Destiny's POV
I closed my eyes, but I could still see it. No matter what I did, I was cursed with replaying the vile scene I'd just witnessed a little over an hour ago. I'd just watched someone die, and in cold blood too. The more I thought about it, the less sense it made, coupled with the fear it sent straight to my heart.
Even after the deed had been done and Kaius had stalked out of the the crime scene, I couldn't bring myself to move. It was next to impossible to try to avert my gaze from the dead man, and the guards couldn't move the body either. Kaius had ordered that the body remained in the compound for six hours. Apparently, it was to serve as a lesson for the others, in case they tried something fishy or even had the littlest idea of treachery in their hearts.
