Now you know, What will you do?

Ivy’s POV “Do you have… feelings for Natalie?” I ask, my heart racing, I’d wanted Conrad to feel hurt as I hurt but as my true-mate, in my dreams we still spent eternity together, each annual ball we spun together on the dance floor, floating and spinning like an eternal dance. Conrad’s eyes betrayed him before he spoke. “I believe I do..” He says, his silver eyes seemed to dull to grey for a moment, I rubbed my eyes, did I imagine it? Looking now they were silver as usual, I shook the thought away. He then clears his throat, pondering a question himself a moment before speaking. “Have you read “The Forbidden King” Conrad asks. “No I haven’t, should I of?” I ask, he says nothing for a moment and then. “Let me tell you the story, and then you can ask me again, if you feel the need.” He says, I frown in confusion, he opens the draw of the desk he is seated at, pulling out an old book, he flips to the book marked page, and begins to read.   “Once there was an Alpha, whom loved the moon so, night after night he’d stand and gaze at it’s beauty. For this he’d been gifted a silvery gaze that pierce into those who met him, and spoke of his devotion without words. His silver gaze would be passed down through the generations, only the unworthy or failed shall lose it’s glimmer. But this man’s brother did not possess such a gift, his eyes were black, he did not worship the moon as his brother, instead he’d lured and betrayed the goddess whom had fallen in love with the man. At discovery of his betrayal, she offered him a choice, a nameless bundle or eternal power as an Alpha King, he’d chosen power, the cost, his happiness, the unmated Alpha would never recognise his mate and though he bore many children, non would recognise their mates either, the would grow to be mad or resentful of others and of him. After many failed generations, hundreds of years of searching for his other half, The Forbidden King disappeared. He’d spend eternity alone, for the bundle he’d refused was his other-half and would grow up amongst wolves, finding a mate, then after many generations who’s bloodline, would be lost to the times. The goddess ignored his empty apologies, for she’d never loved another, as she had loved him, nor would she ever let herself love another as she had had let herself love him. Though their pack’s names have been lost to time, no one will forget the fate divided brothers, Silver eyed Corbain and Broc the Forbidden King.” Conrad finished, my body trembled, I clasped my hands tightly. “You know who Broc is?” I ask, my mouth dry and my heart thudding against my chest. “Yes I do, but did you?” He asks, his tone cautious, I bit my lip and nod. Conrad’s eye bulge in surprise, he looks disgusted and betrayed at the knowledge. “Then why have you stayed? Why are you with him?” He asks. “Because the goddess requested I get something from him.” I say, feeling hurt by his reaction. “What did she ask you to get?” He presses, I shake my head. “I’m no allowed to say..” I reply. Conrad’s face contorts in pain and anger for a moment. “And what does he want in return?” He asks finally, I stiffen at the question and pause my fidgeting. I gather my confidence and straighten in my seat, I was Alpha Queen now I would not be bullied, though I knew my answer would hurt him. “Me.” I said so softly I barely heard myself, I cleared my throat and tried again. “Me, he wants me in return.” Conrad stiffens, he grips the edge of his desk until his fingers have left indents in the wood. “He wants you… And what did you say?” He asks, his eyes darkened, I can see his wolf surfacing, but I don’t let myself shrink under their gaze. “I say no at first… But my feelings towards him have changed after the other night…” I start, Conrad seems to flinch, his actions have helped. “He was kind and gentle, comforting me as I said I felt everything…accompanied by excessive pain..” I confide, my bottom lip trembling, I lower my eyes for a second to collect myself. “I’ve told him I’ll think about it.” I say looking into Conrad’s eyes once again, so he can see my conviction. “Think about what?” He asks with both venom and bewilderment. “Would I consider choosing him as my mate…” I say with more confidence then I feel. Conrad’s eyes bulge, then blacken, his wolf Kon has taken over, the usually laid back wolf is seething. “You traitorous b***h!” Kon’s voice is deeper