Chapter 5: Back from the dead

Esmeralda I couldn’t sleep anymore, so I gave up and sitting up I saw Andraleia was already sitting quietly. “What’s wrong?” I whispered, trying to see whatever she was seeing outside the den. She was looking straight ahead and slowly began to crawl out of the den as she quietly replied, “I feel a shift in the two worlds, someone is trying to create a tear between this world and the living.” My heart skipped a beat, could it be Lucan? Could he have actually found a way? I didn’t allow myself to get my hopes up too much and followed her. When I stood up, I could very faintly hear voices, almost like a whisper. As I followed Andraleia through the forest, the voices became louder until I could make out my name being called, it was more than one voice and more then one voice chanting and speaking the language of the dead. I recognized some of the words from when Lucan would summon his zombies. Ahead of us was a brightness and the closer we got, the more my heart filled with joy and I became excited, feeling true hope for the first time. It was almost like a mirage, a thin veil that I could see through. I could see Lucan and two other people with him, all of them were doing some sort of ritual and every so often I heard my name. I ran towards them, but the veil felt staticky and sticky so that I couldn’t pass through it. I cried in frustration and hopelessness, and dread filled me as we both watched the veil slowly closing up again. Crying, I turned away and slowly began to walk back to the den, all this waiting had been for nothing, of course there wasn’t a way you could truly bring someone back from the dead. Andraleia grabbed my arm fiercely, her softness completely gone, only determination on her face. “What are you doing?” I asked nervously as she pulled me back towards the veil. “They are not strong enough to do this ritual alone, even if they had all twelve of them here it would not be enough, they will need the power of an elf too.” I just looked at her, dumbfounded. “How do you know how many necromancers like Lucan there are? How do you know this spell?” She grabbed a stick from the ground and started drawing some symbol on to the dirt, it wasn’t like Lucans pentagram, it was some strange pattern of lines, circles, half circles and other strange symbols I couldn’t even explain. While she was doing this she answered, “a very rare few of my kind still lived back when the spell was created to make those necromancers,” she nodded her head in the direction of Lucan and the two strangers who looked eerily similar to him. “Only once before has this spell been tried that I know of. It was done by my people when our queen lost her lover to a shapeshifting vampire, some of those necromancers helped bring him back for the queen as our elven spells were not strong enough or dark enough to bring someone back from the dead. These people are here for you, I will help get you back to them and consider our debt owed.” She didn’t wait for an answer and wasted no time, she lifted her hands up in to the air and began to chant, but it was very different from the language Lucan used, this language which I knew was elven felt light and good, it felt like Mother Nature wrapping you in her warm embrace whereas Lucans magic felt cold and dark, like death itself was whispering false promises into your ear. I watched Andraleia and she began to glow brightly, a soft white glow that grew brighter so that I had to shield my eyes. I turned my gaze to the veil and saw it reopening again and the wider it grew, the less staticky it looked. A howl broke out behind us, but whatever it was, it was no werewolf. It looked like a seven-foot humanoid skinless thing with arms that were so long they didn’t match its body. It had long claws that were dripping something that wasn’t blood, it could have been some sort of venom, but whatever it was I wasn’t sticking around to find out as I noticed it wasn’t alone. The veil had drawn the attention of the creatures and other lost souls here, and slowly they started to come out of the shadows. “You can cross over now, go!” Yelled Andraleia. “If I go you’ll be left here with all of these monsters, they’ll kill you, you’ll be dead as in no soul and no afterlife just dead.” “Don’t worry about me, just go!” She pushed me through the veil, but I grabbed hold of her wrist just in time so that she fell through with me, I looked back and saw the creatures running now, but as soon as we crashed to the floor everyone stopped chanting and the veil slammed shut like it had never existed. “Esmeralda!” Lucan called out and came running towards me, dropping to his knees, he grabbed me so that my upper body was leaning against his legs while he held me tight. “I can’t f.ucking believe it worked, I’ve missed you so much.” He kissed my face all over and was hugging me so tight I was choking. I tugged on his arms, and he loosened his grip a bit when I spluttered. “Sorry,” he laughed and held my face between his hands and looked at me. I smiled shyly at his intense gaze, I’d forgotten just how beautiful he was, and I blushed like we had just met for the first time all over again, Then again, I don’t think I’d ever stopped blushing around him even before I’d died. “Hello beautiful,” he smiled. I blushed so hard and couldn’t keep eye contact when I shyly answered, “hello.” He kissed me softly on the lips and I melted into the kiss, it felt so good to feel the warmth of his lips on mine and I wrapped his t-shirt in my fist so that I could pull him in against me and deepen the kiss. Being back in the world of the living meant my empathic feelings were back, and they hit me hard. I realized how forward I was being with this hot guy and grew so shy and flustered that I broke the kiss a little too quickly and looked to the floor. “Are you ok? Do you not want me to touch you right now?” He asked. I shook my head no, “it’s not that, I just realized how forward I was being, grabbing you and my social anxieties kicked in.” He laughed softly, “a vampire with social anxiety?” I smiled, still unable to meet his eyes, “yes, being locked up for centuries does that to a person, and it doesn’t help that you’re so gorgeous.” I cringed inwardly at that, and he laughed that boyish laugh men do sometimes and it was so hot. “Why thank you my lady,” he made a bowing gesture that had I been standing would have had my knees grow weak. In a more gentler tone he said, “I am sorry that you had to suffer for so long, if I had known how they treated you then I would have slain them all and taken you with me.” It was my turn to laugh, “Hm, no, I’m pretty sure you would have killed me too without Dana to stand in between and protect me.” He