Chapter 1
Zoey's P.O.V
Hi. I'm Zoey Manhattan, a senior student of Horizon High, a school in the middle of a busy city. I'm what most people would call indecent and rough but that's just people. They've always got something to say.
"Zoey! Come down here this instance. You're gonna be late for school again and then get detention again."
Sorry, that's just my twin brother, Henry. Well he was born twenty seconds before I was, so technically he is my elder brother. He's like the only person in the whole world who really understands me.
"I'm coming!!!" I yelled back before looking at the clock by my bedside. 8:00am stared me back in the face. "s**t!" I cursed before zipping into the bathroom.
Coming out, I put on my favorite ripped T-shirt and jeans pants before brushing my side bangs. Putting on my favorite boots, I finished dressing up by wearing a jacket of my favorite band.
Sliding down the smooth, recently polished banister of the stairs, I ran into the kitchen, grabbed my phone and lunch and made it in record time to the car.
"You just had to be late again huhn?" Henry asked with a playful frown on his face.
"Screw you." I mouthed at him since my mother was in the driver seat.
Ding
A text message popped up on my phone. Checking it, I realized it was Henry.
You pick the place and time. What position do you prefer?
Rolling my eyes, I was barely able to suppress a chuckle.
Don't you think twins aren't supposed to be screwing each other?
"So Henry, any plans for today?" My mum asked breaking the supposed silence.
"Uhm... Yeah.... I've got to tutor Stacy after school." He mumbled.
"Mum, he's taking Stacy to the park." I revealed making Henry turn his head so fast I could have sworn I heard something snap.
"You don't have to lie to me, son. You go ahead and take the nice girl on a date." Mum said stunning him.
"Would you look at that? We're already in school. Thanks for the ride mum." With that, Henry disappeared into the massive building.
"I didn't want to say this while your brother was here, but if you get one more detention, you're going to stay with your aunt Caroline in the country side."
Of course, they finally decided to get rid of the black sheep of the family.
"Why don't you shove that threat up your association?" I wanted to say but instead, I turned and walked into the school building.
"Zoey!"
I didn't need to turn to know who that was. It was my best friend, Percy. Percy is your regular geek who wears medicated glasses and is always full of energy.
We became friends when I saved her from bullies in third grade and since then, we became best of friends.
"Guess what?" She said while running towards me.
When she passed by Derek, the school jerk, I noticed the smirk on his face and before I knew what was happening, Percy crashed face first into the tiled floor while Derek and his cronies laughed at her.
Being the hot tempered girl I was, I flared up and marched towards him. The hallway became as quiet as a grave yard as I got closer to him.
Yeah, I got quite the reputation.
Before I got to him, he turned and began running, infuriating me more. Without thinking, I grabbed a mop and launched it at his head.
Silently, I thanked my parents for forcing me to go for sports camp as the mop hit him square on the back of his head with a c***k, forcing him face first on the floor.
At least now he feels the pain Percy felt. I knew I already got revenge but my anger clouded my senses and I straddled him, raining blows on every inch of his face and didn't stop until I drew blood.
"Zoey. Zoey, stop it. You're gonna kill him." I heard Percy plead but I was still too angry to comply.
I was about to punch him again when I felt two strong arms on my shoulder, lifting me off his body. Turning, ready to punch the daylight out of whoever had the guts to interrupt me, I saw the Henry with disappointment in his eyes and suddenly, I calmed down.
I had promised Henry I'd deal with my temper issues after I got into Juve for cutting a kid on the arm and now I guess I broke that promise. Looking at the victim of my temper, I gasped. He had multiple cuts on his face and lips and a smashed nose.
"I'm sorry, Henry." I said and ran out of the hallway past the gate into town and kept running.
At least I won't be getting detention anytime soon and I won't have to go to the country side.
Feeling the burn in my throat and chest, I stopped at the one place that had always cheered me up whenever I was sad or still mad - Toghurt Emporium, the one joint where you could eat icecream, play virtual games, watch a movie and buy gifts for an affordable price.
Seriously, doing everything I just mentioned cost me a measly hundred and fifty bucks.
Walking inside, I met Cassie, the cheerful receptionist who welcomed me with her usual smile.
"Zoey, how are you doing?" She asked.
"Bad. I lost my temper again." I replied, Cassie was like my therapist and friend in one little wrapped up package so I felt free telling her somethings I would not tell anyone else.
"Oh man. Whose balls did you assault?" She said playfully.
Yeah, I assaulted someone's balls just not in the way you're probably thinking. I just gave him a little kick where the sun don't shine and used him for taekwondo practice afterwards.
"I didn't assault nobody's balls. Just maybe cracked him up with a mop and then turned him to my private punching bag."
"Man, your parents are gonna flip. Why don't you go inside and vent your anger on some virtual wrestler or something. When my shift is over, I'll come for you and then, we would talk about this."
