"From the way you speak about him, I can tell you are happy. I'm glad you have someone who can bring a smile to your face. If you are happy, then I'm happy. That's all I've ever wanted," he replied with a smile.
"Thank you," I muttered. I felt at peace with myself. It felt as if a huge burden had been lifted off my shoulders. I glanced at my watch and it was starting to get late.
"But who have you been staying with?" he asked curiously.
"The night I left, I got into an accident..."
"What!" he exclaimed in shock, cutting me off.
"But I'm fine now. A kind couple saved me. I've been living with them ever since and they've been so nice to me," I explained.
