The next morning, Mia woke to find herself curled up next to Lucas.
The events of the previous night came rushing back to her, and she couldn't help but feel a mixture of embarrassment and satisfaction. She had never felt so free, so uninhibited, and yet so vulnerable. She looked at Lucas, still sleeping, and wondered what it all meant.
“He didn't turn me away,” she thought. “What does that mean?”
She sat up in bed, pulling the covers up around her. She felt a mix of emotions: confusion, elation, and fear. She wasn't sure what to make of it all.
Mia lay still, pretending to be asleep, as she heard Lucas stir.
She held her breath, not wanting to move, not wanting him to know she was awake. But then he spoke. “I know you're not asleep,” he said, turning to look at her.
Mia's heart skipped a beat. She turned to face him, a nervous smile on her face. “Good morning,” she said, her voice trembling slightly.
But Lucas's expression was serious, and he said nothing in response. He gathered up his clothes from the floor and headed for the door. He paused, his hand on the doorknob.
The words hit Mia like a punch to the gut. She felt like the air had been knocked out of her.
She had thought that they had shared something special, but he had just dismissed it as a mistake.
“I won't give him the satisfaction,” she thought. “I'm stronger than this.”
“I don’t care what it was”, Mia said, trying to sound strong, even though she felt anything but. “I’m not here to make you accept me, or anything like that.
I'm here for one thing, and one thing only: revenge on the Bloodcrest.” She forced herself to keep her face impassive, even though her emotions were a roiling storm inside her.
“Last night was just the heat of the moment,” she said, her voice steady. “If it hadn't been you, it would have been someone else. So don't worry, I'm not expecting anything from you.”
Lucas stood frozen for a moment, taking in what Mia had said. Then he turned and walked out of the room without another word.
Mia watched him go, feeling a strange mix of relief and disappointment. “That went better than expected,” she thought, trying to convince herself that she really did feel that way. But deep down, she knew she was lying to herself.
The months passed by, and Ella's training intensified. She pushed herself to her limits, determined to get stronger, to get her revenge.
Every day was a new challenge, and every night she collapsed into bed, exhausted but satisfied. She could feel herself growing stronger, her power growing with each passing day.
But even as her body grew stronger, her heart ached for the friend she had lost. She vowed to herself that she would never forget Ciara, and that her death would not be in vain.
One day, after an especially grueling training session, she heard a knock at the door
.Mia opened the door, and there, standing in the doorway, was Kira, the same woman who had been so hostile to her the first time they had met.
“What are you doing here?” Mia asked, her voice tense. “I should be asking you the same thing,” Kira replied, her expression unreadable. “What are you doing here, in Lucas home?”
Mia took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. “I'm here because I want to get stronger,' she said. “I want to be able to protect myself and my friends. I'm not going to let what happened to Ciara repeat itself” she added.
Kira laughed, the sound cruel and mocking. “Oh please, spare me the lies,” she said. “I know why you're really here. You think you can come in and seduce Lucas, and he'll take you back as his Fated Mate. But let me make one thing clear: Lucas is mine. He loves me, and only me. And your presence here will never change that.” Her voice was cold, and there was a hint of menace in her tone.
Mia was taken aback by her words. “You're wrong,” she said, her voice shaking slightly. “I’m only here because I want to stop the Bloodcrest as much as you guys do”.
“You can train as much as you want, but you'll never be anything more than the rejected mate of the Alpha King,” Kira said, her words like a dagger to Mia's heart. “No matter how hard you work, you'll never be strong enough. You'll always be second best, and you'll never be able to reach your full potential. You can try as hard as you like, but it won't make any difference.” With that, she turned and left, her words hanging in the air like a dark cloud.
Mia stood there, stunned by what she had heard. She knew Kira was the most powerful werewolf female she had ever seen. Her mother was a witch and her father a former alpha. Before Mia was mates with Lucas rumours went around saying Kira was the predestined alpha female and the one the moon goddess would choose for Lucas.