"Sounds like a plan." I said and eyed the little bowl of strawberries on her desk. Judging from the look she gave me, I knew she knew what I was thinking.
"Not this time, Zoey." She said and reached for it but was too late as I ran out of the reception into the main hall with a bowl of strawberries.
"Thanks!" I called out.
Henry's P.O.V
My disappointed look melted into nothingness as Zoey ran out of school. I immediately knew where she was going, Toghurt Emporium. Ever since I showed her the place when she was six, she had loved hanging out there.
Why was I disappointed in the first place when that jerk had it coming? I'm sure I would have done the same thing, probably worse, if it was Zoey who tripped.
I was about to go after her when the bell rang for the first class. Sighing, I went to my locker and picked my art supplies. According to my new schedule, I had Fine Arts and that usually meant 'take all your art supplies since you never know what would happen'.
It was a once bitten twice shy kind of situation.
Last year, I thought we were only going to paint so I left my sculpting materials at home and so I had to do one week worth of sculpting to catch up.
I wasn't going tet that happen again so I walked towards the class. Soon, Ms. Courtney, the art teacher walked in and was met with whistles and shouts of 'man', "she's hot.", "this class just got a lot less boring."
Ms. Courtney was like the youngest teacher in the history of Horizon High. She was a week over twenty and since she was as young as most of us, she had no issue blending in and students, both male and female, fantasized about a her alot.
Sure, she was hot with her bangs, long black hair, curvy body, pretty eyes and luscious pink lips but I was too worried about Zoey to think about some hot teacher so I took out my sketch pad, and sketched everything that floated through my head, paying more attention to every tiny detail than to the bunch of hormonal teenagers surrounding me.
I was so engrossed in it, that I didn't notice Ms. Courtney walk up beside me. Looking at what I had literally spent half a period sketching, I smiled. I had sketched a boy and a girl, in a boat, kissing under the night sky.
"Beautiful. How long have you been drawing?" I heard Ms. Courtney ask and whipped my head around so fast I crashed my lips on hers, making her freeze and I had to admit, she looked more beautiful up close with her boobs so close to my hands.
However, the pause was all it took to make rumors float round the school that I kissed our art teacher and I scooted back.
"I can't f*****g believe it." I heard a familiar voice and sighed in realizing the drama that was coming my way. I turned and saw Vanessa, my girlfriend, standing at the door.
"Class dismissed. I need you all to write a report on Leonardo Da Vinci. Vanessa, Henry stay behind."
"f**k you, little miss perfect." Vanessa yelled as the rest of the class cleared out.
"It was an accident." I said pulling her back.
"Sure, of course. Next thing I know you accidentally f****d this b***h in front of the whole school." She replied and slapped me before storming towards the door.
"You sit where and when I f*****g want you to sit, b***h! I ain't gonna say it twice. Or maybe little Henry needs to know that you aren't as committed to him as he has f*****g been to you."
Wait, did the art teacher just curse? Ok, this was getting interesting. And what did she mean by not committed?
"I'm right here, so you might as well start talking." I said.
"Why don't you do the favor?" Ms. Courtney asked.
"I don't have to say bullshit." Vanessa said fear evident in her eyes
"I agreed to keep mute but turns out she doesn't deserve you. Now before I go on, I'm not doing any of this because I want you to break up with her and date me instead, cause well I'm your teacher."
"Yeah, that'll be pretty too awkward." I said.
"Fine. Little blonde over here got f****d by Derek in the girls bathroom." I heard her say and then felt like the world crashed on my shoulders.
"What the hell? Vanessa, Derek of all people, that motherfucking, douchebag. You'd stop that low to let that jerk f**k you?" I said my anger rising.
Guess that one thing Zoey and I shared in common.
"Henry, you know I could never do that to you. He threatened to hurt you if I didn't......"
"It's over. We're done. Get out." I said in a calm voice.
"But......"
I didn't give her a chance to complete it as I did the one thing in my head at the moment.
I kissed Ms. Courtney.
Yeah, after the betrayal and all, I f*****g kissed my teacher in front of my ex. I was about to stop when I got the shock of my little eighteen year life.
She responded to the kiss and hell, I think that gave me a b***r. Soon, we were out of breath and had to break the kiss to get some air. Looking round, I didn't see Vanessa and heaved a sigh of relief.
"I'm sorry, miss Courtney. I should not have done that." I apologised.
"Just call me Courtney. I understand. It was just to drive home a point." She said making me feel guilty. I used her and I'm sure that was more than messed up.
"Don't you think she'd have taken some pictures?" I asked her as she twirled her hair around her finger.
"She won't try anything. You don't think I would have proof of what I accused her of doing?"
Oh so it was a stale mate.
"Thanks Courtney. It's good to know I have someone to watch my back." I said when I got to the door.
All I got in return was a nod and I was soon on my way to the Toghurt Emporium despite having classes. My perfect attendance could handle a day off.
What can I say, it's one of the perks of being a good kid.
