Chapter 22

Chapter 22~New Love!

Selena woke the next day in Michael's arms. She was avoiding her family as well as the press for the night. But now before the show it was going to be time to face the music as they say. Selena knew though that Michael was not going to allow her to face the music alone though. Selena yawns as she sits up in bed.

She glances over at Michael who was sleeping peacefully beside her. She loved that he trusted her to be in his room. He was such a private person. Here he was sleeping like a baby next to her. He looked so handsome as he rested. His chest breaths in then out. He did not even snore really like Chris did.

Most men did tend to snore through the night. She was not sure if she snored or not. The sun light peaked through the curtains.

They had moved her belongings into his room before the family over heard the news on the radio the night before. The guard would not let anyone in their room. So she liked that. Her family would have to wait on her. Answer to her. Thanks to MJ.

He yawns then stirs. His eyes peak open at her.

"Morning, Selena. How long have you been up babe?" he says as he sits up in bed.

"Not long" she answers with a yawn. "I do need coffee" she giggles. "and a shower. The concert is tonight. We do not have a guitar bass player" she mutters.

"I can lend you mine. Not a problem" he offers.

"But my family is not used to outsiders" she worries.

"They will be fine. I am sure once things blow over you and Chris could be friends again. Maybe he will want to come back to the band" he says.

"Doubt that" laughs Selena. "he always wanted his own band. Now he can spread his wings. He won't need me"

"Selena are you having second doubts about this? About us?" he worries.

"No Michael. Not at all. I know where love stands. And I want you and I love you" she softly reminds him. She presses her lips on his. "I do not want Chris back"

"I wanted to make sure is all" he answers.

She nods. "I am sure that is all that matters"

He smiles. "We better go talk to your dad" he sighs.

"I know" worries Selena. "he will be furious with me. This was how they found out I was engaged to Chris" she laughs.

"Is your father that scary to deal with? Do I have something to worry about" he laughs. She laughs to.

"No, dad is just over protective of me is all" says Selena. "All of us kids really"

"I see" he says.

They get around to a new day. Selena showers then dresses. She makes sure to look good for Michael. And heads back into the room. When she enters she finds he bought breakfast for them. Brunch. Everything she could ever want. Bacon. Eggs. Everything.

"Michael!" she gushes.

"Dig in" he says with a boyish grin.

"Did you buy out the restaurant downstairs?" she laughs.

"No well I am not sure" he laughs.

They sit down to have breakfast together.

"How did you sleep last night?" he asks as they begin to eat.

"Like a baby. No tossing. No turning. No worries. I loved being here with you" she sighs. "I feel so good so free" she admits to him. He looks pleased by her answer.

"Good" he tells her.

"How about you?" she asks him. "how did you sleep?"

"Very well as you saw" he chuckles.

"You looked adorable in your boxers" she teases.

He blushes.

"Thanks" he laughs.

"To bad we have to work today" she mutters.

"Life goes on Sel" he replies. She nods.

"But we are doing so well with this tour so far" she tells him.

"We are a great team Sel" he says to her. She blushes now.

"I think so to" she answers.

Suddenly as he smiles over at her someone is pounding on the door.

"Let me in damn it! My daughter is in there! I have a right to see my own damn daughter!" her father barks orders at the guard.

"Dad!" gasps Selena. Her heart begins to race.

She and Michael head to the door. Michael opens the door.

"Come in sir. They are always welcome in here" Michael informs the guard.

"Yes sir" answers the guard.

Her parents were both with her. And Suzette to.

"Why did you not tell us you were planning on dumping Chris during the tour?" her father angrily asks Selena. He looked pissed.

"I did not know what I was planning! I was not planning anything! Dad I fell in love. I can't help who I love" snaps Selena.

"You were in love with Chris. Hiding things with Chris to! Selena will you never learn?" her mother retorts angrily. "we are a part of this to. And you always seem to leave your family out of the loop"

"Now we have no guitar player" warns her father. "Chris left. He went home" as he waves his hands about.

"Not that she even cares" snaps her mother. "you were so in love. And you fall out of love like that?" her mother asks. "you planned on marrying the man. Now nothing? I do not understand"

"MJ let me talk to my father on the deck alone. It will be okay" says Selena to her family and Michael.

"Talk to my mom" Selena whispers to MJ as she touches his arm.

She leads her dad to the back deck. They sit down together. Her father looked frustrated.

"You gave us hell about dating Chris. Then I let him come back to the band then you dump him. I just do not understand you Selena" grumbles her dad.

"Dad, I could not marry someone I did not love. I care for him. I always will. But I truly love Michael. And things had been bad with Chris and I. I did not tell you but he had been drinking again after I was shot. I could not watch him ruin his life. And we fought a lot. Michael makes me happy. Can't you be happy for us? For me?" she begs softly for him to understand her choices. "I did not want to marry when it was not love. It would have hurt me and Chris"

"That is right. Marriage is forever in this family. You understand that Selena. I knew Chris was drinking again but I tried to let it slide. Because he was so upset when you were shot. I am sorry things did not work out with Chris. But you are right it is good you learned this before the wedding" says her father.

"I am sorry I did not tell you dad" she woefully says.

"I am sorry you felt you could not tell me Selena" he answers. "you can always come to me with anything" he says. "I want you to know this"

"I will dad. I promise you" she laughs as she hugs him.

"I just want you to be happy Selena" he tells her.

"I am. Michael makes me happy. For the first time since I had been shot he makes me feel safe. And free. I need that" she explains. "He loves you guys to. I did not want you to think badly of him. Michael and I did not do anything. We waited until after I broke things off with Chris" explains Selena.

"I guess I get it. I hope things work out for you. And you are happy. That is what matters to me Selena" says her dad.

They hug. Then head back in. Selena hugs her mom. Then they leave.

"Well that went better then I thought" Selena breaths out.

"Is your dad mad at me?" worries Michael.

She shakes her head. "He was sad that I felt I could not tell him"

"Oh, I see" says Michael. "I am so glad things all worked out"

"My brother is still angered with me" worries Selena as Michael holds her close. "he and Chris were tight"

"I am sure he will come around" says Michael.

"I hope you are right" says Selena.

"I love you Michael. We finally are free to be together. I can't wait to start this new adventure with you" Selena happily remarks.

She looks up at him.

"I love you to Selena. With all my heart" he answers before she leans up to kiss him on his lips. Giving him all the love she had been holding onto just for him.
