Fairy Pt.1
"This place gives me the creeps," Anastasia said, clutching her blue sweater close to her body as the wind blew slightly across her face. "We're just going to cross. Nothing bad will happen as long as we follow this trail," Hannah replied, carefully stepping on the bumpy and rocky ground. "Is there another way across? I mean, there might be snakes here... or spiders!" Anastasia said, shivering slightly with disgust and fear, seemingly imagining those creepy creatures. "Like this?" Anastasia screamed when Crimson flung something towards her. She jumped and cursed wildly. "Crimson, you asshole!" Crimson only laughed at her reaction. "It's just a weed, okay? Jeez, you're so paranoid," she said, rolling her eyes. "Like I would touch something if I wasn't sure whether it's poisonous or not." "What if you knew they weren't poisonous? Would you still touch them?" Anastasia asked with wide eyes, making Crimson shrug. "Depends on the size and appearance." "Yuck..." Anastasia was about to say another word when Hannah glanced back at them from a few feet ahead. "Keep up, will ya?! The sooner we walk, the sooner we get there!" The two just snorted at her attitude as they followed behind her. The three of them were heading to a cabin near the woods, and Hannah believed that the woods themselves were a shortcut. They had two weeks off from work to spend time together. They hardly had time for bonding because of their hectic work schedules, unlike in their younger years. "I'm pretty sure that if we follow the trail, we'll get out of here in twenty minutes," Hannah said, holding a nearby branch as they continued to walk. "Twenty minutes?! Are you kidding me?!" Anastasia said, her eyes wide. "I can't walk that far!" "Then stay here while Crimson and I continue," Hannah said with a single glare. "I think it's better to walk here than in the city where we have to walk for an hour," Crimson commented, and Hannah nodded once. Anastasia just grumbled under her breath as Crimson glanced around, looking for something that would catch her eye. The forest was crowded with tall trees, reminding her of a horror movie. She then made the wise decision to pull out her camcorder strapped to her belt, lifting it as it started to record. "What are you doing?" Anastasia asked, curious about Crimson's actions. "Trying to find something extraordinary. I'll review this video later on, maybe I accidentally caught Slender Man or something," Crimson replied jokingly. "If you did capture him, what are you going to do?" Anastasia asked, intrigued. "Hmm, maybe ask for his autograph or maybe a selfie—f**k!" Anastasia and Hannah burst into laughter as Crimson tripped over a rock and fell face down on the ground. "Ugh," Crimson muttered, sitting up. "Dumbass, what the f**k are you doing?!" Hannah laughed loudly. Crimson glared at her. "Gee, thanks a lot for the concern," she said sarcastically, looking around for her dropped camcorder. "Hey, stand up. What are you looking for?" Anastasia asked, offering her help. "I'm looking for my camcorder. I swear I dropped it here," Crimson replied, starting to search through the dead leaves on the ground. "Forget it, just buy a new one," Hannah suggested, but Crimson shook her head. "Hell no, I'm in deep s**t if I lose that. It was my brother's!" "Let me help you find it," Anastasia offered, and both she and Hannah joined in the search. Unbeknownst to them, Crimson had strayed a bit far from the trail when she suddenly heard jolly music coming from deeper in the woods. Her heart raced with excitement as she felt drawn to the sound. Forgetting about the camera and her friends, she bolted away from the trail and followed the music. Anastasia and Hannah were so focused on searching that they didn't notice her disappearance. Crimson eagerly followed the sound until she reached a clearing, like a hidden town. People were joyfully dancing and playing various instruments, as if they were at a festive celebration. Although Crimson wasn't fond of dancing, she found herself drawn towards the crowd. A man suddenly grabbed her arm, and she was taken aback by his attractiveness. He was tall, with pale skin, long ash blond hair braided intricately, and mesmerizing golden eyes that seemed to glow. He had a warm smile on his face as he led her towards the people and spun her around. Before she knew it, they were dancing with steps she had never learned or recognized in her whole life. It was a wonder how she danced so well, and the man effortlessly kept up with her. After what felt like half an hour of dancing, Crimson was slightly panting while the man appeared unaffected. "What's your name?" he asked, his eyes