Chapter 1
I'm not really good at this whole introduction thing, so I guess I won't include one. Let's just call it a "things I think you should know about me before you continue reading". First things first, I'm gay. I was closeted for about five years after I realized how freaking cute guys are. I came out my freshman year of high school, which was about 4 years ago. I told a friend, then other friends, then my sisters, then my parents, and soon enough everyone knew except a few possibly homophobic relatives. My grandmother on my father's side is extremely conservative and religious. Every time someone brings up the word "gay" or any word that falls into the category of "not straight", she feels the need to mention the fact that it is an "abominable sin". One day, I'll have had enough, and will respond with, "b***h, spell abominable!" Yes, it may give her another reason to hate me besides the fact that I'm gay, but at that point, it won't matter.
Secondly, I've never experienced any type of intimate/s****l interaction with another person. If any straight person wants to ask "if you've never done it, then how do you know you're gay?", just be sure you're prepared for a very intense eyeroll, followed by the words, "same way you knew you were straight". Third, I'm not very good at initiating conversations, much less maintaining one, but I've gotten better at it. I've found it to be especially difficult to transform thoughts into complete sentences when speaking with attractive men. That skill is also getting better, but the progress is far more glacial.
The list is getting a little long, so I'll tell a couple more things about myself, and if you keep reading, you'll find out the rest later. I'll be a college freshman at University of Dallas in a few days, so I'm super excited about that. I've never really had any luck with guys, and I've heard college changes that somehow, so I'm hopeful. Move-in day is literally in 8 hours, 35 minutes, and 12, 11, 10... It's so soon! Sleeping would probably be a wise thing to do, but I can never sleep the night before an exciting event. Oh! By the way, my name is Milo. I guess that's important too.
Well, I gotta be up in two hours for the super long drive to Dallas. I'm staying with my cousin during the time between orientation and move-in day. My mother and I always stay with her when we're in her area. Far cheaper than having to stay in a hotel. I have only an hour and thirty minutes to sleep now, so I should probably do that.
