Alex stared at Amelia and Kevin, trying to understand why they were both gloating. Why they were both staring at him as if they were waiting for something momentous to happen. Then he remembered Jess’s warning, about the dual poisons they’d used on her to prevent her reaching her powers and his face paled. A look of confusion crossed Amelia’s face and she seemed to stumble. Throwing up a shield Alex dismissed the pair for now and turned his attention inward. He traced that which was not a part of him as it raced through his system. His current exertions weren’t helping to keep the two poisons apart.