smiled and cleared his throat a little, a habit I’d learned meant that he felt uncomfortable about something. “Have you and Dana been ok?” I asked. He broke eye contact with me and muttered, “uh, yeah, we are fine, come on.” He helped me to my feet, and quickly putting an end to the conversation, he led us towards the Others who had patiently been waiting and talking to one another. Andraleia came over to me and hugged me. “Thank you so much, you don’t know what this means for my people, we are no longer extinct, and I shall create more of my kind, but I do not think it was wise to bring me back too, messing with the balance of nature, of life and death is never a good thing so be careful my friend.” She bid us all goodbye and the female necromancer waited until Andraleia was out of earshot before saying, “that was very dangerous and dark magic we used to bring you back, your elf friend is right, bringing you back was risky enough, but bringing two people back from death itself won’t go unnoticed.” “I know, I’m sorry I just couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her behind when she helped open the veil, it was closing, and she did a ritual of her own combining it with yours somehow.” All three of them looked in surprise at that, and it was the man with dark hair that answered, “ah, so that’s why it worked, we knew we weren’t strong enough when it started to close and then all of a sudden, there was a new surge of power in the spell, an elf’s spell combined with necromancy magic is the key then?” He looked thoughtful at that. Stepping forward he bowed the same way Lucan sometimes did, “my apologies, I have not introduced myself, I am William, a very old friend of Lucan’s.” I recognized the name, and then I recalled Lucan and Diamond, a vampire from a strip club, talking about a William that had fought alongside Lucan back in the medieval times. The lady came up to me next and bowed too, “I am Azura, it is nice to meet you.” I smiled at them and like an i.diot stuttered, “uh, hello, I’m Esmeralda.” After my stupidly awkward reply, we started heading back to where they had parked their cars, William said goodnight to us, he kissed my hand, again, the same way Lucan sometimes did, and he gave Lucan that man hug guys did before climbing into his car and driving home. Azura came over next and hugged Lucan, kissing him on the cheek, I had to ignore the jealousy that flared, she was even more beautiful than Dana seeing as she was designed to be unnaturally beautiful to vampires like we were to humans. She came over to me and hugged me too, “I am glad we were able to save you.” Then she was gone. Lucan opened the car door for me and then closed it when I was inside, I’d almost forgotten how sweet and gentlemanly he was. In the car, Lucan placed my hand on top of the gear stick, placing his hand on top of mine he laced his fingers through mine and drove us home like that. Halfway home, I joked, “I think you’ve taught me to how to use the gear shift.” He hadn’t let go of my hand once, even when changing gears. He looked at me, “sorry, I just don’t want to let you go again.” “You won’t lose me again,” I said gently. He smiled at me, but didn’t let my hand go. I waited while Lucan opened his apartment door and I saw Tom looking up from where he had been sleeping on the sofa. Tom was Lucans ginger cat and as soon as he saw me he came running full speed and literally jumped on me and climbed up so that I would hold him. I nuzzled my face into his neck and kissed him, “I’ve missed you.” When I glanced up at Lucan he was watching us with tenderness. I had barely put Tom down on the floor when Lucan grabbed me by the waist and started walking me backwards into his bedroom, “I think it’s my turn for some affection,” he murmured. “Slow down, anyone would think you missed me,” I teased. He kissed my neck and mumbled, “sorry, I have missed you and I really need to be deep inside you right now.” He got onto his knees and pulled my trousers and panties off, I gasped in surprise when he grabbed my a.ss with both hands and started licking and kissing my p*****.. I held his head to steady myself and moaned while he was licking and kissing my sweet spot over and over again. When I was wet enough, he pushed me onto the bed, took off his jeans and boxers and got on top of me, sliding his big thick member inside my wet and tight one. “Mmm, I forgot how incredibly tight you are,” he moaned. He f.ucked me deep and hard, staying deep inside of me so that his pelvis was rubbing against my c.lit but f.ucking me hard enough so that he was still hitting my G-spot too, all at the same time, so that I was moaning and rolling my hips against his, and then I was coming, calling out his name over and over. “Lucan! Lucan! Lucan!” I cried out, coming again and again until I had to tap his shoulder a few times to make him stop. “So you still have the multiple orgasm perk from being my enchante morte,” he teased. I laughed and then grew quiet. He looked down at me from where he was resting on his forearms, still inside of me and asked, “what’s wrong?” “I lost the perk of being beautiful.” I’d seen in the mirror that my eyes were their normal dark brown again, I was my old overweight self again, too, thankfully I at least looked how I did before I had become a vampire, so that I still had my long black curly hair, no gray hair to be seen. Caught up in the moment, I’d forgotten I didn’t have my vampire looks anymore, now I remembered I became self-conscious. Lucan grew annoyed, “don’t f.ucking say that, you’re beautiful to me.” “How, you even admitted before that you weren’t attracted to me at all when we first met, you thought I was ugly even by human standards.” I felt tears sliding down, and Lucan grew still and stared at me. “Uh, Esmeralda, I’ve never said that to you.” “Yes, you have.” He shook his head, “no, I thought it before I knew you as a person. I would never have said that to anyone’s face, let alone yours, I would never be so disrespectful.” I frowned, “then how would I know that?” He was quiet for a moment and then said, “the bond between us, somehow you must have picked up on my old feelings or memories or some s.hit.” He looked at me then and stroking my face gently, he softly said, “you mean everything to me, Esmeralda, I was shallow and horrible to you back then because I thought you were just like every other vampire, and then I got to know you. You’re so beautiful to me.” I snorted at that, and he kissed me, “I mean it, you’re f.ucking beautiful, so quit putting yourself down and let me show you.” He kissed me again and slowly started moving inside of me, drawing soft moans of pleasure from my lips. He made love to me like that all night.
