Kaius’ POV
My mind whirled with a million and one thoughts as the world around me blurred. My ears buzzed and Carter's last words rang painfully in my ears.
“Your son.” Carter's voice echoed all around me. “Adrian is in trouble. He's unconscious.”
What? That didn't make any sense at all. What did Carter mean by Adrian being unconscious? Was this some kind of joke or a sick prank, from either Carter or anyone involved.
Adrian was a cheeky little boy, everyone knew that, and even I wasn't surprised. If there was anything he had gotten from me, it was his cheekiness. I was a mischievous little lad growing up, so it was only normal that he got that same trait. Not only was he mischievous, he was a prankster, and even as a little boy he was an expert at it.
