Chapter Twenty

'I did not have it easy when growing up, all I ever dreamed of was meeting my mate and leaving this pack where everyone treats me as an alien but I have survived with the help of my aunt and two brothers who never saw me as an adopted sister but a part of them, today was my sixteenth birthday and I am suppose to meet my mate when I am sixteen years old this is what every wolf wished for and hope for because in our kingdom one's mate is supposed to protect and care for each other.' This was what was going through Hazel's mind as she reflected on all that she had been through for the past four years since the death of her adopted father whom she was accused of killing. The journey so far has not been easy because she was always been treated with scorn and she has no one to call her friend in the pack except for her adopted twin brothers.

Her supposedly adopted mother refuses to have anything to do with her, and she has since moved to her aunt's house who made sure she took care of Hazel like her twin brother who was her adopted father would have done. She had gone to a great effort to ensure that she stopped working in the pack house where she had been assaulted s******y by Alpha's son, Kayden who derived pressure in assaulting young female wolves in the pack.

Initially alpha refused to acknowledge that his son had a shortcoming but later came to accept that his son was a pedophile as such he has prevented younger girls from coming to the pack house without their parents. He ended up agreeing that Hazel should stop working at the pack house.

Even since then, she has been able to concentrate more in school and no one bullied her in school again but everyone avoided having anything to do with her. The ones who helped to make her day blissful were the twins who always ensured she was happy.

" What are your plans for today's party?" Loe asked Hazel as they set out to go to school, this has always been like culture to them, they come very early in the morning and go to school together. They were like her security guards who made sure no one insulted her or bullied her.

" We both want you to dress much prettier for the party and make head rolls so that your mate would not be able to resist you," Authur teased, he has discussed this with Leo and they came up with the idea of getting her a new dress and a makeover to give her a more matured look.

" Is that necessary, I don't think I need to go through those troubles just for today's party, you know I like the simple way of life," Hazel did not show much enthusiasm for the suggestion that Authur suggested, she felt it would be meaningless as her mate might not want her given her past experiences.

" You should be happy about it, every girl likes to apply makeup and wear something fancy on their special day and you are no different from the other girls, you are even more beautiful than most of them here at the pack," Authur insisted that she dressed differently for the occasion. They both knew she was much prettier than most of the girls in the pack and had always wanted her to display her beauty to help increase her confidence.

" Hey!" A girl from school who had been getting close to Hazel for the past two weeks called out when she saw the three of them by the school gate, even though Hazel was not too comfortable with her but tried to get along with her because she was the only one that had tried to be her friend since she started high school.

" Hi, Jillian," Hazel greeted her while forcing a smile on her face, she had tried to discourage her from coming closer but Jillian had persisted and refused to acknowledge the fact that Hazel was not interested in having anything to do with her

" Hey," The twins responded, they had made plans to include Jillian in their plans so that Hazel would be comfortable when they went to get her a dress for the party tonight. They were also not comfortable with her but since she was someone from a rich family and knew a bit about the fashion world, they had to include her in their plans so that Hazel could get a beautiful and suitable dress for herself.

" So, guys when are we going shopping? There is no class today we only need to submit our assignment and then head out, what do you think about that? " Jillian suggested excitedly.

Hazel was not too happy about leaving school and going shopping but she didn't want all the efforts made by the twins to go to waste because they were always after her happiness, so she agreed to go with them.

" Okay, let's go after submitting the assignments,"

" Wow! For a moment there I thought you were going to refuse to come with us," Loe said happily. They knew Hazel didn't like to miss out on anything that had to do with school.

" We will meet up at the school entrance in let's say thirty minutes," Jillian says as she goes into the with Hazel.

The twins both gave her a thumbs up before heading towards their class.

" We are sure going to have fun today and you don't have to hold back, you need to flow with me today so I can help give you a makeover," Jillian says enthusiastically as she leads the way to the class.

" Got it," Hazel pretended like she was happy with the arrangement, there was this feeling she was having about Jillian that was making her conscious of her. She didn't trust her because she used to be friends with a group of girls who taunted and bullied her in school. Ever since Jillian became her friend they have stopped being friends. Though when the other girls were taunting her, Jillian had never been a part of it. She always stays quiet but never stops her friends from taunting her, it came as a surprise to Hazel the day Jillian came to her and showed her interest in wanting to be her friend.

Today was a coming-of-age party for wolves who were old enough to have their mate and every wolf that is yet to find their mate is expected to come and meet their mate. The lucky ones usually don't wait long before their fated mates . The talk in school was all about the party as every wolf old enough looks forward to meeting their mate. This was every wolf's dream, having their mate by their side because it makes them complete. Most wolves have heard the news of how wonderful it was to have a mate, the sensation, the sparks, and other things associated with the mate thing. Since the school belong to the pack no human was allowed to attend the school, so it gave them the opportunity to discuss freely about the upcoming event. So there was excitement everywhere as everyone that has come of age looks forward to it.

About twenty minutes later the girls were by the school gate waiting for the twins to join them for their shopping spree.
