The sound of shuffling in the hallway was more than enough to stir me awake. Actually, I'd been awake for a while. Honestly, if you asked me, I wasn't sure I was even asleep in the first place. It'd been occurring for a while now, three days to be precise. I'd been unable to fall asleep for three days straight, and not a single soul in the house knew about it.
