Chapter thirty eight

1031 Words

~Will POV~ I know she must have cried herself empty. Nancy is fragile in ways she doesn’t even realize, and I know exactly how deeply my words cut her. Calling her a gold digger,God, I can’t even think about it without feeling sick. She’s from a humble background, yes, but she has never once asked me for anything. Not even a soda, let alone money. And yet those were the words I threw at her. Saturday evening, I sit in the living room staring at the messy space that used to be our sanctuary, thinking about the disaster my life has become. I keep running through every possible outcome in my head. In a few days, my plan should be complete. If everything works the way I expect, I’ll finally be free of Ritah’s blackmail, and I’ll get my Nancy back. At least, that’s what I tell myself.
