Forcing Me to Love Her
Geo's POV
I was at school this morning. I was running, as in running very fast like running for my life. I can feel the sweat
in my forehead dropping. It was running from my temple down to my mouth, it was salty!
Why can't she wait for me? Ugly witch! I was angry, giggling and grinding my teeth.
I stopped for a while. I can't believe Kaila did this again to me. She is not my type. When we were younger, my parents and hers agreed to make us husband and wife in the future. For now, she is my girlfriend, a fake girlfriend if I would decide. I hated her very much, especially the way she looked at me. I swear to myself not to marry her in the future. It'll be her suffering, not mine. But it's a different thing for her because she likes me very badly. She's not that beautiful. She's just a simple girl, and she's very mean.
My parents and hers have had a mysterious past. According to the story my father told me, the mother's boyfriend was her father, and the father's girlfriend was the mother of Kaila. My father, Jack Roosevelt, has loved Kaila's mother, Stacy Moore, even up until now. Nonetheless, since they are married to a different man and woman, the only thing they can do for now is to be faithful to each other. I am too young to know all this stuff, but dad told me that it's better that way. And this should enlighten my mind to what's the reality between our family and Kaila's very own family. And here we are, victims of the past of two families, following the tradition of the past. I didn't like it, and I wanted things to just go smoothly. I can't be a husband to Kaila, and she can't be my wife, just to obey our parents. The same thing with her, she can't be my wife, if we're just forced by our parents. We have to put a stop to this custom. We were not born for it. It seems that we are stripped of our own choice.
Here she is again, doing the same thing as always. She wanted me to be late for school so that Miss Oh, our first-period class teacher, would put me outside the classroom, and stay again in the corridor, standing for forty-five minutes.
She used to tell me every time I told her the truth that I don't like her, and she should find a boyfriend of her choice to replace me.
"i***t!" I looked at her with my eyes blazing with anger.
After saying that, I walked away from her, and she always had reasons to bring me back to her, to accompany her to school.
Can't you go to school, alone?
"Do you want me to tell your parents and mine that you are bullying me again?" She yelled.
She used to do that, trying to punish me.
My mind can't grasp deeply why she was like that. Maybe, she thought that doing this thing would fix everything.
I will hate you, forever! I couldn't tell her, so I just murmured in my mind.
"Stop it!" I walked back to her.
"I knew it! You're afraid, aren't you?" She laughed at me like a witch.
"Just because we're poor, and you're rich?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You used to take advantage, Kaila, admit it!" I burst out in anger.
"Remember?" She raised her right eyebrow, looking at me sarcastically.
Her eyebrow meant something. I knew it! She would use my parents if I continued to insist on my opinion.
Sometimes, I felt sorry for her. I used to bully her and hate her a lot! It's all because of the fault of our parents.
I didn't talk and grabbed her hands. We went together to school, silently. No one dared to talk.
I sighed.
She looked at me, and I looked at her with anger sketched on my face.
"Geo, one question."
"Go ahead!"
"What's wrong with me that you don't want me as your girlfriend?"
She asked me the same question the other day.
You don't get it? You're ugly, witch!
"Uhm..." I fixed my voice.
It's because you're not my type, okay?"
"Am I ugly?" She continued asking.
You're right, you're ugly! That's why, don't force me to like you, witch!
"Nope!"
"Then, why is that?"
"Don't you get it?" I raised my voice because of the anger inside me.
"I want freedom, Kaila! I want a girlfriend of my choice, not my parents' choice!" I tamed my voice.
"Freedom from what?" Someone interrupted me.
We're inside the campus.
I knew who owned that voice. Stephen Back? He was the tallest guy in our school. He used to bully me. He looked at me, wondering what freedom I was talking about. Both hands were in his pockets. Many of our classmates were afraid of him. I can't fully grasp why he was like that.
"Freedom from what, i***t?" He pushed me.
I stood up again.
"Nothing," I answered.
"What's the matter, babe?"
Her girlfriend, Rain Lam, walked like a cat as she was heading toward us. She had the same attitude as her boyfriend. If Stephen Back was the King of Bullies, Rain Lam was his queen. Rain and her brother, Diego, had lots of differences. Diego was a very sociable guy in our school. He made lots of friends during his first day in school. Rain was indeed the exact opposite of him. If Diego made a lot of friends, Rain made a lot of enemies. I thought everything was fine. Rain and her boyfriend started talking. I got up and started pacing inside the building.
"Do we have a very important meeting here?" I looked back. The person was looking at me. I was taken aback when I saw Johnson Laud's presence. He came over, grabbed my neck. He leveled his face to mine, and I saw his eyes again - the eyes that would mean only one thing, and I was right. He took my bag and put it inside the wet garbage can. That garbage can had been smelling for a week already. He choked me with his very big hands. He pressed his forehead into mine. He was sweating. Did he play basketball before this? His sweat was steaky!
"Bravo!"
Rica Sol clapped her hands while heading toward us. She was the hottest girl in our school. She always had in her bag a new school uniform, woven by her mom, new shoes, a new shirt for sport, and many other things that drove many girls and boys to her. Many youngsters like me wanted to date her. But one thing that I didn't like about her - her pride!
Johnson dropped me.
I wiped his sweat from my forehead.
Team Bad Guys are here? Unbelievable!
I sighed.
Kaila looked at me in question. Both hands were open like asking me why. I snubbed.
I took my slippers from where it was thrown, and secretly left the tigers still talking to each other.
They had forgotten me completely.
Kaila grabbed my left shoulder. Her skin was so smooth and the perfume she used was the same perfume my mom used to buy.
"Leave me alone! Let us free ourselves from the past, Kaila!" I was very angry.
"But, why?"
"You know it! I don't want this kind of life my parents give me! So, please, I am begging, stop!"
