CHAPTER 8

*Alpha Benson POV* As I entered my office on the fifth floor of the magnificent establishment, my secretary, Mrs. Justina Brooks, came in. She was a middle-aged woman who had worked for my father, and now she had to work for me. Irrespective of the fact that she was older than I was, she was very professional with her job, and I didn't want to dismiss her yet. "Welcome, Alpha Benson. You have about five Alphas to meet with today," Justina told me about my work schedule and the Alphas I had meetings with. "That's fine. Let them in. But who am I seeing first?" I asked her. She looked at her folder and replied, "The Alpha of the Bright Moon Pack." "Alright. Just let him in and let's get straight to business," I told Mrs. Justina. She wore a black skirt and white shirt, with black shoes. She bowed and left my office, replying, "Okay, Alpha." After Justina left, I looked around my vast office. It was painted white and had a long desk, my office chair, and two guest chairs across from me. I turned on my computer and waited for it to boot. I opened my briefcase and went through the files and new partnership projects that I had drafted over the weekend. I had the mindset to implement new rules to set my pack standard high and different from other packs. A few minutes later, my office line rang. Justina informed me, "Alpha Benson, should I let them in?" "Yes. Hurry up. I still have other work to do," I told her, and the phone call ended. I looked at Ace and his father as they entered my office. Ever since Ace heard that his rejected mate, Mallory, was dead, he looked downcast and lost. Like he wasn't here for business. A part of me was worried about him. But why should I care? I quickly kicked off that negative feeling and gestured for the father and son to take their seats in my office. "So, Alpha Benson. We are here for the new plantation business and other business within your pack," Beta Andrew said, and I nodded. "I am aware. But my cost of business has gone up. I would like you to look at the new contract terms and conditions," I said, handing over a file containing the new conditions I had drafted to Beta Andrew. Beta Andrew accepted it and looked at it. His face darkened. "Why will you change the contract dealings, Alpha Benson? This looks selfish, and you know it," Beta Andrew glared at me as he threw the file on my desk. Ace picked it up and read it. He looked at the newly written agreement and contract terms. His brown eyes narrowed at me too. "This is theft!" Ace barked, and I smirked. "My farmers are working hard to meet my pack's supplies. You don't expect us to distribute all our food to other packs and help them while my pack members die of hunger. It's simple logistics. If you don't like my pack's contract, then you can cut off the partnership deal with us. We still have other packs that will agree to it. We produce some of the best and richest food crops ever. Even the humans want to partner with my agricultural company," I smirked, seeing the angry glares from Beta Andrew and his son. "This is wrong, Alpha Benson. You just took over from your father and you think you can mess with our pack's partnership with yours? You are calling for war!" Beta Andrew snapped at me, and I laughed. "Bring it on. It's either your pack accepts a 70-30% share of my company supporting yours, or you get the fertilizers and start up more farming companies in your pack," I told him. He looked at me angrily, snatched the file from my desk, and left my office. "We will be back, Alpha Benson. Get ready for war!" Beta Andrew stated and left with his son. Ace looked at me thoughtfully and left too. I smirked and continued with my work on my laptop. Mainly, my pack had been the one shouldering many packs and supplying them food. They cannot claim to be a strong pack when they rely on us for food and other supplies. Either they cooperate with my new terms, or they can go back to their animalistic ways. I didn't care. But my pack needed a lot of rebuilding, which required more funds and investment. Mrs. Justina contacted me to see the next Alpha, the Alpha of the Dark Moon Pack. He was a ruthless leader, and he came into my office with his Beta. I showed him the file, and he looked at it. "Benson, why this increase? Don't you think a 60-40 share is enough?" Alpha Ryan asked, and I shook my head. "No. That's the new decision, and it's for the benefit of all. Not only my pack. It's not a must to accept. You can choose to partner elsewhere," I told Alpha Ryan. Unlike Beta Andrew and his son, Alpha Ryan of the Dark Moon Pack nodded and replied calmly, "That's fine. I will need some time to go through it and see if it will benefit my pack members. Then my Beta will get back to you," he said, rising from the guest chair to leave my office. "That's fine, Alpha Ryan," I replied to him. He was 10 years older than me. He looked at me with his deep blue eyes, but he left with his assistant. The same procedure went with the remaining Alphas. One by one, they left until I was alone in my office. Two Alphas agreed because they wanted my company to supply them with agricultural produce this week: bags of rice, beans, maize, and the rest. We signed the agreement, and I told them my agricultural team would get to it. After a hectic day in the office, I was supposed to take a stroll to visit my pack farmlands and the schools. I had an event to attend. They were all scheduled for this week. I considered hiring a new secretary to keep me updated on most of my tasks. As I stood to leave my office, Dennis arrived and said, "Alpha. I am through visiting the pack market and sending out the former Tax Collector's identity as a wanted man." "Good. I am going home for today. Other duties continue tomorrow. You have done a great job," I told Dennis. He smiled and bowed to me. "Thank you, Alpha Benson," he replied. "You're welcome," I said, and picked up my briefcase to leave my office. But Dennis asked me, "Alpha. How about the new foreigners? Are you going to see them today?" I looked at my left wristwatch and saw that it was after 5pm. "No. Until tomorrow," I replied. My wolf, Odin, got annoyed. He resurfaced and wanted me to shift to him. "Fụck off, Odin!" I growled. Dennis submitted to me, sensing that I had secreted more pheromones and my Alpha aura. I quickly snapped out of it and told Dennis, "It's okay. You can leave." "Alright, Alpha," Dennis bowed and left my office. He looked hesitant and wanted to ask me questions, but he dared not disobey me. I grabbed my briefcase and left my office on the top floor, saying goodbye to Mrs. Justina. I left the company, got into my sleek car, and drove back home.
