Ivy POV
I wanted to hear what he had to say, I didn’t want to make judgements, although the way he began made my heart squeeze.
“She is a guest here temporarily…” Conrad pauses a moment, he looks like he’s worried about whatever he has to say next. “She’s from Alpha Brody’s Pack..” He says finally, I stiffen, Alpha Brody..
“She caused some trouble as she is yet to meet her mate, and was sent here in case her mate was in our pack, she’ll go to the Pearl pack next.” Conrad continues, but my bloods run cold, I feel Broc move but I raise a hand to stop him.
I run my eyes over Conrad, really looking for the first time since arriving, it had barely been two weeks since I’d seen him last but so much had changed.
I knew I was falling for Broc, his words from earlier still circled in my head, but here in front of me, sat Conrad and despite his recent failures, I could still feel the pull between us.
He looked exhausted, large black circles could be seen under his eyes, his usually bright silver eyes are weary and haunted. He also appears dishevelled in appearance, from his hair to his clothes, the sight twisted many emotions in me.
“She has been trouble since she got here less then a month ago, and since you..” He pauses again. “Died, well she’s only escalated.” Conrad swallows, I’m glad Broc hasn’t interrupted, though as I sneak a glance, I see information of my death has bothered and confused him.
“Ok, well I don’t think I’m ready to hear the events of the other night just yet, so how’s the pack been?” I ask, earning a sorrowful look from Conrad, before he rubs his face with both hands.
I hear someone mind-link me.
“Hey Ivy, I’m here, with Jace and umm.. Garrett.” It’s Florain.
“Ok I’ll send someone to meet you.” I reply.
Then cut the mind-link.
“Sorry Conrad, Florain, Jace and Garrett are hear, but don’t get up.” I say holding a finger up, he frowns but nods.
I turn to Broc who straightens at my attention, I mind-link him for privacy, not wanting to lose Conrad’s attention to his emotions again.
“Broc, can you please go occupy my friends whom have just arrived, and inform them that Conrad and I have some catching up to do.”
“Of course, will you be ok with him?” Broc asks in reply, his voice sounding hesitant.
“I’ll be fine, I’d also like to hear about the other night alone, as my Mate, I owe him that much. I can tell he is a bit unsure with you company.” I say as kindly as I can.
Broc nods reluctantly, then bows to me and nods briefly to Conrad before making an exit.
I turn to Conrad, as the door shuts behind Broc.
Conrad POV
I relax a little as the Alpha Broc leaves the room, he’d barely said two words since he came into the office and I already envied his relationship with Ivy, I could see he respects her deeply and never argued when she sent him away.
I hadn’t been able to serve her in such a way, my pride and ego had been so inflated since I’d met her, I’d been kind and yet still thought less of her then my equal.
Had I truly lost my chance at redemption?
I wanted to feel remorse for the other night, I wanted to say I regretted it and that Ivy was the only one I’d ever thought of, but that would be a lie.
Although the bond made every touch with her like an addiction, I had thought of others when she’d be away and had recently been struggling with my lust relating to the she-wolf Natalie.
She had ignited something in me those few nights ago, I could feel it, more then instinct, a flickering flame of passion.
Ivy’s watched waiting me to speak, taking a deep breath, I began.
“I’ll be honest, it’s been tough, I’ve been doing my job to the best of my ability since I left you in the mountains, but mostly it was long days of the pack’s guilt and worries over losing you.” I confide, whilst trying not to frown.
“I’ve been feeling a lot of guilt on my part of your death’s, though things have began to go back to normal, some things have changed.” I continue, Ivy says nothing just nods and listens, I can see she’s concerned.
“I’ve put my emotions aside for that last few days, it has improved productivity with the Pack, as its given the illusion that I’m fine..” I continue, I know I’m rambling now, my emotions are finally boiling over.
“But I’m not Ivy, s**t, I’m so not!” I shout, tears threatening, I exhale loudly.
“Hey it’s ok, first I was coming back for this Florain thing, but I’m glad I came back now, why didn’t you call or mind-link me that you’re struggling?” Ivy asks, her voice hurt.
“Because I don’t want to worry you, you have enough on your plate.” I reply, offering a tight smile.
“I was hurt, but I still care for you Conrad, I’m still you mate, although my trust is a little fragile at the moment.” She pauses swallowing and I know what she says next is the truth. “Even more fragile after the other night…Did you know I could feel everything you felt?” She asks me, now it’s my turn to swallow. “I felt each kiss, every touch and the arousal you felt, then the betrayal more painful then I could describe..” She stops again, Ivy’s looking at her hands in her lap.
“Just like the scars we once shared, I feel everything..” She finishes, my heart clenches for her, I feel like a d**k.
“Everything?” I ask, my heart quickens as her eyes meet mine.
“Everything.” She confirms.
We are both silent for a long moment gazing at each other.
Broc POV
I leave the room at Ivy’s request, reluctantly but I respect her too much to decline.
For the first time in 1000 years I had hope, someone might love me, and I wasn’t so stupid as to risk it over my insecurities.
Which was easier said then done, I still pouted to myself, I’d wanted to hear exactly what had happen between Conrad and the she-wolf.
Shaking the thoughts from my head, I shoved my hands in my pocket, reaching the door in time to watch to 3 people enter, a dark haired woman and 2 men.
The black haired man, I recognised had been in the car when Ivy had first arrived on the mountain, he shared many similarities with Conrad and had to be of some relation, the other two I did not know.
They all stopped upon seeing me descend the stairs, the other brown haired male seemed to stiffen on my approach and he looked ready to run, intriguing me further.
I grinned widely, my eyes would be bright with excitement, this must be the girl we were here to see, but who were the other two?
“Hello, My name is Broc, I’ve been sent by Ivy to occupy you until she is done speaking with Conrad.” I tried to sound polite but my excitement creeped into my voice.
“Hello, My name is Florain.” The girl spoke first, then nodded to the other two.
“My name is Jace, I am beta here at Blackwater.” The Black hair male said, his expression reminding me of Conrad’s as he watched me.
Finally the last one spoke, though he tried not to meet my eyes as he did.
“My name is Garrett, Pleasure Alpha.” He said nervously, my eyes widened with interest; did he know me? The others seemed surprised for a moment before bowing respectfully.
“Well let us wait in the living room.. as asked by her.. the Alpha.” I say causally, so any eavesdroppers may not understand but these 3 nod in understanding.
