A Little Background Info
I currently live in the Kingdom of Grail. The kingdom is currently under a threat known as the Demon King. Interestingly enough, it seems that the human race and the demon race used to have pretty good relations. The reason why the peaceful relations were ruined was because a perverted noble used magic to spy on the Demon King's wife. Combined with the fact that the Demon King loved his wife to the point where he actually had no mistresses or concubines, he took serious offence to that and mounted an attack. The demon kingdom was a barren wasteland south of the Kingdom of Grail. Powerful monsters roamed those barren lands, and despite past kings offering to help cultivate and improve the demon kingdom, the Demon King refused. By having to fend off hordes of monsters on a daily basis, it seems that each demon had enough combat potential to rival a small group of warriors. Furthermore, it is widely known that demons worship and respect their king a lot, so all the Demon King had to do to gather an army was rally the citizens. With that in mind, the King Bernard ordered all of the Holy Knights to guard the city known as Vanguard. The city of Vanguard had an ancient history, with books depicting it being built with the intent of guarding against an entity known as the 'Rau', who was supposedly the first king of the Demon Kingdom. As it was situated in the middle of a valley, with mountain ranges on the eat and west of it, Vanguard had a natural defensive advantage. If the demon army were to attack the Kingdom of Grail, they would be forced attack the city head-on. If not, they would have to climb the Vantage Mountain Range on the east, which is known as being one of the most perilous mountains ranges in the Kingdom of Grail's territory, or climb the Dragon's Spine on the west. The Dragon's Spine was known to be the nest of, well, dragons. However, somewhere in the middle of the Dragon's Spine, rests the entity known as 'Agralthus', also known as the Dragon King. It was slightly smaller than the rest of it's kin, but it has been alive since humans first started recording history.  Personally, I feel like it wasn't possible for a dragon to be alive for several millennia, but it makes sense, so I guess I'm convinced. Anyways, Agralthus was very territorial. Rumours has it that the moment you step foot onto the Dragon's Spine, Agralthus will know. there has been several cases of Adventurers trying to brave the Dragon's Spine, only to be blown off the map along with part of the mountain range. I've checked some older maps, and the Dragon's Spine did seem to have shrunk over the years, so I guess it's true. There's no way the Demon Kingdom would go there. So, if the Demon King were to attack, they would have to try and take Vanguard. The chance of them succeeding is fifty-fifty. That was without the help of the Holy Knights. The Holy Knights are a small group of insanely strong individuals who were gifted either physically or magically hired and trained by the Kingdom of Grail to be their elite fighting force. I've only seen the personal bodyguard of princess, Celine, in action, and she is pretty impressive. She was one of the few Holy Knights who had exemplary physical and magical potential, plus she had plenty of battle experience from being a mercenary before she became a Holy Knight, so the princess' safety was ensured. Speaking of the princess, she is currently trying to peek into my room through a small hole she drilled with magic.  As a countermeasure, I've nailed a small piece of parchment covering the hole from the inside.  "What is that? It's covering the hole!" The princess' agitated voice rang clearly from the hallways.  I closed the history book I was reading and opened the door. "Princess. How may I help you?" The princess let out a cute yelp and scratched her head. "Aegeus! I was just passing by and I wanted to....... Invite you to a tea party!" She said nervously. Maybe this was a bad attribute for royalty, but the princess was completely unable to tell a lie. Everything, from her body motions to her tone was screaming 'I'm lying!'. Furthermore, the princess was small. Not in a s****l sense, of course, but rather she had such a small stature that would make one think she was way younger than her true age. Even so, I had complete faith in the princess being able to control the kingdom's nobles. After all, she was a very good judge of character. One of the benefits of being the princess' childhood friend was that I had the princess' complete trust and adoration, and I knew that.  However, romance was the last thing on my mind at the moment. The princess' safety and exacting revenge was my main priority.  My main role is to be the hero of the kingdom. In other words, my job is to try and kill the Demon King even though it is completely our fault for starting this fight.  So, when I turn sixteen and become an adult, I shall step onto my journey to slay the Demon king all on my own.  ....I'm kinda excited.
