Chapter 3

/Samantha/ He reddened a little and then gave me his trademark grin as he dragged me around the bend. "Come on, let's do it." During the English portion of the day, I sat with Henry and Jerry, which was fantastic since they kept a lot of the unwelcome attention away from me. However, I didn't sit with them again until after lunch. A deep breath was taken as the bell sounded, signaling the conclusion of the class. The thought of being on my own did not appeal to me in the least. Henry smiled sympathetically at my plight. He was well aware that I disliked meeting new acquaintances and that this would be a difficult experience for me. "Come on, Samantha Bear, I'll accompany you to your science class." He took my hand in his and assisted me in getting out of my chair. The two of us proceeded to my class hand in hand and didn't say anything. Our friendship was easy to maintain, honest, and very affectionate toward one another. The two of us were completely at ease with each other. He had been my closest friend and rock for so long that I don't know how I would have managed to go through anything if it hadn't been for his presence. We reached the entrance of my class and he grasped my face in both of his hands, stepping forward until our foreheads were touching. I was shocked. There were gasps and whispers from the classroom, so I closed my eyes and just savored the intimacy of his contact. Everything in my body was starting to quiver, and my stomach was starting to feel all fluttery. He smelt wonderful, and his breath caressed my lips as it passed across them at that very moment. I couldn't bear the thought of letting him go. I had no clue why I suddenly felt strange, but I figured it was probably simply anxiety for my first solo lesson or anything similar to that. I swallowed noisily and smiled, pretending everything was OK, despite the fact that he was undoubtedly able to see right through me. "Have faith in yourself; you'll be OK." "I'll see you at lunch," he said, kissing the top of my head before turning and walking away. When I returned to the class, I noticed that everyone, including the instructor, was gazing at me once more. I got up and walked to the lone seat in the back row that was free. As I walked by a gorgeous boy with reddish brown hair, he smacked me across the back of the thighs. As I sat in my chair and rested my arms on the desk, I clenched my teeth and pretended it didn't exist. I could see everyone was looking at me, so I simply sat there, without moving. "Hello," said a young lady sitting next to me. I looked her in the eyes as I raised my head. Aside from having short black hair with some blue streaks that she had spiked out in a trendy manner, she had huge brown eyes and a demure demeanor about her. She had a nice grin on her face at the time. "Hello," I said, attempting to seem more confident than I actually was. "Are you dating Henry Williams?" she said, her eyes widening in appreciation as she asked the question. Her face made it very clear that she had a soft spot for Henry. I responded with a shake of my head. Is it really true that you're dating Henry? “No. He's one of my closest friends. "I've known him for a long time." I cracked a grin. Our families and friends always assumed that Henry and I were together; in fact, our parents were convinced that we would marry one day and used to taunt us about it. "Oh, that's a shame because he's so freaking hot!" she exclaimed, rubbing her face and sighing dreamily as she said it. "Oh, that's a shame because he's so freaking hot!" I couldn't keep a smile off my face. Henry wasn't only attractive, he appeared to be a god since he was so stunningly handsome - even I, who was his best friend, could see this. Despite the fact that he had always been attractive, he only continued to improve in appearance as he grew older. No girl, in all honesty, could resist his allure. "Do you have anything you'd want to share with the students, Miss Kate?" the teacher inquired, a cynical tone in his voice. The girl reddened and shook her head, thus putting an end to the discussion. The bell sounded at the conclusion of class and she waited for me outside in the hallway. "My name is Susan, by the way," she chirped, a pleasant smile on her face as I picked up my luggage. We were walking out of the classroom when she said, "So, where are you going next?" I took my schedule out of my bag and studied it. "Er, I'm going to do history next." "No s**t, me too!" she said as she linked her arm with mine and yelled out. As we made our way along the corridor, everyone's eyes were drawn back to me. There were a couple of individuals who whistled or made some provocative remarks, but I chose to ignore them. "I can't believe it's your first day and you already have the entire football team chasing after you." "I can't believe you already have the entire football team chasing after you." In my first period Calculus class, I overheard them all chatting about you and how great you are. "They're all taking bets on who will be the first to sleep with you," Susan said, shaking her head in disapproval. I let out a gasp. "You've got to be kidding me!" She laughed a little. "I'm not joking when I say this. You're a fresh cut of meat, and you're sizzling. At lunchtime, the cheerleaders will most likely approach