Goddess Choosen: Toby and Rita

Red's Reunion

(Rita's P.O.V.)

Rita kept sneaking peaks at Toby while Sabrina talked excitedly about her new life with Gabriel. They had a lot to catch up on but Rita's thoughts we all focused on the man driving the truck. How long had it been? Felt like a lifetime ago. Every cell in her body screamed to run away but she would never leave her best friend, especially not on her wedding. Since he didn't seem to recognize her. she would continue to ignore him. This time was about Sabrina anyway. It's not like she was still harboring feelings from long ago. She sighed internally.

"I'm so excited you're here. I've been talking nonstop since you said you'd be my maid of honor. Gabriel is probably tired of hearing my voice.", Sabrina said as she squeezed Rita in a side hug.

"I'm looking forward to meeting him. I have to have the best friend speech with him you know.", Rita replied eager to met the man who had made her friend so happy she glowed.

"We have the dress fitting in a couple of hours. It'll give you time to get settled in. We are going with Peggie and Sasha. Then we'll go have lunch. I'm sorry we're jumping into to everything right when you get here. I can't wait for you to meet everyone.", Sabrina said giving Rita the run down on the day ahead.

"It's fine. I caught a nap on the plane. Besides, I'm looking forward to it all. I knew what I was signing up for when I said I would do this. You don't need to worry. Is your mom coming?", Rita asked. She knew Sabrina and Joan didn't have the best relationship but she had hoped her mother would be part of her wedding.

"No, she has work but she said if she got off early enough she'd meet us for lunch.", Sabrina said quietly.

"We're almost there.", Toby said. Rita noticed him sneaking glaces in the mirror at her. He had yet to say anything the whole drive. Maybe he had forgotten her after all this time. No, now was not the time for their ancient history. Rita shook her head. It was her friend's wedding. She would leave that for if or when it actually came up.

They turned down a long drive cover be trees on either side. Sabrina had told her she lived outside of town but hadn't told her much else. A stately house came into view.

"Girl, you've really come up in life.", Rita said as she stared at the house in awe.

"It's Gabriel's parents house. His entire family lives here. It's kinda a big family.", Sabrina said shyly as she looked at Toby.

She had two reasons to be in town. Her best friends wedding and witch business which she'd handle after the wedding. Her mother sent her on behalf of the council.

Toby pulled up in front of the house. Rita got out of the truck grabbing her bag out the bed. Toby went to take it from her but she held firm shaking her head. She didn't trust her voice.

Sabrina came around the truck excitedly talking about how much fun they were going to have as she hook her arm in Rita's. They walked up the steps into the house.

"I'm so happy you're here. This wouldn't be the same without you.", Sabrina admitted.

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Besides, you need the best friend's stamp of approval." Rita says jokingly.

"You're gonna love Gabriel." Sabrina says with heart shaped eyes.

"That's what you said about Lucas in school.", Rita rolls her eyes smiling at her love struck friend.

"Hehehe, Do you remember you helped me curse him after he got caught kissing Crystal Deangelo?" Sabrina giggles as she takes Rita up the stairs. Sabrina always knew Rita was a witch. It was one of the things she loved about Sabrina. She had always been super accepting of her no matter what.

"He deserved it." Rita laughed when she thought of how Lucas had got mono and had to spend the next two months at home.

"Or how about when you predicted Crystal and Lucas' break up?" Sabrina had been so down after Lucas, Rita wanted to do anything she could to help her friend.

"To be fair, a blind man could have guessed that one." Rita laughs.

Sabrina stops in front of a room on the second floor and opens the door. The room is filled with blues and beige. A picture window facing the front garden, and an attached bathroom. Rita set her bag on the bed and sits down.

"You have about an hour before we have to leave. I'll leave you to freshen up and unpack. I'm glad you're here Red.", Sabrina says a bit misty eyed.

"Me too.", Rita says hugging her. Sabrina pulls back and leaves the room. Rita let's out a sigh. An entire weekend with my bestie but why is he here?

They haven't seen each other in years. the last time they did see each other, it had ended up with her heart broken. He had a girlfriend already. he was just using Rita to pass the time.

As she began to unpack, she remembered then, when they hung out, shared kisses, and told each other about their hopes and dreams. She had been so much in love with him. Well, as much in love you can be at the tender age of 16. Rita remembered what it had been like to walk around with a constant ache in her chest.

He disappeared after the first semester. She hadn't seen him again til now. He didn't even remember her. Figures. New plan, ignore Toby and focus on Sabrina. As soon as her and Gabriel are off on their honeymoon, she would finish her business and leave.