then Conrad’s, I can see a fight for control, but Conrad’s eyes remain black. “You’d choose another over your True-mate?” He growls. “You’d take my chance with Agni away from me…” My hearts squeezes. He’s stalking around the table, I stand, my eyes remain on him as I do, he pauses but moves past me to the door. I freeze as he lock’s it, then blocks it with his towering form, I’ve never felt so intimidated by Conrad’s size and strength until now. “Now….Alpha Queen… I think I’ve let you go too many times unmarked…” He chuckles darkly, as he moves slowly towards me. “Seems you’re about to make us both your Mate and your King… I’ve never met another that anger’s me the way you do… should make for an interesting eternity.” He says, a greasy tone in his voice.   I look around, I’m not sure I can overpower him, suddenly.. I realise what I have to do… it’s time to make a choice.     Broc POV I leaned back in the recliner that I was seated in, the Black hair male; Jace and the woman; Florain were seated across from me on the couch, the brown hair male; Garrett sat in the recliner to my right, his jaw had remained clenched and eyes averted most of the time we’d been seated. The silence had got to much, so I decided to try at some conversation, but only after straining to anything from the office above, but being 2 floors down I hadn’t expected to. “So how do you all know..” I pause for a moment, when Garrett fills the gap. “Princess..” He says, I nod. “How do you all know princess?” I ask, Florain straightens about to go first when Garrett interrupts. “We met at school, we dated for a few months we were happy, we were in love, before she realised I was a werewolf too, an Alpha and flipped.” He shakes his head. “Of course my Beta and Gamma, had a hand in the details, I followed her to Freestone, where I accepted she’d found her mate…” He grinds his teeth, I frown. “And I returned upon finding out she’d..” He pauses, looking at Florain and Jace. “Well you know the rest..” he finishes with a wave of his hand. Jace goes next upon seeing Florain suddenly sullen again. “I met her shortly before Conrad at a pub, she was stunning but at the time she had..” He pauses “A mark that linked her to my brother..” He says, I immediately acknowledge the connection, a brother explains their similarities. “Then through her relationship with my brother.” He shrugs, nodding to Florain. “I’m running.” She states, catching everyone’s attention, even I blink. “I’m running from an Alpha, a cruel Alpha, he was my mothers choosen mate but when she died of a rouge attack when I was 15, he locked me up so I could never leave him.” She shuddered. “But I got out, I ran, I’d heard of the dark moon ball, a chance for werewolf to find their other halves, that’s how I ended up in Freestone.” She smiles. “It’s where I met.. Princess, she was the first kind person to me since my mother’s passing, the Alpha ordered no one to talk or touch me, I’d been lonely for 3 years now and her first smile was like a ray of sunshine in my life again.” Florain says, then looking to Jace. “She lead me to my own pocket of sunshine.” Her words seem to soften Jace’s posture a little. “How about you Alpha?” Florain asks with a dazed smile. I’m about to speak when I feel it, Fear, it’s heavy, then Panic. ‘Broc! Help…’ Ivy’s voice breaks into my mind, I snap my eyes upwards, the other’s follow my gaze and I move, sprinting up the stairs I take two at a time. My hearts slamming against my ribcage, I hear the others following, but I donn’t slow. “I’m coming!” I shout into the mind-link. I reach the third floor, racing down the hall, I reef of the door but it doesn’t budge, I push, it groan’s but holds firm. The others are at my side, we can hear snarling within, then a howl of pain. I can feel my wolf clawing to the surface, I move back with the two males at my sides then we run at the door, shoving it hard. It splinters apart at the impact, but I don’t wait I’ve already shifted, but am pulled up short, both wolves before me are pitch black, identical in size, with ears pinned back. It’s then I see one of the wolves coats almost translucent as it shimmers like water under the sun, my heart stalls, Ivy. I’d yet to see her shifted, it’s beautiful, for a moment her gaze slides to mine, she sucks in a breath, she’s yet to see me transformed in full light. Conrad takes advantage of the moment between us and lunges.
