“WHAT’CHA DOING THIS morning, Meg?” Tabby asked at breakfast time. I hadn’t told them what had happened last night yet, though I was going to have to. They’d be shocked to find me in my bed at eight pm tonight. Tabby ate her bacon and eggs and chewed on toast slathered with butter. She had no idea what sort of world I’d inadvertently stumbled upon. I picked at my oatmeal and tried to drink my hot chocolate. I was tired from a lack of sleep. It had taken me ages to settle last night. My body was sore from my fight with Nyeer. I’d even had to wear a turtleneck sweater today to hide the purplish bruises on my neck. “I’ve got a couple of free periods, why?” “Yeah, I know. What are you up to?” Tabby repeated.
