Chapter 18

Chapter 18~Backstage Passes!

Selena was in her hotel room getting around to be ready for the concert. She hoped she would not blow things like the other night. She humiliated herself in front of everyone. Plus, she had made Chris upset with her. He had been right. And then Michael saved her.

She had made her life a mess and she could not get out of the mess she created. Now there was going to be an awkward rift between Michael and Chris.

There already was one but this was going to be ten times worse. Chris hardly talked to her all night. They slept facing apart. She could feel the distance growing between them.

She hated this. Chris was her best friend. But so was Michael. Selena sighs. She was ready. Chris was getting ready for the night. She heads out of the bathroom. Then sits on the bed to get her high heels on her feet. She had the new magazines there on the bed. She and Michael were all over them.

"I will be ready shortly" is all Chris mutters to her as he takes off to the bathroom.

Someone knocks on the door.

"Come on in" Selena calls out to them.

"Hey sis are you sure you can do this show?" AB asks as he comes in with Suzette.

She nods. "I am more than ready"

"Good answer. How is Chris doing?" Suzette wonders.

"He is upset with me and the press" sighs Selena.

"I can't say as I blame him" chuckles AB.

"It was not my fault" declares Selena as she defends her actions.

"You should have listened to Chris yesterday" points out Suzette.

She sighs. "Can y'all stop? Please!." murmurs Selena.

Before long Chris comes out. "Hey guys" he says as he hardly looks at Selena.

"Let's go we have a show to do" Suzette cheerfully says as she tries to break the tension in the room.

They head out. Catching the limo that was waiting for them. They get to the stadium. Fans cheered for her as she went inside. There were signs saying "We Love You Selena" and "Get Well Selena" and "You Got This" for her. That cheered her right up. Her fans understood.

They get back stage and found Michael with his band. And he was ready to go.

He looked so handsome wearing his gold outfit she had created just for him. He notices Selena walking in. his eyes light up. And he smiles her way causing her heart to skip a beat.

"Are you ready Selena? We can call this off" offers Michael.

"No I am perfectly fine" she tells him. "as long as you are still singing with me tonight?" she asks.

"Sure am" he tells her.

The people soon pack in the place. Excitement was in the air.

"Can you believe they are here to see you?" Selena asks Michael.

"No they are here to see us" he tells her with a smile. She smiles back.

Chris, AB, and Suzette were getting ready with the rest of the Dino's. Selena heads to the stage with her microphone in her hand. Michael goes over to her.

"Remember what we went over?" he asks her.

She nods. "Of course I do" she says. "Thank you for doing this"

"You are so welcome. I would do anything for you Selena" he promises. "you know I have your back"

"I know you do" she answers with a smile.

"Listen, do you think we can talk after the show? Away from the others?" he softly asks her. "I want to know where you are at with us" he tells her.

Before she can answer the question the band begins to play. The crowd cheers. Selena glances over at AB.

"It is time to start the show guys!" AB calls out to them.

Selena nods. "We will talk later" she promises Michael.

"Welcome, DC! So glad to be back with you all!" calls out Selena to the crowd. They cheer. "Are you ready to rock?"

More cheering.

"I said are you ready to rock?" she demands to know.

They get louder.

"I would like to sing a new song I wrote for the love of my life. It is a song none of you have heard yet. I can't wait to share it with you all. Are you ready?" she asks them. They cheer yes.

Music begins to play for her.

"Late at night when all the world, is sleeping, I stay up and dream of you. And I wish on a star, that some where you are thinking of me to" Selena croons into her microphone.

"Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight, till tomorrow I'll be holding you tight. And there is no where in the world I'd rather be, then here my room" Michael sings walking on stage with her.

"Dreaming about you and me" they sing together. The crowd goes crazy.

Butterflies jumble in her stomach. She was filled with excitement to hear Michael sing her song with her. It was just such a magical moment for her.

After they sang together the concert went as planned. It went smoothly. It was thrilling to watch Michael in action. Singing all his new songs.