you and invite you to join the team. "You'll be right in with the 'it' crowd in no time," she said, an unpleasant snort in her voice. "I'm not interested in becoming a cheerleader." I shook my head in disbelief at the notion. I let out a moan. I didn't want males to come up to me and hit on me all day! "Wonderful! Then we can become buddies!" She giggled and wrapped her arm around mine as she guided me through the maze of corridors and corridors. Anytime we had the opportunity, whenever the teacher wasn't looking, and when we were walking between courses, Susan and I spoke. She was quite kind, and we actually had a great deal in common. She told me all I needed to know about the school and how it operates, pointing out persons who piqued her interest - gorgeous males. Alternatively, there are folks to avoid - clingy stalker sorts. She informed me that Henry and his three buddies, whom I had met earlier this morning, were members of the football team and that they were the most popular and sought-after lads at the school, according to her. According to them, Henry was the most attractive and was the 'alpha male,' but that they were all players who only remained with a lady long enough to get into their trousers was the most outrageous claim. When she told me that, all I could do was grin. This tidbit of knowledge about Henry was already familiar to me; he had a long history of relationships with a variety of women. We didn't really have any secrets from one another; he was honest about the fact that he didn't want to have a girlfriend. He often made fun of the fact that I was the only lady he was interested in, and that the others were only for show because I wasn't interested in them. After History class, Susan and I went for a walk to have some lunch. As soon as I walked into the cafeteria, the entire building became quiet. After I turned to Susan with a frown, she just hooked her arm with mine and dragged me to the lunch line. "I'm not hungry anymore," I grumbled as I took a look at the extensive selection of food they had on hand. People were talking in my ear from behind me. Hello, Samantha Bear. "Hey, Samantha Bear. "How did you find your morning?" With his arms wrapped around my waist and dragging me backwards into his chest, Henry sprang out from behind me with the question. I sighed with relief as I realized how safe I felt when he was near me, and I leaned my head back against his shoulder to rest my head. "It was OK," I said, casting a glance across at Susan, who was utterly eye r****g Henry and her mouth slightly open. "It was fine," I mumbled again. "Excuse me, Henry, but this is Susan." "Susan, Henry," he says. I introduced them by waving my hand around, even though they were probably aware of each other's existence. On the other hand, it's possible that Henry was unaware of her existence; she was a junior, just like me, and he was a senior, so their paths had probably never crossed - unless it was a s****l path, of course. A little smirk appeared on my face as a result of that final idea. "Hey, Susan. How are you? "Have you been looking after my daughter for me?" he said nicely, a smile on his face. She didn't say anything; she just kept gazing at him as if he hadn't said anything. "O.... Kay," he murmured, a chuckle in his voice. "Obviously, you have an impact on the young ladies at this school." "They all seem to despise me," I said in hushed tones to him. "They don't dislike you at all. His response was encouraging: "You're being paranoid," he said, giving me a reassuring squeeze. “Really? "You're a little paranoid, huh?" I replied by tilting my head slightly and nodding my head around to the side. Henry looked about and took in all of the girls who were staring at me with hate and jealousy in their eyes, but who were all smiling at him as soon as his gaze was directed in their way. “Oh! "All right, maybe I shouldn't embrace you anymore after all," he said, moving back and smiling at me. "Get your buttocks over here right away!" I muttered, pointing to my side and a kind smile on my face. The man grinned maliciously as he wrapped his arm over my shoulder and pushed me up to the cash register, where he loaded two plates of chilli fries onto my tray and paid for them. I went inside my schoolbag for my purse, but he had already paid over the money and picked up the tray for me. I was a little disappointed. "So, Susan, would you and Samantha be interested in joining us for a meal?" he inquired, directing his attention to the largest table at the far end of the cafeteria. It was jam-packed with all of the most attractive students in the school, both male and female. "Sure," Susan said, her eyes shining with excitement. The fact that she appeared to be so thrilled suggests that she was probably battling the temptation to leap up and down. We were escorted to the table by Henry. "Slow it down, fellas. 'Making place for my daughter and her companion,' he demanded, gesticulating with his hand. Everyone immediately went to the front of the line to make place for the two extras. Wow, he was definitely the dominant guy; when he says leap, everyone immediately inquires as to how high. I grinned at him because he was not the kind to misuse his position; he was far too kind and gentle, but he loved to project a strong, masculine image.
