Kaius’s POV I drummed my fingers on top of my desk, the lazy tunes floating into my ears. They weren't exactly catchy. No, scratch that. They were horrible, but was I going to come up with something else? Not a chance. I had other things to worry about. More pressing things than the rhythm the tip of my fingers were currently conjuring. It'd been while since I asked Carter to look into the matter and yet I hadn't gotten any feedback from here. Was it that hard to find out the whereabouts of a certain woman? She was in a mask, sir. Carter's words from the other day replayed in my mind. They all were. He was right, but that wasn't supposed to be an excuse for him to slack on his job. He was my Beta for a reason and it was in moments like this I expected him to really prove his worth.