shining in the sunset. "Crimson," she replied, almost happily. "What's yours?" "Sid," he replied, tilting his head. "You're beautiful, did you know that?" "Why, thank you," Crimson giggled, and Sid let out a soft laugh. "You must be hungry from all that dancing. Come, I'll guide you somewhere we can eat," he said, enveloping her smaller hand with his larger one. Crimson eagerly nodded, allowing him to lead her to an unknown destination. A few minutes later, they arrived at a fairly large stone house adorned with unfamiliar flowers. Sid continued to guide her until they entered the house and reached the kitchen. "This is my house," Sid introduced, spreading his arms to indicate the old yet beautiful polished stone walls. "Here is the kitchen, and we just passed by the living room. There's a toilet there." He stood up and went to open a peculiar-looking cupboard. Inside, he took out a green bowl and placed it in front of her. "Wait a minute, I'll go fetch your drink," he said, heading to the counter to grab a glass, spoon, and a pitcher of water. He set them on the table. "There you go, hope you like it," he said, returning to the table. "Thank you so much," she replied, grabbing the spoon and looking inside the bowl. Inside was a strange-looking black rice that could be mistaken for mud at first glance. Without hesitation, she started eating it. The taste was not what she expected - it was gooey, slightly sweet and sour, but still good. "How is it?" Sid asked, fascinated by how adorable she looked while eating. "It was good! What is the--" As soon as she looked up, she felt like she was slapped and awakened from a dream. What was she doing here? Why did she follow a stranger? She felt like she was in a hypnotic trance, gazing at the guy. She couldn't believe she hadn't noticed how pale he was, even paler than her. And what terrified her were his long, sharp ears, like those she had seen in fiction about elves. And his eyes, why were they golden? Her eyes widened as she realized she had lost track of her friends and didn't know where she was. The sun was setting, and it was almost night. "Is there a problem, my sweet?" Sid asked, tilting his head with a calm smile. "I... um... Thank you so much for being so hospitable and for the food, but... uh... I must go. My friends are going to get worried," she said, standing up and making a slight screeching noise as she moved the chair. He just gazed at her, not answering. He lifted his arms and placed them on the table, resting his chin on his palm. Feeling unnerved, she swallowed and tried to smile. "Uh... T... thank you again. Excuse me," she stuttered, walking out of the house and trying not to appear too uncomfortable. As soon as she got out, she ran and saw those... creatures... staring at her, but nothing stopped her. Some shook their heads, as if a girl running out of nowhere was a usual sight for them. She soon reached the end of the clearing, the exact place where she first saw this town. As she continued to walk through the thick forest, she couldn't help but think how much of an i***t she was. She knew her friends were worried sick, and she couldn't wait to tell them about her experience. But she wasn't sure if they would believe her, and they would probably think she was joking, so maybe telling them wasn't a good idea after all. After a few more minutes, a grin formed on her lips when she caught sight of the trail. In her excitement, she ran towards it, weaving her way through the branches and leaves. She started to follow the trail, cursing slightly when she realized she didn't have her phone - she had left it with Anastasia. She continued to walk, feeling relieved when she saw light in the distance. Maybe she was nearing the cabin. After some time, she reached the end of the trail. Her eyes widened at the sight of the clearing - she was back in the town she assumed was for elves. "What the...?" she muttered, watching the scene before her. The party was still going on, but it had started to calm down. "Back so soon?" a voice asked next to her. She turned her head and saw the guy she didn't want to see at the moment. Sid was leaning against a tree, still wearing that calm smile. "I... I think I made the wrong turn... uh... Goodbye," she said, turning to walk the opposite way. But she heard him chuckle. "It's no use," he said. She turned her head to face him. "Excuse me?" "I said it's no use... Wherever you go, you will just come back to this town." At this, she fully faced him, her expression showing confusion with a hint of worry. "What do you mean? Why can't I find my way out?" "Have you heard of us? We are fairies. Smart and magical creatures... Well, that's