Chapter 1 You Were the One Who Begged Me
"808." Today marked the engagement party of Nancy, the eldest daughter of the Tudor family, and Stephen, the head of the Wilde family, two prominent figures in Riverfront. While mingling with guests in the crowded banquet hall, Summer suddenly received a peculiar message on her phone. Expressionless, Summer dropped her phone back into her bag without a word. Moments later, claiming she had a stomachache, she slipped through the emergency exit to the room specified in the message. The moment she stepped inside, he pushed her against the door. The man, tall and commanding, had chiseled features and a rugged allure that radiated raw, unrestrained charisma. When he narrowed his eyes to look at someone, it was extremely intimidating. He pressed his lips against hers in playful punishment, a laugh evident in his voice. "Darling, must I send a formal invitation to lure you here?" he teased, his tone dripping with amusement. "It’s been a month; let me see if you've behaved yourself in my absence." The crisp scent of cedar invaded her senses, leaving her breathless. Summer squirmed in his grip, her breath coming in short gasps. "Uncle, your fiancée Nancy is downstairs," she gasped, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "If you’re feeling indulgent, shouldn’t it be with her?" "What, are you jealous? Then let me make it up to you." After years of intimacy, Stephen knew Summer's body with unsettling familiarity. His fingertips expertly sought out her sensitive spots, leaving her legs trembling and weak. His touch was intoxicating, and Summer trembled as his heated hands roamed across her skin, each caress drawing soft, desperate sounds from her lips. He passionately kissed Summer's body, his movements relentless, the ambiguous atmosphere in the room growing more intense as their body temperatures rose. 'I hate myself for being so weak,' Summer thought. Yet finding herself unable to resist, she surrendered to the moment with resigned pleasure. However, as Stephen neared his c****x, Summer instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice sounding nonchalant but layered with a hint of probing intent. "Uncle, I forgot to tell you—I haven’t had my contraceptive shot recently. What if your little swimmers decide to settle down and grow?" Stephen's eyes narrowed slightly as he sneered with feigned indifference. "Don't be ridiculous," he scoffed. "That's not going to happen with me." "Or are you saying you want everyone to know that Summer Wilde, the adopted daughter of the Wilde family, has been sharing a bed with her uncle Stephen Wilde?" A familiar bitterness washed over Summer as an old ache gnawed at her heart. 'Four years, and to Stephen, I’m still just a plaything,' she thought bitterly. When Stephen was six, he lost both parents in a shipwreck. Edward, his grandfather, lavished the orphaned boy with excessive affection after the tragedy. When Stephen was thirteen, he suddenly disappeared and remained missing for ten years. He used ruthless tactics to crush anyone who challenged his authority, rising to become a feared business tycoon in Riverfront. He had grown ruthless and cold-blooded, his heart wholly consumed by power and ambition. 'How pathetic of me to still dream of mattering to him,' she mocked herself. Summer tried to push Stephen away, but he gripped her slender waist firmly, his calloused fingers grazing her soft skin, captivated and unwilling to let go. Her very presence ignited an unrelenting hunger within him. Summer took a deep breath, her smooth arm curling around Stephen's neck. "Uncle, thank you for everything you've done for me," she murmured, her voice laced with weariness. "I've given you four years of my body. Now that you're marrying Miss Tudor, can we call it off?" The heat in Stephen's face turned into a scowl of obvious displeasure. His large hand seized her chin as his sharp eyes scrutinized her with dangerous intensity. "You're getting bold, daring to make such a demand? Don't forget, it was you who begged me like a dog to take you. Until I decide I'm done with you, you'd better behave and keep your silly thoughts in check." Stephen roughly flipped Summer over, his movements filled with a deliberate cruelty, pressing his hardened body against hers with unyielding force. At this moment, a sudden knock came from outside. It was Stephen's assistant, Ethan Cavendish. "Sir, Miss Tudor is here looking for you," Ethan called softly through the door. "Get rid of her!" Stephen bellowed, his voice reverberating through the door. Ethan flinched at his boss's unexpected outburst, bewildered by his hostility toward Nancy. Ethan quickly walked over, blocking Nancy, with a smile plastered on his face. "Miss Tudor, may I assist you with anything?" Nancy stood elegantly in her pristine white gown, her gentle smile and graceful bearing befitting a bride-to-be. "The ceremony is about to begin," Nancy said. "I need to see Stephen." As she spoke, she tried to push past Ethan to open the door. Ethan stepped smoothly into her path and explained calmly, "Stephen has just returned from Europe and is catching up on rest." "Mr. Wilde dislikes being disturbed while resting. I've set an alarm to ensure he's punctual for the engagement party." "Well... alright then. I'll leave it to you." Nancy maintained her perfect composure as she gracefully turned away, every movement a testament to her upbringing. Just then, unable to endure Stephen's roughness, Summer let out a soft, alluring cry that seemed to echo in the air. Nancy's expression shifted abruptly. As an adult, Nancy naturally understood what this meant. 'Some shameless woman dares to be with my fiancé on our engagement day,' she fumed inwardly. Though her nails dug into her palms in suppressed rage and anxiety, Nancy maintained her composure and chose to ignore what she had heard. Stephen was a man who valued his freedom and hated being controlled. Nancy's perfectly manicured nails loosened as she resolved to handle this matter away from prying eyes. In the room, Stephen, now satisfied, gently tucked a strand of Summer's hair behind her ear, his actions tender but his voice chillingly cold. "Understand this: A bed slave must stay in her place. Don’t even think about independence. Any feather you grow without my consent, I’ll pluck it out myself." Stephen lightly patted Summer's cheek, adjusted his clothes, and walked away with cold indifference as if nothing had happened. On trembling legs, Summer stumbled into the bathroom, resolved to scrub away every trace Stephen had left on her body. Four years ago, when Summer had just graduated from university, her adoptive father's small company was on the brink of bankruptcy due to a partner embezzling all the funds. Overwhelmed by this sudden turn of events, her adoptive father suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was rushed to the intensive care unit. Having married into the Wilde family, her adoptive father held no status in their eyes; his fate meant nothing to them. But to Summer, her adoptive father was her lifesaver. Desperate to save her adoptive father from crippling debt, Summer went door to door, her dignity eroding with each rejection. In the end, with no alternatives left, she turned to Stephen in desperation. Summer would never forget that moment—Stephen's fingers gripping her chin, his smile holding dark intentions she couldn't begin to understand. "Summer, have I ever taught you that to negotiate, you must offer your most valuable asset?" That night, with no other option, Summer climbed into the bed of her so-called uncle, becoming Stephen's secret mistress. 'I may have compromised myself,' Summer thought bitterly, 'but I refuse to destroy another woman's marriage. That's a line I will not cross.' After washing up, Summer dressed and applied a heavy layer of lipstick, barely masking the redness at the corners of her mouth. By the time she returned to the hall, the engagement ceremony had already begun. The same hands that had roughly claimed her body moments ago now moved with calculated gentleness as Stephen, immaculate in his tailored suit, fastened a ruby necklace around Nancy's throat. The brilliance of the necklace pierced Summer's heart and burned her eyes with its radiant glow.
