Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
“Regulating.”
“Souls transformed.”
“Souls switched.”
“Rebirth sequence initiated.”
“Alteration in progress.”
“Identity synchronization... seventy-eight percent.”
The machines hummed louder.
Behind the glass walls, dozens of electronic screens flickered simultaneously, displaying unfamiliar patterns—some resembling brain waves, others resembling something far more complex. But it was what it was. And is. The GENESIS-X— A classified scientific facility where souls were synchronized, altered, switched, and reborn through advanced technology.
“Warning.”
A scientist immediately turned toward the central monitor. That was unusual. He hurriedly punched in commands on the Keyboard.
“Unstable soul frequency detected.”
The room fell silent.
“Locate the subject, ” He commanded.
A few seconds passed.
Then—
“Subject located.”
The scientist stared at the screen.
“Alpha Medil Triumphs.”
Another beep.
“His soul is locked.”
The scientist's expression changed.
“Locked?”
“Yes.”
“Can you override it?”
The machine remained silent for several seconds.
Then the screen flashed red.
SOUL ACCESS: DENIED.
The scientist's eyes stayed glued to the screen in shock and doubt, his hands frantically searching for the remote controls as he summoned the other members from their assigned stations around the console to Sector three. He spoke into the microphone, " I need you all right now. Sector three. Alpha Medil Triumph's soul's been locked. Gather all the test. We need to do a re-examination. "
"Alpha Medil Triumphs has been in our record for the past twelve years. He has switched, altered, and has been reborn. Again. I wonder how synchronisation would be hard for that guy's soul, " An older scientist who was there through the whole scene spoke. The other just scratched his nape in confusion. "Maybe his purpose for doing it isn't pure."
"Tsk. Thats not the case Belgium. We have transformed normal people into beasts and demons here—"
"Was it our making?" The older cut in. " All we do is switch the souls and send them to either the world they desire or what was presumed for them. "
"Someone must have seen this, " The younger stared at the screen that displayed Alpha's full body neural projection."Maybe someone from the past or future in that guy's life is trying to stop his next return. " He stared at the one now known as Belgium with a new sudden fascination. " Thats it!!! Imagine...who could do such? " Belgium nonchalantly sipped his coffee, deliberately making the slurping sounds louder. Breaking rules seemed like nothing to the old man. Sipping coffee in a lab?
"Nope. Who could think such? Matt, I still do believe in magic. In dark arts. I have seen it happen. I have been a victim of one strike in a war between a witch and a dragon.." Keeping the cup on the counter, he rolled his sleeves up, revealing a jarred, red old scar. If that scar was fresh it would have looked way deeper than it looks. The cut began from his elbow way up to the point only the sleeves can reveal. "Same old histories, same old stories, same old truths. But one I'm not sure of, is any of these creatures having the ability to stop what's in time...perfectly without consequences..."
Other scientists started rushing in.
"...no blemish. You know this is not an ordinary place. It was hidden by the founder, Revenom. He went in to his own inventions to find an extra covering and layer of protection for this lab. For everything to be preserved, and out of track. "
"But not out of sight. " Matt said.
“Not impossible,” Belgium smiled. "But who can perfectly tell the route to this lab? Except..." Belgium eyes widened. "Except if the person trying to stop him from coming here is one of our members?"
Matt gave him a look. Then proceeded to addressing the people. The room became dark now. Only the screen projecting holographic 3D objects in front of Matt gave light.
"Our subject is Alpha Medil Triumphs. Every diagram shown on each of these projectors proves his system is working fine. No clash with him before and after...all good. He can't sync with another body. It was instructed by Revenom that we sync him with different personalities and send him across the western side of the otherworld, today. And here's the result.." He showed off the red signal on the screen. " So...you all have your diagrams..take your seats here and share the neural projection and see if there's any glitch or mistake of a sort. " The lights came back on. The scientists moved to their different suites to begin. The lights came back.
" Belgium, we need to talk. " Matt said and began walking towards the exit.
"Oh boy. I am not your fellow. I am sixty five. Show some respect. " Belgium said, while still following him.
" Pardon me. Look at Morgan...He was instructed to unravel the mystery behind this Annoulha place.. "
"Annoulha? Oh. The Sedymon dude. "
" Yes. We don't know Revenom's next move...but Morgan was a tough one. His body couldn't fully submerge to what we placed for him. And I found something. While processing a werewolf's blood under sample for him, his own blood had the same remnants of werewolf's blood..when I haven't even started the transfusion. "
Belgium's eyes narrowed. "What?"
"Yeah. Shocked me too. And Boss doesn't know. "
" Have we ever prepared this guy before? "
"Nope. That guy's system didn't look carnal to me. He looked way deeper than human. "
Counting the days Revenom comes in just to see Morgan's doings...or Sedymon's, doings. It tried solving a puzzle. Sometimes, while monitoring him, the screen glitches, or turns black. Unusual for all the souls they have ever worked on.
"Crazy. We got Alpha to work on now." Belgium finished .
"Right. "Matt said and they both walked back into the lab.
Little did they know they were spotted walking back into the console. The person took pictures, but when he looked at his shot, it was pitch black. He frantically pressed the ear pod on his ear.
"Sir..."
"Did you take pictures of them?" Someone asked on the other end of the line.
"I did. But it turned out to be pitch black."
"Perfect. Bring them in. "
The guy's face showed confusion. He wondered if the Boss heard him. Scrambling out of the bushes, he pressed a button in a device to deactivate the protection wave around Genesis-X, then when the bluish, yet glassy wave dissolved, he pressed another button then disappeared.
-Somewhere around the console-
"Boss. Should we go after him?"
Revenom glanced across the screen. "The device that boy used for teleportation is one in its kind. And it could only be given to him by no one else than that peacock."
The guard looked at him, knowing the peacock was none other than Revenom's own brother who is against him.
"Don't pursue him. Let him be. I'll know his plans after. " He stood up and next, vanished into thin air like he was never even there before. The guard screamed and fell down. He didnt seem to get used to Revenom's way of disappearing.
