Chapter sixteen - Thunderstorm

Xavi's POV: Sometimes I can't understand myself. I don't want to be around girls except for the usual, but at the same time, I want to keep Alexia. She is no one. Well, that's what I was thinking. Now I can't say the same. She is not bad and, to be honest, I like spending time with her. It's not like we are always together. For the past week, I have tried to avoid her. Let's say that the mission failed. Alexia told me I had to go home, but I didn't want to. I go there only to get some things. Every time I see the same thing. There is a new woman every day. I wish that dad could stick to one. After all, there is a reason why I ran away. I have to say that it's not that bad. I keep taking money from dad. At least I will learn how to save them. For some reason, after I moved out, my interest went lower. It's like I don't want to do anything. Well, adult life changes people. I still don't care about anyone, but at least I learned to live alone. There isn't a way that I will go back home. Even if this house falls apart, I will move to another one. I found many abandoned ones on this street. As long as nobody sees me, I am good. I don't think it's illegal, but it's better if no one knows about me. I don't want to have problems. I can always call Alexia for help, but I won't do it. Life taught me that you have to do everything alone. No one will help you. That is why I am in this state. I might look homeless, but I feel good. I hope that my life can get back to normal. I woke up a little bit freezing. For the past two days, it has been raining. The walls are wet, and the room is cold. I don't think that there is electricity here. I never tried to turn on the lamp. Let's say that I was afraid the house might get burned. Since it has been raining, it's better if I don't do it. I would love to have a warm blanket and a cup of hot drink. Well, only in my dreams. I can't have that. Sometimes I want to feel like an ordinary person, but I know it's impossible. It looks like the sun won't shine for me. I got ready and went to school. At least the temperature is not that low. I walked in and saw Alexia talking with Taylor. I walked to my locker and pulled out my phone. Let's see if I can find a better place to stay. It's better if it can be for free. That is mission impossible. Everything nice needs money. I don't have that much. In that case, I can live in the house. I don't want to go home, so nothing else has left me. - Hey, what are you doing? I looked up to see Alexia. I didn't even notice that she was there. It's better if she doesn't know about my wet problem. Well, as long as I don't plug anything in, the house will be fine. - Nothing. Checking social media. - Do you have plans for the afternoon? - No, I don't. Why? - I thought maybe you would like to go out with me. - Why would I want that? - Because I am the only girl that you know. - So? I never said that I wanted to be with you. - I was stupid to believe that you could change. - she said and left Yes, I am a jacka*s. If this is the only way to push her away, I will do it. She needs to find friends. Better than me. I can't offer her anything. I looked up and saw Taylor. Great. Let's see what she wants. - You know that she won't give up. - Look, I don't need a lecture. - Alexia is not a bad girl. You can trust her. - Friends always defend each other. I, from the other side, won't defend anyone. I'm sorry, but I prefer to be alone. - Why? Don't you want to have friends? - All I want is for people to stop messing with my life. - I said and left Why are people so annoying? Usually, when you cut off someone, they give up. It looks like girls here are more stubborn. I walked into class, and the only free place was next to Alexia. You have to be kidding me. I sat next to her and pulled out my phone. Luckily, mine was next to the window. The whole class, I watched how it rains. It's not like this is something interesting. Well, it's better than talking to her. - Are you mad at me? - No. - Then why are you so cold? - Leave me alone. She didn't say anything and grabbed my hand. Who the heck does she think she is? I quickly pulled away and turned around. I can let girls close, but there is a line that they can't cross. Until the end of the class, we didn't talk. That way is better. Maybe I am in a bad mood. I feel that lately, Alexia has become clingy. She is like a little kid. After the class, I walked to my locker. Of course, she walked after me. - Will you tell me what is going on with you? - I don't need to tell you anything. - Why? Am I that bad? - I didn't say that. - Then what? I won't hurt you. - Can't you stop being clingy and leave me alone? - What? Do you really think that? - Yes, I do. You can't fix everyone, so stop trying. You are wasting your time. - Well, I'm sorry I tried to be nice to you. Next time, I will act like you. Like an assw***e. - It's not like you can do it. - Wait and see. - she said and left At least I got rid of her. Until the end of the school day, I didn't talk