what they say in human books," he said, facing her and leaning down. "Fairies aren't real," she said, looking up to meet his gaze. "Believe what you want to believe, little human," he said, shrugging. "What does this have to do with me being stuck here?" she asked. "Sometimes humans wander into our territory, and we take the opportunity to abduct them using our trance... And the human who gets caught in it becomes the spouse of the one who captures them first... Unless the human is too old or young, they won't be affected by our trance," he explained, shrugging again. "And what are you saying?" Crimson asked, taking a step back, her eyes narrowed. "I'm saying that you're going to be my wife, whether you like it or not. Not that I can complain, you're cute for a human being," he said, his eyes trailing from her foot to her face as if checking her out. At this, she started to feel red flags rising and quickly shook her head. "No! We barely know each other!" "Well, we can start getting to know each other now," he said, walking towards her. "Stay back! I'm not going to be your wife! You can't just force me into this!" she yelled, glancing at him and then at the trail repeatedly. "I just did," he replied, chuckling slightly. Crimson suddenly remembered the black cooked rice she had eaten and the flashbacks of what the elders and books had said about not accepting an entity's hospitality. "..you can't.." she muttered, her heart beating wildly in her chest, partly from fear and partly from how long she had been walking. "I told you, I just did. Remember the rice I gave you? It was a seal for human spouses. So you can never leave this town or my side," he explained. She remained silent, unable to process everything that had happened. This could be a prank, but her constant circling and the trance she was in were unexplainable. At her silence, Sid's smile turned into a smirk. "Now come on home. I'm pretty sure you're tired," he said, reaching out to grab her arm. But she moved it away, glaring at him. He sighed, wondering why humans could be so stubborn. Why couldn't they just accept the truth that if they were trapped inside a certain creature's realm, there was no going back? She should consider herself lucky that a creature like him had chosen her and wanted her as a wife. Other creatures lure humans to be their slaves. "How do I get back?" she asked, making him narrow his eyes. "I told you, there's no going back," he said, gazing at her face. She wasn't the most beautiful woman who had gotten lost in their realm, but she was quite a looker. He had dismissed all the female humans who had gotten lost in their town, making him single for his thirty years of existence... But upon seeing her, his heart skipped a beat, and he felt that something bad would happen if he let her go. So he approached her and almost got into a fight with another male fairy. Luckily, after his threat, the male backed down, and he finally had the chance to get to the female. There was no way he was going to let her go. "And why should I tell you?" he asked her. "Because I don't want to be here!" she almost yelled, but she quickly composed herself. "Well, I do," he replied, taking her arm before she could react, gripping it tightly but not to the point of cutting off her blood circulation. "Let go!" she shouted, trying to pry her arm out of his grip, but he just tugged it harshly. "I don't know why you're being so stubborn. I told you once, and I'm going to tell you again, you're here to stay whether you like it or not... I'm sick of your little rebellion, and I can't have my wife acting like that," his smile was long gone, replaced by a snarl. "You can't.." she said desperately, but his glare was so frightening that she decided to just bow her head. He took this as a sign of submission, making him smirk again in triumph. He held her close to him as he dragged her back towards their new home. In the past two weeks, Crimson had been forced to be a good housewife. Although she could go outside, as the other fairies were nice to her and did their best to make her comfortable in their town, She would have enjoyed it if she had not been held there against her will. Her 'husband' has work to do, hunting for food and helping plants and animals so they would be healthy. It's their natural role as fairies, and they were granted good looks and were never starved by the amount of food and other supplies that go around. He'd leave at ten am and would be back at five in the afternoon. On Saturdays and Sundays, he's just at home, leaving her to clean and tend the whole house and their future children. Fortunately, he didn't make a move on