I got home that night with mixed feelings exploding through my body. Mom was nowhere to be found. That's right, mom. Like, who's gonna take care of her when I'm away? I was really freaking out, I had to pick up my phone and call Thea. No response. "Ugghh, what the eff?" I groaned in frustration. 'You know what? Imma go o'er to her house ASAP'. I thought to myself quickly, grabbing my jacket and calling an Uber.
"OMG girl, you are not gonna believe this." I yelled, pushing the front door of Thea's house open only to find her making out with some foreign girl on the couch. That's probably her girlfriend she told me about. Background noises echoed from the television. Awwn, how romantic. It looked like they were watching TV and got caught up in the moment or something right before I walked in. Okay, I think I might have a bad habit of walking in on people hooking up. "Girl, we need to talk." I butted in as Thea rolled her eyes at me like; 'Can't you see I'm busy here. b***h'. "Okay this is kinda weird. Hi, Candie." I waved nervously. Candie had topaz eyes and really dark hair, also a really slender physique. Not like I'm tryna be racist or anything, but I didn't need to be told she was Asian. "Hey," she waved me back with a really sweet smile even though I just ruined their moment.
"Girl, I swear if this s**t isn't goddamn important I am literally gonna whoop yo' ass". Thea warned pulling me upstairs. Typical Thea. "Okay, calm down, it's important. I promise ". I assured her. "Ugh! What now?" She groaned. "My boss offered me a new job as his personal assistant so I don't have to do my stripping job". I said in one breath. "Girl, that's amazing. I mean now, you can finally get over Theo. Speaking of which, I did see him today. Girl, he drives a porsche." She replied. "Who cares about Theo? And for the record, I did get over him. Five years ago." "Great, now go home. Someone Important is waiting for me downstairs". Thea said placing emphasis on the word, 'important'. "I haven't even told you the big news yet." I replied trying to maintain my grip as Thea pushed me to go downstairs."What big news?" She asked. "So, here it is; my boss asked me to come live with him". I said unenthusiastically. "Woah! That's crazy. Why would he do that? Is he like into you already or something?" She furrowed her eye brows. "Oh, I wish." I scoffed rolling my eyes. "So, is that it? I really need to go downstairs." Thea sighed. "Well, I do need a favour from you. Listen, my mom won't be seeing me a lot when I start working cos as his personal assistant, my working hours are like 25 hours a day, so, I need you to keep an eye on mom at least once a day ". I said giving her puppy dog eyes. "Sure thing". She replied hurrying downstairs.
The next day was a weekend and I was supposed to 'move in' on Monday. I lazily brushed my teeth staring at my messy hair on the mirror when my phone rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. It was an unknown number but I picked up anyways. "Hey". I said. "Jenna Flores, this is your boss." He said coldly. I could literally feel the chills over the phone. "It's the weekend dude". I sighed shoving my electric toothbrush into my mouth. "I'm your boss. You can't call me 'dude'." He replied matter-of-fact ly. "I do know that. Sir". Came my reply. "Yea, being too formal sounds weird". He replied with a low chuckle. "Call me Raffaele." He added "Raffaele?" It came out as a question from my mouth cos now that I think about it, I've never heard his name before. "Yea, Raffaele Giovanni Salvator." He replied. "Yeah, good for you Raffaele". I rolled my eyes. "What's with the attitude? If you don't like the job, you can always walk away." He teased. I had to stop myself from saying, 'f**k you Raffaele. f**k you'. Instead, I said; "How do you even have my number?"
"Cos I'm your boss". He replied hanging up. I groaned making a mental note to go shop for work clothes that afternoon.
