In the bustling metropolis of New York City, tech mogul Alexander Stone faces a crisis when his company becomes the target of media scrutiny due to a scandal involving his secretary, Siri, after a one-night stand. Seeking to salvage his reputation and business interests, Alexander proposes a contract marriage to his naive secretary, knowing he cannot commit to her. Instead, he turns to a distant friend, Maya, for help, offering her financial benefits in exchange for marrying him.

Maya, trapped in an abusive relationship with her lazy and unfaithful boyfriend, Dickson, reluctantly agrees to the contract marriage to escape his control. Despite initial stability, Dickson's persistent threats and interference challenge the newfound union. As Alexander struggles to maintain his marriage and business amidst mounting pressures, Siri's unexpected pregnancy claim further jeopardizes his credibility and financial stability.

Maya's decision to stand by Alexander through the pregnancy revelation hinges on her evolving feelings for him and her desire for a better life. Meanwhile, Alexander must navigate a precarious balancing act between protecting his marriage and safeguarding his company from further damage.

The unfolding drama tests the characters' resilience and forces them to confront their own vulnerabilities and desires. Whether Alexander can emerge unscathed, retaining both his wife and his business, or if he faces the painful prospect of losing one or both, remains uncertain amidst the tumultuous events in their lives.

ChapterONE
"Maya you look lost, are you okay" I looked up from where I was sitting and saw Anabelle, my childhood friend looking up at me with a worried expression. "I don't think I am " I shook my head. I've been facing a lot lately and Dickson hasn't been helping one bit. "Dickson doesn't make things easy for me. I have to pay all the bills myself while he goes out gambling all day" I sighed. "Then go away if he doesn't make things easy," Anabelle said nudging my arm. "If I leave where do you expect me to go I don't want to hurt him. He already did much for me by letting me stay with him" I said pitifully, and Anabelle chuckled rolling her eyes in the process. "A house where you pay the rent. Isn't that absurd? I guess love is blind as they say". Anabelle shook her head before getting up. "Break time is over, we have to head back to work" Anabelle dragged me up but just right away, the television showed a “breaking news” that caught my attention. ALEXANDER STONE IS SEEN COMING OUT OF A HOTEL WITH HIS SECRETARY. LOOKS LIKE THEY HAVE SOMETHING GOING ON THAT THEY ARE HIDING FROM THE PUBLIC. IT'S BEEN CONFIRMED. THEY HAD A ONE-NIGHT STAND. HOW COULD HE DO THIS WITH HIS SECRETARY? WHAT IMPRESSION DOES HE PERCEPT ON THE PUBLIC? There was so much news going on about him but that was the least of my problem. He had money to solve his issues. "Maya isn't he your friend," Anabelle asked and I nodded. "Yeah but it's been two years now so he wouldn't even know that I exist" I replied and she shrugged. "We have to hurry up before the boss lashes on us. I need my full pay today" I said to Anabelle and we quickly hurried up back to the bar. Alexander POV I have been attending meetings upon meetings. Answering different calls as my business was on the line. Siri is nowhere to be found after the news got out. How could I be careless to this extent to make the news get out? I guess she had a hand in all this cause this is what she had always wanted. She has something up her sleeves but I won't let this happen. My PA was already putting a call across to our investors and business partners who were asking for a refund on their shares. If care wasn't taken. The company might go bankrupt at any moment. My PA barged into the company panting hardly, only then I looked at what I was doing on my laptop, my brows furrowed. "Boss I think we have a problem," He said. Worried already, trying to catch his breath. I raised a brow and that gave him a signal to go on. "The press are outside the company building and they’re requesting you come out to address the issue publicly, He said and I rubbed my temple. I got myself in deep s**t and then I thought about it for a moment. There has to be a way out of this. After minutes of anxiety and conflict within myself, “pacing left and right the office like an athlete warming up”, an idea finally flew in my mind and then I said to Evans, my assistant, " Make the arrangement, uh I will be having a press conference this evening" His eyes widened like he didn't hear me right. "Sir... I don't think it's the right choice. This might cause more problems for us" He said. I chuckled. I knew that if I didn't make the right decision I might lose the company for real so I breathed in and out before giving him the same instructions again. "I trust you boss. If you think this is the right choice then I support you" His words gave me some kind of encouragement. He left the office while I went back to what I was doing on my laptop. ......... It was already evening and Evans came to inform me that he had already made the arrangements and it was left for me to come make my speech. I arranged my suit properly before leaving my office as I followed Evans to where the press conference was held. As we approached, I could see a multitude of reporters, they all had their cameras on standby ready to film whatever was going to take place. I hope I don't make the wrong choice. I went to the podium and Evans gave me a thumbs-up. I smiled. "Good evening everyone. I am glad you all allowed me to say this and I am here to address the ongoing news" I said and I noticed that all eyes were now piercing toward my direction. They were waiting for what I had to say so I cleared my throat before I continued, "The news going around about me having a one-night stand with my secretary is false" I stated and the murmurs began. I knew they all had something to say because the evidence they all had was so clear and I kept Siri under my breath. She had already known that I would have a hard time defending myself and maybe she's probably waiting for me to come to her for help but that'll be the last thing I'll do. A reporter raised his hands which meant that he had a question to ask and I consented for him to talk. "Sir Alexander. You just said that you never had a nightstand with your secretary but you were seen coming out of a hotel this morning and the same with your secretary so how come?" The reporter asked. Just the right question I had been waiting for so I smirked before replying, "If you could notice something in that picture it was blurry so you all just assumed that it was my secretary but it's not her but my wife," I said and the whole place resulted in chaos. ?. ?. ?**********