her... yet. Not that she wants him to. Even though they're considered a married couple now, Sid still prefers to 'make love' to her when she fully accepts that she belongs here with him. He wants their first night to be romantic and a night to remember. A night that both of them are willing. And she knew that night wasn't going to happen. She tapped her finger on the window pane of their house, completely bored. She had finished the chores in the house, something that she didn't do in her past house except when it was important. Not that there are many chores, there are only two of them in the house after all. And she's not planning on adding another person. The only things that used to ease her boredom were her gadgets, her laptop, phone, and Nintendos... Not even a single TV was here! "Ugh!" She said out loud, standing up from where she sat and nearly breaking the pot that was outside the window pane. She glanced around the house, desperately trying to find ways to entertain herself, but she couldn't find any. And like hell she'd do the laundry. In her apartment, she would just dump her clothes in a bag and let the laundry shop do all the work, well except her undergarments... She preferred to wash them herself. "I'm home!" An almost calm yet happy voice sounded from the doorway. She suddenly felt arms surround her waist and was pulled into a chest. "Did someone miss me?" Sid asked lowly, his breath fanning her neck. "Why are you so early?" She asked, feeling him spin her around so she was now facing him. "I've finished my work earlier than expected... What are you up to, my darling?" He asked, holding her hand and then sitting both of them on the nearby chairs. "I'm bored," she replied, taking her hand from his and putting it on her lap. "There's nothing to do here, and there's no way I'm going to do laundry." "Okay, I think I'll be in charge of the laundry. I'll do it every Saturday," he shrugged, standing up and making his way to the kitchen counters. "But how about my boredom? Simply going outside and talking to other fairies won't help!" she yelled after him. He didn't answer for a moment, as if he was thinking, as he set two cups on top of the counter. "I have a solution for that." "And what is it?" He hummed slightly, then went back to the table with two cups of tea. Setting them on the table and pushing them slightly towards her. "We could add an addition to the family, so you could have someone to take care of." Judging by the way he smiled, she knew what he meant by that. She just smirked, deciding to play along. "Yeah, of course," she said, nodding approvingly. "I'd like that." He looked taken aback, not expecting her answer, but his eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas Eve. "Y...You mean it?" he asked, staring at her face, excitement filling his system. "W...well, what are we waiting for?!" He leaned down, his lips hovering above hers as he wrapped his arms around her pliant form. He was about to press their lips together when she suddenly spoke. "I think a dog would be nice." At this, Sid raised his head and backed away slightly, his face contorted in utter confusion. "What?" "I'd accept some company... A pet dog." Frustration was all over his face as she held the grin that was making its way to her face. "What?" she asked innocently. "Can't I have at least one?" "We don't keep dogs here... They're dangerous," he said in a flat tone. "Oh? Then am I going to stay bored here?" she huffed, crossing her arms. "Seems like it," Sid answered. "But I don't want to! I'm going to die of boredom here!" she said, narrowing her eyes as she gave him a harsh glare. "Don't be stupid. Boredom doesn't kill anyone," Sid replied in a matter-of-fact tone. "It will. When I can't take it anymore, I'll commit f*****g suicide." "You can't," he said, then smiled. "If you want something to do, then bear me a child. That way you won't be as bored anymore. You will be busy being a mother and a wife." "I will never have your child," she declared. "Oh, but you will," he said, grabbing her hand and kissing it as he gazed at her dead in the eye. "Let go!" she said uncomfortably, but he held it firmly. "After all, you have no choice but to stay here forever, with me." ~ That morning, Crimson woke up with the sun shining against her face. She quickly turned her back to the window to shield her eyes, noticing that Sid wasn't sleeping next to her. "Rise and shine!" Sid said in front of the windows, making her groan slightly, knowing that he had already opened the windows and tied the curtains. "It's too early," she grumbled. "Let me sleep." "It's already 9 am and I've already prepared your