The moment I saw the blood on the paper, something inside me broke.
Blood… it always scared me. Ever since the accident, whenever I saw it, I could hear my mother’s scream again. I could feel her hand slipping away from mine. I never told anyone how much it haunted me.
But now, the stalker knew. He knew my weakness. He knew me too well.
I lay in my bed, holding the blanket close to my face. My eyes were wide open. Every time I closed them, I saw the words written in blood.
“You can’t hide forever.”
I turned again and again, but sleep never came. My heart kept racing, my body kept shaking. I could hear every sound in the house—the ticking clock, the wind against the window, even the steps of my stepmother moving around downstairs.
The night felt endless. The note lay in the drawer beside me, but it felt alive, like it was calling my name.
By morning, I hadn’t slept for a single minute. My eyes burned, and the pale light creeping through the curtains only made the room look colder. Somewhere deep inside, I knew—whatever had begun last night was far from over.
