*Alpha Benson POV*
Dad walked up to the dining table to join Mom and me for breakfast.
After I finished breakfast with my parents, I stood to leave the mansion.
"Dad, Mom, I am leaving for the office," I told my parents, and they smiled.
"Alright, Benson. You can go," Dad dismissed me as he sat in the dining chair.
I picked up my briefcase to leave the house. As I stepped out into the beautiful surroundings, my Beta arrived and bowed to me.
"Good morning, Alpha," Dennis Richard greeted me. He wore a white shirt and black trousers. He was a dark-skinned man, 24 years old. He smelled of cedarwood.
"Morning, Dennis. Did you warm up the car like I asked you to last week?" I asked him as I walked with him to my car.
"Yes, Alpha. I did, and the cars are ready for use," he replied as we approached the cars.
"Good. I will go to the pack hospital first to see the sick werewolves. What about the training camp and the pack school? Have you visited there to see how my father is helping out?" I asked Dennis. He was my height.
"No, Alpha. I have been busy with the company and tax collection in our pack. The last tax collector, David Paulo, absconded with the money we generated. We are searching for him. We found out he left the pack with his family and went to the human city farther away from us," Dennis reported as we stood beside my car.
"David cannot stay hidden for long or stay away from other packs. Werewolves and humans cannot live together for long without them finding out. Find him and bring him back. Send his information to the other packs' Betas to keep watch for him," I told Dennis. I took my car key from him and opened the car door. It was a black Mercedes-Benz GLC.
We were rich and lived a good life. We had our own pack school, university, and markets too.
"Alright, Alpha. I was about to leave for the hospital. We got a report that some injured werewolves were found near pack territory. They are being treated at the pack hospital. I haven't confirmed if they are awake to be brought to your office," Dennis said after I shut my car door and looked at him.
"How many were there?" I asked, and frowned.
"About four of them," he replied, and I sighed.
"I will head to the hospital now. So you don't have to go there. But make sure to get to the market and find a replacement for the old tax collector. Order the gatekeeper to unlock the gate," I told Dennis. He bowed and walked away from my car.
I roared the car engine to life. The ignition turned, and I drove out of the palace toward the pack hospital.
I kept my eyes on the road as I drove to the pack hospital.
When I got there, I drove into the hospital grounds and parked my car.
I turned off the ignition and got out of the car, still dressed in a brown shirt and black trousers, paired with polished black shoes.
I left my briefcase in the car and walked to the magnificent hospital entrance and went inside.
I hardly had sick patients in my pack. But I wanted to see the pack doctor for a DNA test for my daughter, Celine Banks.
It wasn't something I wanted made public yet. But I wanted the DNA test done so I would stop looking at Celine like she wasn't my child. I scented her as mine. She had an oriental scent of frankincense. She resembled Emma with long blonde hair, and large orange eyes like my mother.
"Welcome, Alpha Benson," Dr. Chris, the pack's new doctor, greeted me as I entered the hospital lobby.
I was sure he had perceived my scent. I had a strong earthy scent. I used to secrete more pheromones to show dominance in any place I entered.
However, I caught the delicious scent of jasmine that clung to Dr. Chris's shirt. My black eyes narrowed. I didn't want to think about it.
Not now. But the jasmine scent was so welcoming that my wolf, Odin, wanted to take charge of my body and find the source of the sweet scent.
"Alpha Benson, is everything alright?" Dr. Chris asked, noticing that I was sweating. I was secreting more of my Alpha pheromones. It made everyone in the hospital lobby bow and lower their heads to me.
I was their new Alpha, so they always showed me great respect. But this time, my Alpha aura was taking charge. It was caused by my wolf, Odin. He was hurt and had shut me out since Emma and her wolf, Agnes, cheated on him.
"Yes. I am fine. But what is that scent of jasmine on you? And why do you smell like a woman?" I asked Dr. Chris, and his yellow eyes widened in shock.
"Oh, forgive me, Alpha Benson. I was doing a ward round with some of the stubborn new foreigners who have not been introduced to you yet. Maybe she mistakenly covered me with her intoxicating scent. I found out she was on scent suppressant, so I took it off. That's why I have her scent on me," Dr. Chris explained. My wolf grew curious to go see the new foreigner with the delicious scent.
But I shut him out. Odin could not be interested in a foreigner. As much as I wanted to go see this foreigner with the relaxing and inviting scent, I still needed to follow my pack protocol. I had to ensure she was not an enemy sent to destroy my pack.
"That's fine. I am not here to check on the foreigner yet. I have something important to discuss with you. Follow me," I told Dr. Chris. His father was the former pack doctor, but he was retired now.
"Okay, Alpha." Dr. Chris led me to his office on the first floor of the magnificent two-story building.
Odin charged within me and growled in my head, "Come, Benson. We need to go see her first."
"No, Odin. Pack rules must be followed," I told him and pushed him to the back of my mind. But he kept fighting me, urging me to suspend everything and go to the new mate.
"No way!" I shut my wolf out this time and focused on Dr. Chris, who looked at me worriedly.
"I am fine," I told Dr. Chris and entered his office with him. We sat across from each other, and I told him why I was there.