breakfast, sleepyhead. I'm off to work in an hour," he said, his ash-blond hair not tied up like usual, letting it fall down his back. "Can you just put it in the cupboard? I'll eat it in a few," she trailed off, yawning and starting to drift off to sleep again. However, Sid took the blankets off of her, making her growl in irritation and glare at him with sleepy eyes. "Nope, we're going to have breakfast together." "f**k you too," she mumbled under her breath, standing up groggily. Sid just smiled and started to walk down the stairs, with Crimson following him and raising her middle finger at his back. After Sid left for work, she went outside, trying to find anything interesting. She strolled around the nearby place for half an hour before deciding to go back. However, a woman caught her attention. The woman didn't have pointed ears like the fairies. She looked more human. The woman felt someone gazing at her and turned to face a lady a few years younger than her. "Is there any problem?" Crimson gulped slightly, mustering her courage to ask. "Uh... Are you... a human?" The woman's brows furrowed before she lifted a hand. Crimson visibly flinched when the woman caressed her hair and gently tucked it behind her ear. Her eyes also widened as she did so. "Y... Yes... You are too, right?" "Uh... yeah, how long have you been here?" Crimson asked. The lady was about to answer when they heard tiny rushed footsteps coming their way and someone yelling. "Mama! Mama! Look, I've found a gem! It's called Diamond, right?! Right?!" A young fairy was holding a glittering stone and the woman smiled gently. "Yes, my dear... It's a diamond." Crimson assumed that the lady had been trapped here for years, judging by what she assumed her kid looked like. The lady then faced Crimson. "I've been here for twelve years now. My name is Ariana, and this is my daughter Hazel. She's eight." "My name is Crimson, nice to meet you," she said politely. "Same here. So how long have you been here?" Ariana asked her. "Two weeks, I guess," Crimson said, quite unsure. "Oh, so you're new," Ariana said. Crimson nodded. "Then you must be adjusting to your married life." "Well yeah," she said. "I... I want to go back to my old life... Do you have any idea how?" Ariana shook her head. "It's best if you don't try to escape." At this, Crimson felt a sudden urge of annoyance at the woman's reply. "But I'm not happy here!" she said as calmly as possible, but the distaste in her voice was quite visible. "I know," Ariana replied, stroking her daughter's head as she innocently looked at them with big bright hazel eyes. "I've felt that too, but I realized how possessive they get, especially when their spouse is unique, such as a human." Crimson stayed silent for a while, searching for words. "I still have a life out there... Is there any other way for me to go back?" Ariana sighed for the second time. "The best thing you could do is to just accept the fate that lies in front of you. Those who you cared for would just forget you anyways." "I'm not ready to give up just yet!" Ariana's head snapped back to hers in surprise, taken aback by the sudden determination in her voice. "It doesn't matter if they forget me or not. I don't want to be trapped inside a world where I don't belong for the rest of my life. I'm a human, and I shall remain in the human world," Crimson said, looking at the ground as she turned slightly. "Thanks for the chat, Ariana. I'll be going now." She completely turned her back against her, starting to walk back to her house. "Wait!" Ariana suddenly said, making Crimson stop and face her again. "Whenever the fairies sense that a human is near, they start to have a party that lures the humans. If you manage to make the human snap out of the trance before they eat the black rice, he or she can still go back to where they came from, and you can go with them. That way, you won't get lost and won't be back in this forest ever again." At the information, Crimson smiled. "Really?! That's great help, thank you." She beamed. "You're welcome." Ariana smiled back. "But please, proceed with caution and make sure that your husband or the fairy that got the human won't know what you were planning... Fairies are gentle and kind creatures, but they are extremely possessive of what they know is theirs... They could be more dangerous than we expected, that's why whenever a human who hasn't eaten the black rice is near, fairies often don't let their spouse go to the 'party' unless they fully trust them, in fear that they would escape with the said human." "I'll keep that in mind," Crimson replied. "Thank you so much and goodbye!" "Goodbye and be careful." "I will."
