Chapter 24

Tristan Pov: I could hear the soft sound of her feet running on the floor. There were so many halls in this mansion, I thought it'd be hard to find her, but her faint giggles in the distance helped me locate her easily. I went in her direction and found her running down the hall. I stayed quiet and followed her, leaving distance between us so she didn't catch me. All of a sudden, I heard a small feminine voice ahead which made Alina stop and look at the person. I knew exactly who the person was. What shocked me was the interaction between her and Amberleigh. They spoke like they already knew each other. As I listened in on their conversation, I noticed that....they surely did know each other. Anger coursed inside me as I was still in shock by this huge surprise I was hit with. Alina walked into her room after some time and I didn't follow her. My brain was hurting from thinking so much about them. Alina knew Amber....Amber knew Alina was all I could focus on. I walked back and waited for her to exit the room so I could call her out. Alina had already done so much and this only added fuel to the fire she created for herself. There was no way I could let this go....she was gonna face my wrath today whether she wanted to or not. I was not gonna let these stupid emotions of mines to let her slide. She had already done too many unforgivable things. It felt like hours since she had gone into Amberleigh's room. I was getting very impatient waiting for her to leave. As if someone could understand my eagerness, she then came out of the room. Her face had hints of warmth and happiness, but she also seemed to be anxious and alarmed. She looked around and started to walk down the hallway. I hid myself so she wouldn't notice me, and I kept a distance from her but didn't let her out of my sight. My impatience became the ruler of my actions as I startled her with my hardened and furious voice. "Do you think you can run from me? Hmm...?" I asked her in fury. "I know exactly where you went and you shouldn't have. Why were you there?" I was rewarded without complete silence. She didn't answer any of my questions, Instead, she stood there shaking. Her eyes looked everywhere but my face and I wasn't happy with her response. "Answer me!" I shouted at her. "Uh...I..." She stammered out. "I don't want to hear that bullshit, talk for f***s sake!" Her mouth opened but no sound came out. She then closed it back after a few seconds of trying to think of the right thing to say to me. "Why are you so quiet now, huh? You had no problem swearing and cursing me before, along with being defiant and not to forget kneeing me!" My eyes never stopped penetrating hers as I stridently yelled in her face. She shut her eyes, inhaling and exhaling repeatedly before she tried her best to respond. "I'm not quiet...just have nothing to s-say..." She finally answered. I rolled my eyes, knowing that's completely a lie. "No need to play innocent, you know that huge damn hard head has a lot to f*****g say!" She crossed her arms across her chest, her eyes going up to my face but not meeting my eyes. "N-no" she whispered. "Stop stuttering, I f*****g hate that s**t. Where did that big boldness and crazy ass ego go when you really need it..." I scoffed as she shrugged nonchalantly. "Didn't I say not to roam these halls without my consent?!" I was beyond furious with her. I didn't give her time to respond, because I continued yelling at her in frustration and anger. "You promised not to, and that's exactly what you f*****g did!" If you could kill with your eyes, my glare would have been had her past 6 feet below. "I-" She couldn't even respond sensibly, because she knew I was right. "Don't try and argue or defend your word, because you know damn well that I'm right..." "I wasn't gonna" She replied as she looked around, cautiously to avoid my gaze. "Yes you were...." "No I wasn't" Alina lied again. "Stop lying...I don't even give a f**k about what you would have said. I want an explanation from you about what the f**k you were thinking, even though it won't do you any justice..." My attention was fully focused on her, not caring who would be lurking around to eavesdrop in this heated argument between Alina and I. "Well then maybe I shouldn't waste my breath on explaining if it doesn't change anything..." She gave me a bored look, but I could tell she was still a little terrored by my outburst. "Maybe you shouldn't dig your grave deeper and deeper, because that's exactly what you're doing right now..."  A small scoff erupted from her, but I noticed it. "How am I digging my grave or whatever the hell, by just saying how stupid it is to waste your breathe?" Her response was snarky and her face gave off the "Unbelievable" look. "I don't care..." I started. "What the hell makes you think it's okay to go against the grain and do something I told you not to?" My brows quirked, and my lips were in a tight line. "Well technically I...." She stopped and started to think of something else to defend herself with, but stayed silent once she realized there was nothing she could say to justify her point. Inhaling deeply, I closed my eyes and tried my hardest to keep my anger in check. "Just shut the hell up already." She shuddered at the coldness in my tone. "I am sick and tired of putting up with your bullshit...." I grabbed her arm and pressed her against the wall harshly. "L-look I....I am sorry," her voice gave away the pain she was in at the firm grip I had her in. My eyes glazed deep into hers, threatening and promising her regret. "No you are not!"  