It had Suzette and Selena dancing back stage. Chris was in impressed. He was talking with her brother backstage most of the time. After the show came the meet and greet.

Selena was setting up to sign autographs for fans. Michael was getting ready also.

"Selena about before, think we can talk tonight?" he asks her. Then fans begin to flow into the room.

"We will talk later MJ" Selena promises him. He nods.

Selena tried to focus as she signed photos for fans. Took photos with fans. Girls were screaming Michael's name. Hanging all over him.

One girl even got to close and kissed him right on the lips. Jealousy filled Selena's stomach. She did not like seeing fan girls grabbing at Michael. But they were not an official couple. She had no claim on him. He could do what he wanted.

"Selena this guy wants an autograph" Suzette orders her.

"Sorry" Selena snaps out of it. She signs the photo.

"Thanks" the guy says before heading on his way.

"What has gotten into you" Suzette asks her. "you look green with jealousy" laughs Suzette.

"Because I am" mutters Selena. "I hate seeing those girls pawing at him"

"You know he has the hots for you. No worries" Suzette teases.

"I am not his. He is not mine. He can do as he pleases" scoffs Selena.

"Maybe you need to call of the wedding to Chris. And take time to figure out where your heart is" points out Suzette.

"That is just it. I don't know. But I do know I hate to share. I hate seeing them hanging all over him" she grumbles as she pouts.

"Michael we loved the new album" an excited very pretty girl exclaims. She had long perfect blond hair. She was tall. She was tan. She was pretty. She hugs Michael. And kisses him on the cheek. "I have been a fan since the 70's. I love you so so much" she gushes. "here is the hotel I am at for the night. I live a few cities over. Please come to my room. I would love to show you a good time" coos the woman.

"Thanks but I have plans. And I fly out in the morning" Michael tells her.

"I need a break my line is nearly done" groans Selena. She signs the rest of the autographs then she gets her bottle of water. She heads to the dressing room she had in the back.

She kicks the little garbage can in the room. "Grrrr" she growls with anger.

She was so frustrated. Tears come to her. What if while he was figuring things out, she loses Michael to someone else? And she would lose him and Chris both. Tears come to her. She could not bare it. She was stressing out.

"Selena what is wrong?" Michael asks as he follows her into the dressing room.

She yanks him into her arms. Planting a kiss on his lips. He returns her kisses.

"Selena, what is going on?" he demands to know as he stops the kisses.

"I can't stand this. Hiding us. Then all the fan girls were all over you" she admits.

"It is not easy for me to see you with Chris either" he points out.

She groans. "I know Michael. None of this is easy. I hate this" groans Selena.

He kisses her again.

"Do you want to tell them all? Be with me?" he begs to know.

"I would love to. If it could be that easy" she sighs.

"Selena it can be that easy" Michael points out.

"I can't do this right now" Selena protests. "It will crush Chris"

"It is hurting you. I hate to see you hurting" he points out.

She leans up kissing him.

"Just give me more time. I will tell everyone. I need more time" she promises him. "will you?"

"I will" he grumbles.

"Michael, you know I care so much about you. I promise this will all work out" she vows.

"I hope so. I hate not being with you. I hate seeing you in his arms. It hurts inside. And I can't stand feeling this way" he admits.

"Same here Michael. When I saw those girls hanging all over you, I could hardly stand it" she sighs.

"I think what this is, could be a breakthrough Selena. You are getting closer to your true feelings" he points out to her.

"You really think so?" asks Selena.

He nods. "I do. And it will all be clear to you soon" he says. He kisses her. "I know your meant to be me, Selena. You are not meant to be with Chris. You are meant to be with me" he says to her. He looked so sure of himself.

She lets him lean in and kiss her once more time. Getting rid of the craving feeling deep within her.

She had to figure things out before she lost two men she loved. She could not bare the thought of hurting either one of them. But one of them was going to get hurt when the end came.
