Olivia Ivanov's POV

Backstab

I tried not to ditch my best friend back from when I used to be poor and homeless. Her name was Sofia and we literally grew together. She was an orphan like me but she had different aunts and uncles whom she could meet for help.

I knew I couldn't leave her still stranded when I was at a comfortable spot and with my influence, I brought her to the Alpha's mansion which had turned into my new home.

I was so excited to see Sofia and she was excited as well.

Seeing her again made me consider speaking about our physical appearances.

I was fairly tall, quite slim, curvy, and very beautiful. As for Sofia, she was quite chubby, average in height, and quite pretty.

“I am so jealous of you…” Sofia told me. “You are leaving the soft life, girl!”

I didn't mind this but thinking about it now, I should have. Meanwhile, our discussion continued and when Alpha Lucas came into the living room, I could see his shocking expression on seeing Sofia.

“Who is the fellow in my living room?!” Alpha Lucas shouted lividly. His eyes were bloodshot and I had to kneel to appease him.

I crawled down to his feet and held him.

“Forgive me, my Lord…” I cried. “Her name is Sofia and she used to be my best friend back then. I just thought she could come visit. Forgive me for forgetting how sacred this place is!”

Alpha Lucas nodded his head several times and gazed at Sofia. She had also knelt down and I could tell she was shaking inwardly. I knew she would be fine but first, Alpha Lucas needed to be appeased.

“It is okay,” Alpha Lucas told me sharply. “However, do not try this in my absence next time. I am the Alpha and here is my territory. You could have brought in an assassin who would have killed people or taken people hostage.”

“I am sorry, my Lord. I would definitely not try this again in your mansion!” I apologized. I still held his feet as I tried to get him to stay calm.

“It's okay, and one more thing…” Alpha Lucas continued to tell me. “Apart from Sofia whom I have known today, I must not see another friend of yours in this mansion!”

“I understand!” I said. I thought about this carefully and got excited about a realization. “Do you mean that Sofia can visit here anytime from now?”

“Definitely!” Alpha Lucas replied with a smile on his face. “She is a beautiful lady and you know, beautiful people deserve the best!”

I had begun to think of all the things I was going to do together with Sofia. It would be really interesting to have my best friend with me.

Things turned out very interesting. It turned out even more interesting than I had planned.

Tragically.

It all started when Sofia began to visit me with full force. At first, she would come over every three days since I wasn't permitted to go and see her outside the mansion.

But later, she made it a daily thing. She would come at noon and leave the mansion late in the evening. Sometimes, she would spend the night at the mansion.

The most funny coincidence was that anytime Sofia slept over at the mansion, Alpha Lucas would also have things to do in his library and he would spend the night there working for the betterment of the Pack.

This coincidence continued to happen and at some point, I began to feel disturbed.

“Perhaps, you shouldn't spend the night at the mansion today,” I told Sofia when she came over.

“Why?” Sofia asked slowly. “I came prepared. I have clothes which I would wear tomorrow. Infact, I am thinking of spending a vacation after this. This mansion is very big and you can't live in it alone!”

I was uncomfortable about what she said and I confronted her.

“Everytime you sleep over, Alpha Lucas always has something to do in his library overnight and I don't like this. It's really disturbing since he always used to sleep over…” I explained to her slowly.

I could see Sofia's facial expression change immediately after I finished saying this. She seemed quite shocked and this was so suspicious.

“What do you mean?” Sofia finally asked after a long pause. “Is there anything in particular which you are trying to insinuate?”

I also kept quiet for a moment. I had to ponder about this. There was more to this issue and I was definitely skipping the most important part of this.

“Is something going on between you and Alpha Lucas?” I asked her slowly.

I could see her face begin to go pale. This is exactly what happens when she gets nervous.

“No, what do you mean?” Sofia asked. I could see her hand shaking in fear.

“I know about your relationship!” I told her sharply.

“Ugh, no…” Sofia began to confess. “It's not what you think at all, Olivia. I can explain!”

“I know what it is!” I exclaimed. I stood up and faced Sofia. “Both of you must have been reading together at the library!”

“Ohhhh!” Sofia said relaxedly as she heard me say this.

“Yeah!” I returned swiftly. “Or is there more to this than a reading club?”

“Of course, nah!” Sofia replied. She tried to laugh about this and I could tell that she was now relaxed with me.

“Good!” I told her. “But you won't be sleeping in this mansion today. I need Alpha Lucas to myself.”

“Make another wish…” Sofia smiled at me. “I am here to stay!”

I tried to catch up with Sofia and she took to her heels. We were running around the room playfully.

This was true friendship.

As expected, Alpha Lucas didn't sleep in his room that night since Sofia was sleeping over. He had things to do at his library and I respected his decision and went to bed like a good girl.

But minutes after he left the room, I rose up from the bed with the intent to go hunting.

I knew that something was going on with Sofia and Alpha Lucas and I was only pretending to be a fool so I could catch them red-handed.

Slowly, I moved to the library to see Alpha Lucas but the library was locked. It was with my heart pounding that I went to Sofia's room.

I didn't need to enter the room before I knew what was going on.

I could hear loud and sensual moans coming from the room.

Sofia and Alpha Lucas were having s*x.

Slowly, I moved away. After I did this successfully, I burst into tears. This was betrayal of the highest order and I couldn't bear it.

It only got worse after this.

In the next few days, I kept this discovery to myself but Sofia seemed to understand why I wasn't speaking to her.

They also went wild.

On a certain sunny day, I entered my room only to find Alpha Lucas and Sofia cuddling after a hot round of lovemaking.

Sofia saw me but she pretended. She continued to kiss Alpha Lucas even after seeing me.

But the height of it all happened at the public hall.

“I reject you, Olivia, as my mate!” Alpha Lucas shouted. “You are not worthy!”

I knew Sofia was the one behind this. She moved closer to me.

“Don't feel too bad, baby girl,” Sofia whispered. “Alpha Lucas is for every lady and you have taken enough share. I am in control now!”

I couldn't believe I made someone like Sofia a friend of mine in the first place.

I clenched my fists. I was about to hit Sofia. I wanted to give her a bleeding nose.
