CHAPTER 27 As soon as she could, Rory scrambled up a wall to a roof, almost without noticing. She ran and jumped faster than she ever had before, until her legs were shaking, until her lungs were on fire, and still she pushed for more speed. She wanted to run and never stop, not until it all went away. She wanted to find something that might swallow her whole and remove her from this awful place, from the awful feeling that had sunk its teeth all the way to her bones.
