Chapter 4: THE INCIDENT

TRIGGER WARNING (Attempted R*pe) We experience our first snowfall of the winter and it was quite a heavy one. Looking from my window all I see is white. The world is covered in a white blanket. Weather like this wants you to remain in your cosy bed reading a book and having a cup of freshly brewed coffee. But it is a luxury I can't afford. It is the weekend and I decided to do overtime as I was in need of some extra cash. I needed some money for school supplies and other necessities and as my aunt refused to give me any so I had no other choice but to do overtime. On weekends the restaurant is very crowded. All of the staff are on their toes the whole time. Everyone rushed from one table to another and to the kitchen and back to the table. The whole environment is quite hectic. As I am cleaning a table I see Maddy receive a phone call. She looks very tense afterwards and goes to the owner of the restaurant. A few moments later, she has changed and is almost leaving the restaurant when I stop her, “Maddy! Is everything okay? Where are you going? I ask. “It's my Dad, he is not feeling well and was hospitalized. I have to go early” she replies looking sad. “Oh, I will pray that he gets well and will soon leave the hospital”. “I hope so ”she says and leaves. Her father is suffering from lung cancer. It is stage three. I just hope that he is fine and things are not very serious. I go back to cleaning the table. The next couple of hours are very chaotic but then the crowd starts becoming less with every passing moment. At last as we are near closing there are only a couple of people and that is when he steps inside the restaurant. How much I prayed for this day to be over without seeing his face and there he is standing next to the door with his signature grin. Fortunately as I am occupied with another customer someone else attends his table. After a while when I'm done with the tables I was attending. I look at the table near the exit. The one he was sitting on. To my utter dismay he is still there eating a dessert and sipping his coffee. We are minutes away from closing and only two people are in the restaurant. The other customer pays her bill and leaves. As we are supposed to close, one of my colleagues approaches him and informs him about the closing time. He takes a long sip and pays the bill while continuously making eye contact with me. It is that kind of eye contact that makes you sick to your stomach. Everything about this man is disgusting and sinister. He finally leaves and I take a breath of relief. As it was super crowded and most of the clients tipped generously, we made a lot of money. As it had snowed quite heavily earlier the streets were already empty. All the businesses have closed already and everything is quiet. It is almost getting dark the snow shining and a light breeze blowing. The weather is very cold already and the breeze feels like cutting your skin where it touches it. I had walked a fair distance lost in my thoughts when I heard a sound. As I turn around there is no one. I start walking quickly and that is when I hear some footsteps when I look behind when I see him. It is the man from the restaurant grinning and quickens my pace and so does he. I can hear him getting closer so I start running and he follows me. I run as fast as I can walking past everything that comes my way. In my fear I don't even notice that I had taken a wrong turn until I ran past the last human settlements and some apartment buildings near the forest. I enter the forest and keep running until I trip and fall in the heaps of snow. I'm completely breathless gasping for air laying on my back in the icy snow. He stops just in front of me. He starts looking at me in his creepy way starting from my head and ending on my feet. "Finally, got you" he says and then starts hysterically laughing. No! No! It can't be happening. It can't be happening to me. Please God, please help me. Not me please. I can't believe that it will happen to me. These are the things you hear in the news. The things that scare you just by hearing it. Nobody thinks it will happen to them. I never thought I would be another unnamed victim in the news. I don't know what to do. I start looking around for anything I can hit him with and escape. There is nothing except for snow. Nothing that can help me. I sit there helpless not knowing what to do. "What? Looking for something to hit me with, the little girl" he says and again laughs loudly. "You wanna know how it will end? What I'm gonna do to you, ha? You wanna that?" He laughs again. " The moment I saw you for the first time I knew what I'm gonna do to you. I had it all planned out. Well today was not part of the plan but I got lucky. Every single thing I'm gonna do to you is planned out" he says and starts laughing again. "You watch the news it is just gonna be like that" and he grins looking at me. I'm completely frozen. I don't know what to do. My heart feels like it is gonna pop out of my chest. Never in my nightmares have I seen it coming. I'm totally helpless. It is the worst feeling in the world, knowing something so horrible is gonna happen to you and still not being able to do anything. I start crying " please! Please let me go, please! I beg him which makes him laugh. I know very well that my pleading is useless but somehow I still keep crying and begging him. He starts walking towards me and stands just above me. He is near enough that I can hit him if I can. I mustered enough courage and kicked him in the balls. I don't know how I got up from the ground but I did start running even more into the forest. I keep running and keep shouting for help. He is following me again I hear his footsteps but I don't look behind I keep running and shouting until I'm so exhausted that my feet give up and I fall. He gets near me and stops putting his hands on his knees breathing heavily. I start to shout again but no sound comes out. The cold breeze starts blowing fastly. You can hear the rustling of leaves making strange and scary noises. He looks at me staring directly into my eyes and smirks. He extends his hand and removes the scarf around my neck. At this moment I'm frozen like the statue not being able to even move. I hear some howling in the distance and he gets just above me so I can feel his breath on my face. I struggle as much as I can but he is three times my size and holds both my hands in one hand. I can't move anymore no matter what I do.This is it. It is gonna happen now. At last I just close my eyes. I can feel his other hand on my chest trying to unbutton my jacket. All of a sudden the leaves start rustling, there are a lot of movements. I also hear some growls. I hear a loud growl and a loud thud and the weight above me is lifted. But strange noises of something tearing apart come. I open my eyes and with all the force left in my body I lift the upper part of my body. What I see in front of me leaves me speechless. There are two to three huge wolves standing and another one even bigger is ripping that man apart. The snow around is red covered in his blood. I see his limbs flying in the air. The wolf throws what is left of his body and turns around to face me. It is huge and fierce and scary. It starts walking towards me. Standing a few inches away. It extends its face towards me and starts sniffing. It then stops and looks at the sky howling loudly. The other joins in and that is when everything gets darker for me.