She let out a shaky breath before responding. "Ye-yes I am" Her lies were bringing out the worst in me. Out of a moment of fury and rage, my hand met her cheek with so much force, the sound cut deep through my body, echoing through the halls. Her wails and cries came out painfully, while my red and blazing eyes bored onto her small and vulnerable frame. "Your lies will bring you more pain..." I told her with no emotion or remorse. Alina Pov: Tristan's slap had knocked me completely out of my senses, leaving me absolutely speechless as I slid down the wall to the floor, tears rolling down my eyes perpetually. "Get up" His voice was ear-piercing to my ears and the glare he gave me felt like fire burning on my skin. I didn't have any energy to get up, nor did I try to. I stayed where I was, sitting down on the ground, my back pressed to the back of the wall. My eyes were burning from the tears that kept escaping them and my ears went deaf to the sound of his voice ordering me to move. All of a sudden, I felt his hard arms wrap around my waist and in a swift motion, he jerked me upwards roughly, causing me to yelp out at the twinge of pain. "Are you actually f*****g deaf?" He shrilled right by my ear. I didn't answer his question, though. My hands went up to my face in an attempt to hide the painful tears that rolled down my face effortlessly. A few moments after I bowed my head down into my hands, his hand found it's way on mine, ripping them from my face and holding them against the wall tightly. "Stop trying to hide from me, Alina" His tone didn't give away any kindness or sincerity, it was only harsh and cold, filled with so much anger. "And stop crying like an overgrown goddamn baby. This is all your doing...." I didn't have the courage to look up at him or oblige to his commands, because I felt so defeated and small against him. He wasn't happy with me in the least, and saying he was beyond furious was a complete understatement. I wished I still had that self-assurance and courage to not let him get to me and make me any more vulnerable than I already was, but that part of me was nowhere to be seen. "I won't ask you again.." His words came out threatening and dangerous, and I was sure he meant what he said. I tried to look up and meet his eyes, but I just couldn't. The intensity in his made it completely impossible for me to hold eye contact. His hands then found its way in my hair, pulling it backwards and making my head go back with it. A wail escaped my mouth as his grip on my hair was hurting my scalp. It felt like he was pulling them out, and the force of his pull wouldn't leave a doubt in my mind that it probably would. "I asked nicely, but you just don't understand nice..." My eyes collided with his penetrating and stifling ones. I quickly looked away, but he pulled my face towards him causing my head to hurt more. I then looked back at him and tried my best not to freak out from his cold scrutiny. "Y-you think.....th-this is....n-nice?" I asked him in between my sobs. "Oh I know it's not, and that's the whole point isn't it? Why should I be nice after everything you've done?"  "But....wha-what did I... I do?" I asked innocently, making him inhale sharply. "Stop acting like you don't know all of the s**t you have done since the moment I've met you!" His loud voice came back and hit my already sensitive ears. "I- I don't..." My head wasn't thinking straight and my words came out without thinking. The next moment, he yanked me from my spot on the wall and literally threw me to the other side of the hallway. My head hit the wall hard, and I cried out loudly. Every part of my body ached in pain, the inside and out. I held my head and tried my best to stop the migraine that was starting to form. I just knew I would have a huge lump on my head by tomorrow. Tristan took long strides towards where I was slumped at. It didn't take him long before he was standing right in front of me, looking down at my vulnerable and weak state. I curled in a ball and buried my throbbing head away from him, so he couldn't hurt me anymore than he already had. Some seconds passed by in complete silence, except for his ragged and harsh breathing, and my cries that I tried my best to hide...but couldn't. "You know..." He started. "All actions have consequences, and when you defy me purposefully, you're pleading for my torture." His voice was calmer than it was, but the intensity and coldness in his tone never left. Out the side of my eye, I could see him walking away from me, but stopped when I started speaking. "W-why...what w-was so wr-wrong with m-me spe-speaking....to h-er?" His body tensed as I spoke, and somehow, he knew who I was referring to. "Why c-can't I....I sp-eak to her?" My voiced sounded foreign to my ears, I could barely recognize it was me speaking. He turned back around and took a few steps towards me, but stopped just a few inches away. It doesn't matter why you can't..." "What matters is...I ordered you not to take it upon yourself to go on a scavenger hunt and find something that wasn't bothering you. If I didn't give you the option to communicate with anyone other than I and the maids, then you are not to think that it would ever be okay to talk to her or anyone for that matter. You don't know the girl and I didn't introduce you to her...therefore, she is nothing to you and you should not have done what you did." He responded forbiddingly. "I- I truly apologize for that...I wasn't thinking and I promise not to do it again." I mustered up enough bravery to say. "You have already promised that...and broke it. No need to make the same mistake twice. The likes of you can never listen, because you're so hell-bent on doing things your own way." I didn't reply to him, because I didn't know what else to say. He attempted to start walking away again, and without thinking, again, I crossed my boundaries. "Who is she to you anyways?" I asked. He turned back around and walked to me, grabbing my jaw tightly and bringing me up to his height. "That's none of your f*****g business, Alina. Just know that....if I find you talking to her, I will literally have your damn head." "And just because I'm walking away now....we are far from done. You will understand what it's like to be truly unhappy from now on. You claim I have already made your life a living hell?" A smirk played on his lips. "Then you haven't seen nothing yet..." He released me, making me fall back down to the ground. I just sat down on the ground, speechless, as I watched him walk away from me, leaving me alone in these dark halls.
