sound and shook his head. “Fine! You may speak with anybody you choose. You have the freedom to date anyone you choose. He snapped, tossing his plate of food away from him furiously and getting up from the table, walking out the door in the opposite direction. Is it true that he was upset with me? What the heck did I get myself into? He was the one who was being too possessive and protective of his possessions! My gaze was drawn to his disappearing back, my mind reeling from what had just occurred. It was clear to me that I couldn't allow him be upset with me; I adored that silly guy with all of my heart. I leaped out of my chair and dashed after him, completely on instinct. Whenever I got near enough, I pounced on his back and wrapped my arms and legs securely around him, taking him completely by surprise and almost toppling him over with my weight. When I kissed the side of his neck, he laughed softly since I had bent my head on his shoulder. I leaned in close to his neck and grinned because I already knew that everything had been forgiven and forgotten. As I opened my lips and sucked hard on the sensitive skin of his neck, causing him a hickey, a sinister idea developed in my thoughts, and I decided to carry it out. "Please accept my apologies. I certainly didn't want to come out as ungrateful. "I'm aware that you're keeping an eye on me," I informed him. His physique appeared to be at ease beneath my touch. "I'm sorry, Samantha Bear, I shouldn't have done what I did. I'm sorry." You are free to speak with whoever you like; I was only trying to look out for you, to be honest. "These people here aren't good enough for you," he added, a bit sadly shaking his head. As my stomach snarled hungrily, I sighed and kissed my hickey on the back of his neck. "Can we go back to the restaurant and finish our meal now?" I inquired. He nodded and twisted around, locking his arms around my thighs, relieving me of the need to hold on as tightly as I had to. When we returned to the table, he sat me back in my chair with a firm push. Everyone's eyes were fixed on us once more. My eyes rolled as Henry kissed the top of my head, causing the females to gasp and look at me even more sarcastically. In the blink of an eye, Henry returned to his seat opposite me, and Daniel's eyes lit up. "Holy crap! I'm speechless! "Did you allow her to brand you?" Daniel yelled, his finger aiming towards Henry's neck. "Can you brand me?" Henry repeated himself, his fingers stroking across the back of his neck. "Yeah, she gave you a stinking hickey!" says the doctor. Daniel exclaimed with a chuckle. Henry looked at me with his eyes. "You didn't!" he said, a sly grin on his face. I nodded in agreement, attempting to keep the laughter at bay. The only thing he did was roll his eyes and raise the collar of his shirt to hide his mouth. He had been doing it to me on a regular basis, so this was retaliation. He'd been pinning me down and giving me a hickey virtually every week since I was eleven years old, when he first learned how to do them. He constantly claims that he is marking his territory with smell, similar to how a cat does. "Paybacks are such a b*tch, huh?" I taunted, a sneaky grin on my face. We were jogging track in the gym, which was fantastic for me. Runs were one of my favorite activities, and at least I wasn't confined in some boring hall playing dodge ball or anything. That would be a huge disappointment. The only problem was that I hadn't brought any exercise equipment with me because I had been abroad for a month. Susan had lent me her shorts, but because I was far taller than she was, they were actually quite short shorts for me. I couldn't even put on a shirt since I didn't have one. I grabbed my cell phone and texted Henry to see if he had a spare. He responded that he had. He responded with a text message a few seconds later, saying that he would meet me outside the females locker room. Everyone was ready, so they all made their way out of the building together. As I hesitantly walked out the door in my red shirt, I noticed Henry leaning against the doorframe, waiting for me. “Here.” He tossed a large white T-shirt at me. “Hurry up, or it will be fifty push-ups for both of you!” the instructor yelled turning to go out of the door. I immediately pulled off my shirt and replaced it with his T-shirt, then turned back to the locker rooms and dropped my top in the pile of my belongings. When I turned back to face Henry, I noticed him standing there with a painful look on his face. “What’s up?” I inquired, making a knot in the back of his shirt to make it fit a bit better. He only shook his head but didn’t answer. Realisation hit me what was wrong with him. I’d just pulled my shirt off in front of him. Crap, excellent work, Samantha! But it wasn’t really that big of an issue however, he’d seen me in bikinis a lot so it was exactly the same really. So why was he gazing at me like that? I turned and sprinted toward the field, rejecting his apparent concern. “Race ya!” I called over my shoulder since he was still up standing stock still outside the changing room. We were meant to be running a mile, which was five laps of the circuit. I ran as quickly as I could. I needed a head start because geez that dude was a quick runner. After approximately a minute I heard him catching up behind me. As he passed by, he smacked my behind, causing me to yelp with delight at the shock and small discomfort. "Keep up, slow coach, or you'll have to go out and purchase food tonight," the driver says. He burst out laughing. I took a deep breath and forced my legs to go quicker on the ground. I caught up with him, but I believe he let me since there's no way I could have caught him if he had intended to flee. When we went for a morning run, we jogged beside each other, exchanging taunting insults back and forth, just like we did every morning. We were on our final lap at this point, and I silently thanked God since I was absolutely exhausted by this point. "What do you think about placing a bet?" Henry made the suggestion, a grin on his face. Oh no, I usually end up losing his bets! "Can you tell me what kind of bet?" I inquired, a little nervously. It was easy to feel the perspiration dripping down my back as a result of the exertion. It was only the two of us because no one else seemed to be taking this seriously; they were all simply strolling about talking or jogging at a moderate pace instead. So, if I beat you up, you have to kiss someone of my choosing as a punishment. And if you manage to beat me, I'll kiss a random person of your choosing. "How about a proper kiss, with tongues," he proposed, a smile on his face. I gazed towards the end of the track, wondering whether I could possibly run any faster than I was now doing, knowing full well that he could outrun me. We were getting close to the hundred-meter mark at this point. I made a rapid assessment of my possibilities. Even though I didn't want to kiss anyone, I knew that if I won the bet and Henry had to kiss Susan, she would be obligated to pay me back in perpetuity. It was the challenge that drew me in. "All right," I said as I shoved him in the hip with my hip, causing him to lose his balance. When it came to racing him, I needed every edge I could get. I took off as quickly as I could. My legs were pounding so hard that I was hardly able to keep up with them at the time. So that I wouldn't have to risk losing concentration by looking over my shoulder to see where he was, all I could think about was the finish line and the win that was just a few steps away....
