An academy originally intended for gifted students who could not afford an education, Aldridge Academy shone as a beacon for constructive learning. Presently, it stood for such a motto only in name.
The academy now served as a mere formality for trust fund kids. Occasionally a truly gifted student could find a way into the school...
Once inside, they had to make their way through an intricate web of politics, betrayal and lies. Moreover, being treated as second class citizens in the school because they were on a scholarship, many students succumbed to the pressure. They either dropped out or turned to drugs...
But still, Aldridge Academy projected an image of prosperity and progress. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The truth was that surviving was half the task. With the whole school gunning to win four spots for the Ivy League recommendation sit in, nothing was a joke. It was literally make or break. One low grade could ruin your chances. The problem was that Aldridge Academy had a lot of smart kids, so competition was stiff.
This meant that sabotage was rampant.
But what happens when sabotage takes a violent turn?
That's exactly what happened last year.
A girl had vanished from the grounds of the academy. No one knew where she was, or even if she was alive. Her family- comprising of a poor single mother and her brother- had begged the Board and the police to expand their search from a local to a statewide manhunt.
But to use resources on a charity case was to waste precious time and effort.
And so her search was abandoned... until of course she showed up a month later- in a body bag.
