It wasn’t until they reached the back door that Rory realised what the woman was about.
“Can’t I just wait inside, somewhere out the way?”
“Nope. Savero's trollops can wait outside.”
The guards sniggered and stood aside.
“Wait!” said Rory. “You know anything of a woman with a veil who —”
The woman opened the door and unceremoniously threw Rory out. The door slammed shut.
“Dammit.” Rory picked herself up.
She had been on to something with those rooms, she was sure of it. She had to get back somehow. Maybe come morning, after the Black Orchid had closed and everyone had gone to sleep, she could break in through a window.
