Chapter Nineteen

I was fuming with anger when I heard all Hazel has been going through after the death of my brother, I have not done my part as someone she saw as an Aunt very well, I didn't observe all that I should have observed, I had felt she was shame person that was why she does not have friends, Authur has explained to me that she was not the one who killed my brother and I have tried telling this to Eva and the Alpha but none of them seem to want to believe this, I think I need to pay the Alpha visit and put a stop to this, she was still a minor and has been put through a lot already in her early life. I held back myself because I don't want to make her afraid but I was furious with everyone for what they have put her through. The bruises on her body were always well hidden by her and I didn't take note of them until today when she took off her clothes for me to run some tests on her. Eva was the most that I was angry for giving her those bruises, she still held grudges against her and I don't know what might have caused her to do this to Hazel but I am going to give her a piece of my mind.

" Hazel, would you love to go home or spend some time with me before going home?" I asked her.

" I love to stay with you before going home," She said and I decided to let her stay. I put her in a bed so she would have a few minutes to nap before we left for my house. My shift will be ending soon and I will take her home with me, I know the boys are going to miss her but I need to do this for her to prevent further harm to her.

I went into the ward and continue my shift. I observe that some of the nurses were looking at me like I was some kind of alien but I ignore them and continue with my shift. A pregnant woman was brought in and I helped with her delivery, she gave birth to a baby boy.

When I went back to check on Hazel to see if she was awake, but I was surprised because I met her and she crawled up in a corner of the room I Ieft her. She was shivering with fear in her eyes like she encountered something scary. I rushed to her and ask what happened to her, she held me in a hug as she began to cry.

" What happened to you? Did you have a bad dream? Why are you crying?" I asked because I was confused as to why she would be crying.

" Aunty, am I a witch?" She asked me.

" Why are you asking such a stupid question?" I asked her wondering why she was asking me that question.

" A nurse came in immediately after you left me to sleep and pulled me off the bed, she said why is a witch sleeping in the room? She kicked me and said bad words to me, Aunty am I a bad person?" She explains still in tears. I felt angry and my wolf was not happy about this. I don't know why she is being targeted. The crime she was being accused of was not committed by her. She was just unfortunate to be there when the crime was committed. Who is spreading this bad information about her, why will she pay for the crime she didn't know anything about?

" It is okay, this will all be over soon," I patted her back comforting her.

" Aunty why does everyone hate me, I didn't kill my father, I love him and will not kill him," She said through her sob.

" I believe you, you don't need to worry about that. Do you know who it was that did this to you?" I asked as I continue to comfort her.

" I do Aunty but please don't do anything to her," She pleads with me.

" Don't worry I will not do anything bad to her," Despite being bullied she is still pleading for the one who assaulted her.

" Aunty is your shift over? I want to go to your house," She says to me.

" Just give me a few minutes to sign off, we will soon leave now," I said lovingly to her. She needs to feel loved so that she can forget about what was said to her.

I left her and went to the desk to sign out but decided to find out who went into the room to say such evil words to her. We have a computer room where every patient in the clinic is monitored to make sure anyone that was not their family does not go in to harm them. I approach the room and enter to see a nurse there trying to lure the operator to wipe out some footage but I immediately realize she was the one who said that bad word to Hazel. I could see the shocked look in her eyes when I enter the room.

" Trying to hide your crime?" I asked her.

" W-What, what crime are you talking of," She stutters and one can tell she was afraid that her crime will be exposed.

" Then why ask him to wipe out the footage of the room that I left Hazel when I went to attend to some patients?" I asked her and she seem to be short of what to say.

" Edward, I want to see the footage of room 34," I inform him, and as he set out to play it the nurse tried to run out of the room.

" Don't even try to leave this room," I warned her. She was a junior nurse who just started work two months ago and she knows the implication of what she did. She was trying to run away probably to meet whoever is backing her up to rescue her from the hospital authority which I was part of. She was new to this pack and no one knows much about her, everyone had been wondering why she was not been properly screened before coming to work at the clinic.

After going through the footage, I was surprised at how wickedly she has treated Hazel, she didn't even consider her age. She dealt with her like someone her equal, hitting her seriously on the head like she was dealing with an adult and on her stomach. Edward was also surprised that someone can be as cruel as this. I begged Edward to send the footage to me because this should make the Alpha change his mind. I am now more than determined to put a stop to this treatment that everyone was giving to Hazel.
