Chapter Twelve

I carried my mate the bridal way into the car and the driver drove us to the hotel I had booked for this date night, it was another of her favourite because of the unique services they offer in the hotel, the staffs were very hospitable, and it has a river view at the back of the hotel, that gives it a beautiful look. It is a place where you would wake up and watch the sun as it rises in the morning.

We visited it once when one of my friends from high school was having his wedding ceremony and we were given room to stay in for the night as I was the best man for the occasion and I needed to be close to the groom. I just met Eva and discovered that she was my mate, so we both stayed at the hotel for the night, she could not hide her love for the hotel when she saw the view the following day and she has not stopped speaking of the hotel.

I had planned to bring her here for a date night but everything we have both been through has made it impossible for me to do so. I know she was going to love this.

I won't lie to myself I have come to see Hazel as a child of mine and the thought of giving her away is killing me and giving me pain in my heart.

When Eva was pregnant I had intended that Hazel get to be recognized by my kids as the eldest in the family and for there to be love between them but how can I achieve this when Eva does not want her in the house? I keep wondering why she started treating Hazel like she was some kind of demon that should not be allowed into the house.

I felt her shift by my side and I tried to turn but she was wide awake, she looked at me and discovered that there was a tear in my eyes, she instantly sat up and I look away because I was embarrassed that she caught me in my weak moments.

" Fin, why are you crying?" She asked me and I didn't know what to tell her or how I begin to explain the pain I am having because of her treatment of Hazel.

" Go back to sleep, I will soon be okay," I said to her, we have both just had a great time and I don't want anything making my effort to satisfy her go in vain.

" How do you expect me to go to sleep seeing how broken you are? Now tell me what the problem is," She insisted.

" Eva, I don't know how to begin, but one thing I am asking for is that I want peace in the house," I said and I saw that she didn't expect me to bring up such an issue after the wonderful time we both just had.

" If you are speaking of Hazel, Fin, we can not accept her as our child, I can't find it in me to accept her," When I heard her say those words my heart shattered into a million pieces.

" Why do you hate her so much?" I asked finding it hard to understand her.

" I don't hate her but I fear her and what I saw her do," I froze when I heard her say what she said.

" Fear?"
