Forty-Six

I was still thinking about her when I got into the house.

“What are you smiling about?” Carrie asked as I walked in.

“Huh?” I snapped back to reality.

“Never mind” She hissed.

I hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.

“Where's everyone?” I asked as I looked around.

She frowned at me and I shrugged before bringing out my phone to call Jenny.

“Who are you calling?”

“Jenny. She said I should call when I get home”

Carrie looked at me and smiled, “Glad to see the date went well. Anyways, it's dinner now so go wash your hands and come help me. Leah is taking a shower now”

“Sure thing chief” I ran upstairs to wash my hands.

I didn't eat well at the restaurant, I was too busy looking at Jenny and too focused on what we were talking about.

I ran back outside and bumped into Leah on my way out of my room.

“You’re back, how did the date go?”

I smiled and rubbed my hands together, “It was great. I'll tell you both about it later, let's eat first. I'm starving” I said as I raced downstairs and back to the kitchen.

Leah followed closely behind.

“I thought the date was at a restaurant” she said, breathlessly.

Carrie looked at me and laughed loudly, “You like her that much?”

Leah looked confused so she nudged her a bit before explaining. “Don’t you get it? Lover boy here was too distracted by the beauty, he couldn't eat properly”

Leah joined in on the laugh as soon as she caught on.

“Let's cook dinner quick before lover boy here passes out” Leah teased.

“You both are something else,” I said as I poured myself some Orange Juice and gulped it.

I noticed a silence I didn't quite understand until I dropped the cup.

Carrie and Leah were staring at me.

They burst into another round of uncontrollable laugh immediately after I looked at them.

They made fun of me the entire dinner and even got Mom in on it too when she came home.

“Mom, don't tell me you're siding with them too” I laughed.

“No of course not baby, I'm just trying to imagine your face trying to listen to Jenny while all you wanted was a cheese burger or something” She said in between laughs.

At this point I just joined in on the laughs too. “Whatever guys, I know. I just like her a lot”

“Oh we know that all right. You don't need to tell us twice” Carrie snickered.

“Yeah I'm going to bed early tonight, big day tomorrow” I said as I got up to stretch.

“Goodnight” I hugged the three of them and dragged myself to bed.

I slept off almost immediately.