“Why did I get chosen instead?” She thought. “I’m no match against Kira!”
Despite what she had told herself, Mia knew that she was still hurt by the fact that Lucas had chosen Kira over her.
She knew that she shouldn't feel this way, but she couldn't help it. She felt like she had lost something important, and she was struggling to accept it. She knew that Kira would be a problem.
Mia knew that she needed to accept the situation and move on.
As she stood there, lost in her thoughts, she heard a voice behind her. She turned to see Lucas standing there.
“What are you doing here?” Lucas asked, breaking into her thoughts. “Shouldn't you be training?”
“Yes,” Mia said, trying to compose herself. “Your... girlfriend was here.”
Lucas looked up and saw Kira in the distance, walking away. “Why did she leave?” he asked, his voice tense.
“She didn't want to stay,” Mia said, knowing that she had no choice but to tell him the truth.
Lucas shook his head and stormed off, clearly upset.
Later that night, In her dream, Mia found herself in a dark hallway, the shadows lengthening around her. Suddenly, she heard a voice, calling out to her.
“Don't you want to know the truth, Mia?” it said. “I can open your eyes. I can make you stronger. All you have to do is come to me.” The voice was deep and dark, and Mia recognized it immediately. It was Ethan, the leader of the Bloodcrest.
But she wasn't sure if it was real or just a dream. “You know where to find me,” the voice said, and then faded away.
As Mia sat up in bed, her heart was pounding and her breathing was ragged. It had just been a dream, but it had felt so real. What did Ethan mean by the secret? What was he trying to lure her into?.
She got out of bed and looked around the room, disoriented. As she did, she noticed that the moonlight shining through the window was dim, and she checked the clock to see that it was midnight.
Without thinking twice, Mia got out of bed and pulled on her riding gear. She knew she was being reckless, but she had to know what Ethan was talking about.
She had to know what the secret was, and she knew that Lucas wouldn't tell her. She was desperate for answers, and she knew that Ethan was onto something.
She grabbed her bike and rode off into the night, heading for the foggy forest. She was scared, but she had to do this. She had to know the truth.
“I knew you'd come,” Ethan said, his voice low and taunting. “I knew your curiosity would get the better of you.” Mia tried to stand tall, but inside, she was shaking. “What is it that you want to tell me?” she asked, trying to sound strong. “Start talking.”
Ethan smiled. “You're not in any position to make demands,” he said, his voice calm and menacing.
Mia's heart was pounding in her chest. She had to be careful.
Ethan took a step toward Mia, a smirk playing on his lips. “Your father, Mia,” he began, his voice sickly sweet, “was one of us. He was a member of the Bloodcrest.”
Mia felt her heart drop. “No,” she whispered. “No, you're lying.” But even as she said the words, she knew they weren't true.
She had always known that her father's death had been suspicious, and now the pieces were falling into place.
Ethan took another step toward her, his eyes cold and hard. “He was devoted to our cause”
“I know you know, deep down, that your father's death wasn't just an accident,” Ethan said, his voice icy.
“He was murdered. He was killed for being a member of the Bloodcrest, and his death was covered up. That is the sort of people you're fighting with, Mia.
They see anyone who is different from them as worthless, and they'll do anything to silence them.”
Mia shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. “You're lying,” she said, her voice shaking. “I don't believe you.”
“Oh and here is the good part” Ethan whispered. “The one who killed your father was none other than your loving, charming Lucas. He is the murderer who took your father from you!” Ethan laughed evilly.
Mia felt like the world was spinning around her. “You're lying,” she whispered.
“Now that you know the truth, you can join us,” Ethan said, his voice low and persuasive.
“We can get revenge for your father's death, and his death won't be in vain. Just think of what he would want you to do.”
Mia took a step back, shaking her head. “No,” she said, her voice firm. “I can't join you. You killed my best friend, and you're trying to manipulate me. I won't let you.”
“I'm just trying to help you see the truth,” Ethan said, his expression hardening.
