2: The Tale of Four Jewels

~ Twenty Six Years Later ~ Montrell I awaken early with the omega dad sent last night having her arm around me. I can’t remember what her name was and I never bother to remember any names because dad sends a different one every night. He’s so afraid that I’ll be like Trevor. I never have s**x with the women. I just give them a good night’s rest in a nice and cozy bed. I wake her and tell her she should return to her floor and I rush downstairs to spend time with aunt Amber. The sun hasn’t even started to rise yet. My father and Beta Sterling try to ensure that aunt Amber is treated like shxt and I am the only one that keeps the other omegas and higher ups from abusing her. I may never be Alpha according to my father but the wolves in this pack know I am the Alpha’s son and I am not to be fvcked with. “Aunt Amber, good morning,” I say as I walk into the kitchen. I give her a kiss on the cheek. It’s just her and another omega named Talia helping her prepare breakfast for the Alpha and Beta’s families. “Hey, Trell. It’s always good to see your face,” she smiles back at me. “How are you feeling?” “I’m okay. Talia dear,” she says to her fellow omega, “do you mind grabbing some milk from the fridge? Alpha Darius likes milk whipped into his eggs.” “You cater to him more than Luna Tiffany does,” I scoff. “When I was spared, he told me that my life depended on how well of a slave I was. I haven’t disappointed him yet and I surely don’t plan to.” “Ah auntie, come here,” I say. “Trell, you know I have to get breakfast done.” “Amber, it’s fine. You love spending time with your nephew as does he with you. I’ve got breakfast covered,” Talia says. She looks at Talia who nods her head at her. Talia is the only friend that looks out for Amber and I’m grateful that she has her. Aunt Amber dries her hands and sits beside me at the kitchen island. She grabs my hand and smiles at me. “How about you tell me the tale of the four jewels,” I suggest. “How many times have I told you my story? Aren’t you sick of it?” “It’s the only way I hear about my mother. Please tell me once again,” I beg. “Alright. There were once four sisters including myself: Jade, Ruby, Crystal, and Amber. All four were the daughters of Kyle and Sapphire Hart. The oldest two were Jade and Ruby and Crystal and I were the younger two. Jade and Crystal inherited our mother’s bright blue eyes, long black hair, and dark skin. They were absolutely beautiful. Ruby and I inherited our father’s brown eyes and we were closer to his complexion. Out of the four, Crystal and Jade were the most sought after. You’ve seen a picture of your mother, right?” “Yes and indeed she was very beautiful. Dad gave me a picture of them when they first accepted each other as mates.” “Jade was beautiful like that too. Ruby had freckles and she kept her hair cut short. I on the other hand wasn’t so popular. I was the lightest and had the curliest hair when I didn’t straighten it. I was bullied but Ruby and Crystal always defended me.” “You are very beautiful. You lived in the shadow of your sisters but you shouldn’t doubt yourself,” I say to her. “Like I’ve told you plenty of times, I’ve always been the black sheep. Anyways, mama and daddy had Jade very young. She was eight years older than Ruby. By the time I was born, she was already mated. Her mate was the Alpha of the Glacier Run pack. She became his Luna and we were all so proud of her. Sadly, she was killed by the vampire king eight years later. She challenged him but she didn’t realize how powerful he was. Mama and daddy along with the Glacier Run pack got revenge several years later. The vampire king was killed but mama and daddy were killed too. Ruby was 18, Crystal was 14 and I was 12. As the oldest, Ruby became our mom and very overprotective of Crystal and I.” “It’s must’ve been hard losing your sister and parents like that,” I say as she gets teary eyed. “Jade was something else. After becoming the Luna, she would visit us from time to time. I do know that she was the strongest. Ruby was the second strongest but the meanest. Ruby was always fighting. Given that we lost our parents and Jade, the council at Glacier Run thought it was best that Ruby, Crystal and I stay with them. We had a good life as Deltas at Glacier Run for about ten years. Ruby found her mate but when your mother met your father at a conference and decided to be with him, Ruby rejected him because after losing Jade and our parents we vowed to always stick together.” “Then mama got pregnant with me and you all went rogue because she realized how horrible my father is,” I sigh. “In the end, that hot headed and outspoken personality of my sisters got them all killed,” she sniffles. “Honestly, Jade and Ruby took after our mother. Our mother Sapphire was the Blue Demon from the Roosevelt Lake pack. She had eyes to mesmerize but a temper that was like hell on earth. I’ve always wondered how dad was able to tame her. He was so quiet. I think I took after our dad. He was more calm and pragmatic. I have to say, Crystal wasn’t as bad as Jade and Ruby. We were closer and more alike in terms of keeping our emotions in check but she did have a fiery temper and when she got mad, she didn’t bite her tongue. She didn’t back down from your father. She stood her ground against him and called him out and he killed her.” She never really talked about her mother and father like this before. She only mentioned their names. This is all new information for me. Goddess knows, I would’ve loved to have met my family. “I would have loved to meet them all,” I say. “From what you’ve told me about my mother, dad surely didn’t deserve her.” “He didn’t. You have Crystal’s fiery spirit in you. Despite having Darius raise you, you turned out to be the complete opposite of that abusive, massive jerk. Crystal would be so proud of you,” she says as she extends her hand. “I wish she was still here.” “She is. Her spirit lives in you. You have so much of her in you. You have her blue eyes and her personality. Sometimes I feel like I’m chatting with her when we talk.” Aunt Amber lets out a soft chuckle. She rolls up her sleeve a little to prepare to go back to cooking. I grab her hand to stop her because I see her arm has a fresh burn on it. “Who did this,” I ask as I pull back her sleeve. “Trell, it’s nothing. I forgot to do something for Lady Okwi and she hit my arm with a hot curling iron.” “She did what?!” Why did we have to be born into this shitty ass pack, Zayn growls in my head. This pack needs a good purge. The high council, alpha and beta are nothing but abusive assholes. “I wish I was Alpha so I can free you from this life of slavery and abuse,” I say to her. “At least if you had a mate, you would’ve avoided all this nonsense.” Aunt Amber is the sweetest person I know and she doesn’t deserve to continue to live like this. The Beta’s family is the main source of her suffering. Well, Zachary and I share a like mind. He constantly challenges his father and I know he won’t hurt aunt Amber. Aiyana on the other hand is a spoiled little bxtch and she follows in her mother’s footsteps. Lady Okwi is always so cruel to aunt Amber. It’s almost like she hates her. “Really, it’s fine,” she stammers. “I did have a mate but if I accepted him, my life would’ve still been hell.” “Who was it? Was he another omega?” “No, he was high rank but now none of that matters. Don’t worry about me, Trell. You just worry about convincing your father to let you succeed him as Alpha.” “Pfft, I don’t know how well that will go,” I say. “‘You would be Alpha if your mother didn’t go rogue and became my Luna instead’ blah blah blah.” Aunt Amber laughs at me as I mock my father. Her laugh and smile quickly fades as we both hear a booming voice coming from the dining room.
