If anyone told Ida that married life was sweet, they didn’t tell her just how cloying it was. They had just laid down for the night and Ida burrowed under the heavy blanket. The air was charged, and the moon peeked through the curtains casting a sliver of light on the silk bed sheet. Ida tried to sleep but her heart was drumming to a crescendo. Kensley’s restless hand wasn’t helping either.
