Porter smoothed down the freshly applied bandage over Nick’s shoulder, nodding his approval. Todd stood near the bedroom door with his arms crossed over his chest, leaning on the wall, one leg bent, foot hooked up behind him. He’d diligently watched the entire process, as he did every day when Nick’s bandaging was changed. The back and forth between Nick and Porter, however, barely registered in Todd’s mind.
Everything Porter did regarding Nick’s wound turned into a medical class. He’d grill Nick on what to put on it, what to have the patient take, bandage, no bandage. It went on and on. Judging from Porter’s expression, he was pleased with Nick’s responses and commented often on how quickly Nick learned.
