Chapter Thirteen

910 Words
"Go to hell!" The burly man roared, the sharp tip of the knife in his hand emitting a cold gleam. He aimed to strike accurately, to kill the dreaded assassin. The blade was mere inches away from David's back, but with a sudden turn, David met the attacker with an icy gaze and sharp eyes, miraculously dodging the strike. David had no intention to retaliate, as he saw Olivia appear. Olivia swung the baseball bat in her hand, smashing it fiercely on the back of the burly man's head! For those who saw Olivia for the first time, it would be hard to imagine that this cute and innocent-looking Olivia, almost like the leading lady in a campus drama, could be so violent. The burly man had no reaction, falling silent and stiff on the ground. Olivia didn't stop there; instead, she spread her legs apart, as if inviting the burly man to observe the hem of her skirt, then raised the baseball bat high and struck down fiercely! The sound of the blunt weapon breaking through flesh rang out, followed by the burst of a watermelon, as the burly man's head exploded like a watermelon dropped from the tenth floor, splattering brain tissue and blood everywhere. Olivia wiped the blood from the corner of her eye, even sticking out her tongue to greedily lick the blood at the corner of her mouth, before saying, "Mr. David, you taught me well. Any distraction during a mission can cost us our lives. What are you doing? Having a personal call?" David glanced at her, his voice cold, "I also taught you to keep a low profile! You've left too many traces." With that, David crouched down, swiftly slitting the throat and stabbing the heart of another wailing victim, his actions seamless. He then dodged away, not a drop of blood staining him. Below David's company building, Emily listened to a series of sounds coming from her phone, hesitating nervously for a while before asking, "David, what was that sound just now? Who is the woman with you?" "I told you I'm working. The sound just now was from a violent movie a client's child was watching. Alright, I'm busy, I won't talk to you anymore." Before Emily could respond, the call was hung up, leaving Emily feeling a bit lost, her mind wandering again. But not long after, someone hurriedly ran towards her from the parking lot, panting heavily, a sharp contrast to his expensive suit. Emily couldn't believe that the man rushing towards her was her husband, the calm and always cold David. At that moment, Emily's heart was melting with love. It turned out that David cared so much about her. He must have been outside, otherwise he wouldn't have rushed back from the parking lot. It was all her own overthinking. At the same time, a deeper sense of guilt surged in Emily's heart. Why did she cheat? Her husband, so handsome, successful, and young, who wouldn't envy Emily's life? But she had willingly fallen, making this relationship impure, no longer as clean as a blank sheet of paper. The loyalty between them shattered by Emily, all because of her husband David's seemingly cold personality, it was simply a joke. "I love you," tears welled up in Emily's eyes. "Is that all you can say?" David was somewhat helpless, but Emily suddenly pounced, "Yes, that's it, that's it, I love you, David, I love you! Can you always treat me like this in the future, I love you." Emily threw herself into David's arms, her sexy yet not flabby thighs wrapped around David's waist, locking tightly. David could only support Emily's body weight with his arms, feeling flustered and anxious at that moment. Emily kissed him, her tongue so soft, stirring David's tongue to entwine with hers. Around them, people gasped, some even took out their phones to secretly take photos. This wasn't the medieval era, but modern and bustling Liberty City, where on Cola Roosevelt Avenue and 42nd Street, there were open streetwalkers. If you stopped your car, they would flirt shamelessly, even openly simulating the actions after a deal was made. But all actions had their time and place, just like sunbathing naked on the beach, which was obviously inappropriate on a park lawn. Those who dared to do so would have been arrested by the police long ago. Similarly, in the towering office buildings, the voluptuous beauty like Kailin and the handsome guy like David passionately kissing in public were equally rare. At that moment, besides his tongue, everything about David was stiff. He didn't know what love was, what family was; he had always thought he just needed to play a role, to be a husband. David could shoot a gun on the street, could kill invisibly, could secretly infiltrate heavily guarded bases, and could even disguise himself to escape the tracking of a dragnet. But... he didn't know how to love, and he was unwilling to be in the spotlight, or rather, he had a strong aversion to being in the limelight. It was a professional habit of an assassin, as well as a strong sense of shame from the never-before-experienced emotional leakage, making his face flush and swell. Not far away in the parking lot, Olivia got out of the car and walked towards Emily and them, muttering fiercely, "Is this Mr. David's wife? Hmph, such an ugly and fat old woman!"