with her. It was still raining, and I had no umbrella. Isn't this great? I walked to the house. Let's say that I got wet. I wish that I could dry myself, but I can't. I can go home, but there is no point. I am already wet. All I can do is change myself into dry clothes. I laid on the bed and decided to take a nap. I can't go out. Neither have plans. Sleeping is my only option. When I woke up, I saw Alexia in front of me. What the heck is she doing here? I don't remember inviting her. I can throw her away, but it's raining. Well, I guess that she has an umbrella. Good for her. - What are you doing here? - I came to see you. The whole house is wet. - So? - It's cold here. You might get sick. - Alexia, stop acting like my mom and go away. I didn't invite you here. - I know, but I couldn't leave you like that. Here, take this blanket. At least it will keep you warm during the night. - Thanks, but there was no need. I'm fine. - Keep saying it until you believe it. - Please, go away. - Why? So you can be alone and wet. - As you can see, I am dry. - But your clothes are not. By the way, I moved them. Maybe you haven't noticed, but it was raining on them. They were never going to dry. You need to think more. - Just go away. - If that is what you want, I will do it. - Finally. - I will leave you the umbrella. In case you need it. - You can take it. I would rather be wet than use something from you. - Why do you hate me so much? - I don't hate you. - Yes, you do. I'm trying to be nice to you, but you don't want to understand. - Alexia, I want to be alone. - And I want to be with you. - What? - Nothing. I mean that I don't want to leave you alone. You don't even have friends. - Why do you care so much about me? - Because I know what it is to be a loner. - Really? - In middle school, no one wanted to be my friend. According to everyone, I was weird. I guess that nerds don't have friends. - I'm sorry. - In high school, I decided to change. I tried to interact with people more. Yes, I'm trying to keep my good grades. Also, I want to have friends. It wasn't easy, but I wanted to do it. - Did you succeed? - What do you think? - I'm expecting you to tell me. - The answer is no. I talked with people only in school. Well, recently, I started talking with Taylor. She is not that bad. - Now you are talking with me. - True. We heard thunder, and she quickly hid under the quilt. I tried to look at her, but she grabbed it tightly. I managed to remove it and looked at her. - Are you ok? - I'm scared of thunders. - What? - This is since I was little. In kindergarten, one woman told us something. Someone would come to get us if we didn't sleep during the thunder. I know it's not true, but I'm still scared because it's loud. - I'm sorry. - It's ok. At the next thunder, Alexia hid under the quilt again. This time she wasn't holding it so tight. I got under it and pulled her for a hug. For some reason, I want to make her feel safe. - Hey, it's ok. I'm here. - I'm scared. - Don't worry. I won't leave you alone. - Thank you. - If you want, you can stay here until the thunderstorm stops. - Thanks, but it might be the whole day. I can't stay here. - It's your decision. - Can I ask you something? - Sure. - Why sometimes are you nice to me, but sometimes you act like an assw***e? - It's complicated. - It looks easy for you to cut me off. - I don't want to get dumped. - Who said that I would do it? - Everyone does it. When you find someone better, you dump the other person. - I won't dump you. - I will believe you when you believe yourself. - How can I prove it to you? - You can't. No one can. - But I care about you. - This won't change anything. I'm sorry, but I don't trust you. - I'm sad to hear that because I trust you. - Why? - No reason. I just feel that you won't hurt me. - Don't be so sure. - I am. Otherwise, you could've gotten what you wanted and dumped me. You never did it. - I have time for that. - Just admit it. You won't hurt me. - I think that it's time for you to go home. - Here we go again. Can't you be nice for once? - I am trying. - I see. Whatever. I can go home, but you risk being alone. - So? It's not like I didn't want that. - Sometimes I can't understand you. - That's not my problem. - You realize that you hurt people, right? - I don't see a problem with that. - But I do. Why don't you want to be nice to me? What did I do to you? - If you go away, I might tell you. - Fine. Do whatever you want. - she said and left I know I am cruel to Alexia, but if I want to keep her safe, I should push her away. It's not a lie that sometimes I'm too nice to her. That is the type of person she needs as a friend, but I can't be him. At least she took all the things that she brought. Otherwise, I have to give them back to her at school. It's not like this is a problem. Alexia has to stay away from me, but I don't think she wants that. Let's hope soon she will realize what type of person I am. There is no way that I will let her get close to me. I am not the one for her. She has to understand it.
