Chapter one. The deal.
He started as a normal, carnal man. At forty, he was merely a shadow of himself, fading, already forgotten. He had no plans to go on further but just sticking to his driving job until death. As a man from a poor background with different societal pressures and his family's status, his childhood was defined with different actions, most were illegal.
From several records of divorce to drug trafficking, caught and bailed out of jail twice, then, and only then, did he settle for a driving job. Well, it looked like it changed.
Driftwood Bay, a small seaside town with it's popularity for a lot of trees is a quiet, almost isolated area of Slovenia. no festivals, celebrations, or engaging activities that gives emotions. Anything fun, is done outside Driftwood bay. At night, the trees become chilly, "sometimes whispers ." one would say.
And that's where he was. all alone. he leaves early in the morning and returns late at night, most times using alcohol to get sleep when he's back. Morgan had given up on any hope or thinking, that life could somehow treat him like the others. he saw it all differently. Until that evening....
"Your destination, madamme? "
" Off routtell. I have to catch my train at the transit. "
"Enter."
Old 1984's music filled the bus. Morgan had love for that year. the hits, the feeling of not being pressured. what does it matter?
"Hey mister. Mind if you turn down that volume a bit? " An old woman spoke from the backseat. Morgan paid no attention to her. After all, he was almost reaching her route to stop. He didn't think he heard her mutter. He didn't mind. Then he casually looked at the rearview mirror, and screamed, swirling the bus, totally unaware of them being on a bridge that hasn't built walls yet. And they fell. Everything played in Morgan's head while they fell. the screeching of tires, the swirl, the smirking look of the the monster...the fall.
The bus hit the water. Morgan didn't feel it. it felt like he was levitating...and he was. The shock and fear made him struggle on air, screaming like a maniac. The people in the bus were drowning. The old woman who spoke minutes ago was already bloating. One man struggled to come out through the window, seems like it didn't work, so he went for the door. It didn't budge. Morgan watched in panic as the man pulled at the door much slower, then pulled no more. Morgan screamed.
Why didn't anyone come here???
is the bridge suddenly lonely??
...what's going on??
Before anything else, he found himself on the dry land of the bridge, one step away from the water. And there it was. the monster, the ugly-looking thing. The reason everyone in that bus just died.
Morgan didn't feel fear anymore, he felt anger.
" Who are you?! And what the hell do you want?! " He yelled, mustering his courage to go closer, but he couldn't move. the monster trapped him right at the spot. One step to the water. One step to death.
" Does it matter now, Morgan?" it said, watching Morgan's expression of surprise of hearing his own name from it's mouth, but it quickly replaced with anger. " I have a task for you. You can't deny it. "
" You can't make me do anything."
"I can."
"You can't." Morgan snarled.
Silence came in for a moment. Then the monster breathed: "Yes I can, Morgan." It looked towards the water.. the face of the bus still visible, with dead people floating, looking purple and pail. "You see those people...you killed them–"
"What the fu-??!" Morgan yelled in anger. The anger was almost transmitting to pain. He felt like he could burst right now if this 'thing' said one more word...
"Yes. you killed them," it said, with huge boredom.
Surprisingly, he didn't burst. but he was still angry.
"If not that you obeyed me when I appeared in your dream the first time, you wouldn't have lost so much. Everything right now is your fault. "
EVERYTHING IS YOUR FAULT.
The flashes of his uncle saying this when he was still a teen, to his mother when he accidentally burned down the house, to the police when he tried explaining came rushing in. He groaned.
Pain.
He had sworn to make them pay. they would. His life was a mess. and all they could do was blame. Blame him.
" You are not running this time, Morgan. Else more will die. Because of you..." Keeping Morgan hypnotized, it went closer and placed a black, ovoid seed in the front of Morgan's head. it dissolved, with a faint mark. Morgan felt it, although he wasn't fully conscious. "What are you..." He slurred. He faintly heard the monster's chuckle. Next, he didn't know if what he heard was from his head or from the monster.
I AM THE DEADLIEST OF ALL PACKS, MORGAN. NOW I'M YOU.
